Replace Michael Christian Now
Because it was unhelpful to the Pies ( footy act ) media narrative. Contrast this incident with the Hunter suspension, where Hunter just stood still and Butters went low, sliding into his hip and the Tribunal said he should have jumped out of the way and then Butters continued on playing, to get 43 possies, in the best game of his life. It’s like a scratch compared to a nuclear blast and people are actually suggesting the scratch was worse.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
He is always like that. He has a sort of mumbly disjointed speech delivery. Met him and Roos in a cafe and mentioned I was a former Dees Official. Lyon was engaging and very nice, while Roos acted like I disturbed his honeymoon evening, totally rude and dismissive.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Scott and Lyon both saying in reality he is guilty. Scott said at training, would he do that and then take out a team mate?

Replace Michael Christian Now
Caro has said it, Robbo said it tonight and I have seen/heard it said elsewhere. Robbo said clearly that the MRO said he had no case to answer and Laura Kane and the AFL said he did and overruled him. This has not been disputed by the AFL or anyone in the media, so it’s likely the case.

Replace Michael Christian Now
Several media sources have stated it. He was overruled. The wording was from both in the charge, but it was done from above.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Dermie, Lethal and Malthouse saying he will be suspended. He initiated contact, which turned into a bump to the head with his shoulder, knocking a bloke out for 2 minutes and damaging his health and career. What else could he do, not turn his shoulder into Gus’s head. Anything else and he would be fine. Lastly, if he had time to dip the shoulder, he had time not to.

What part? Also note I have slightly edited the original post.

Replace Michael Christian Now
The MRO officer imo should be replaced immediately. I just learned from 360, that the Umpire Reported Maynard immediately on the ground. We have also learned that Christian, an ex Pies player, wanted no penalty and was overruled by the Top Brass at the AFL. So despite a report on the ground by an umpire, close to the incident and the fact that a player had been knocked out for 2 minutes, with his career and health impacted, Christian attempted to whitewash the whole incident and not even have it tested by the Tribunal. With the AFL heavily concerned with avoiding head injuries, the actions of Christian imo reek of conflict, ex old time footballer bias and looking after the old club and imo he should be replaced immediately. He has been the subject of much criticism, in this role and it is time for a change now. Even his total lack of support for the umpire, imo makes his position untenable. At the very least he should have referred it on for a full tribunal hearing.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
May before he had played a game for us, was suspended in a Practice match, where he stopped and a player ran into him front on, without any shoulder bracing impact to the head. Didn't hear any complaints from the media peanut gallery then. If May did the same smother act on Daicos, there would be calls for a year ban, from the same media peanut gallery. I can see it now " May, a tough player, took out a great ball player and should be suspended for as long as possible".

Maynard must get at least four weeks
People are naturally very emotional over this incident, because of many factors we all know about. I understand Rollo’s view, because to be honest, at first glance I agreed with him it was a footy act and so be it. On further viewing and consideration, I realized it must be seen in light of the current AFL rules. It then becomes clear. Players have a Duty of Care to other players now. If you initiate contact via a bump to the head, it is no defence to then say you were only bracing for contact. Once you initiate contact, the duty of care requires you to not contact the head and cause injury. Whatever the motives of Maynard, in jumping off the ground, once he braced and hit Gus in the head with his shoulder, he committed an offence under the rules. His options were to not brace with his shoulder, but rather, keep his hands out to lessen impact, or avoid contact altogether. He chose the one banned option. The fact that Gus was concussed, goes solely to severity and penalty Now the media circus can begin. I only wish Gus all the best and couldn’t give a rat’s about Maynard.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I don’t know only repeating his tweet. Other media are still going with Port as possible new home. Sounds like Swans are more desperate. Anyway, I could live with him winning a Premiership and the Norm Smith this year.😀

Farewell Brodie Grundy
IMO 1 could happen but 2 can’t. We will not trade him for 29 and a 4 place rise in picks. Tony Sheahan said deal was done for pick 11. Hope he is correct, that is a great deal. Swans are going for experience this year, to keep competing like Cats, as they think they need that more than more youngsters.

PREGAME: SF vs Carlton
Injuries are a major factor in finals. We are the worst hit of the finals teams by a mile. Pies only without Daicos, Blues full strength, Lions full strength, Giants only Coniglio etc. Gus going off, killed Petracca going forward and possibly a couple of extra goals. How many sides could win without their Petty, Melk, Brown and Gus? Then replacement Tom Mac playing his first AFL game in 3 months. Yet, if we kicked for goal at the league average accuracy, we would have beaten the Pies and been in the PF. We now lose JVR this week. We need to not give away a start, kick more accurately and maintain pressure and a PF could still be ours. Maybe with JVR back and if a miracle, Gus too.

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
Maybe it is Daniher, Cameron, Hipwood, Bailey, Rayner, Fletcher and better delivery.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Tom DeKoning played similarly to LJ in gathering possies at the contest and around the ground. The fear is that Gawn’s effectiveness is curtailed if Grundy plays. Gawn had 27 possies besides rucking. That won’t happen if Grundy plays. Both have failed as forwards this year. It’s a real problem for the Match Committee with very limited options.

Thanks Biff.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
It would have to be both, to get us into a trade for a higher pick. Tony Sheahan I think, who broke the story, said he had signed with the Swans and we would get their pick 11.

Yep and now he is guaranteed a Cox Plate Start if he us up to it.
