  1. And if Port end up with picks 8 & 9 would they consider trading one for say a former adelaide boy who has become a handy ruckman and another former adelaide boy who plays off half back and is fearless.
  2. You could be right with the 60-80 games, but maybe not. Who knows? I recall Pickett taken by us at 28 years old, having no major injury and playing a great first year and then retired after the next. There are many more examples. Even though taken much younger I doubt Richmond would be happy with what they got from Nathan Brown. I just like the idea of having some good early picks this year and if used wisely we will have several long term players.
  3. Or tearing his knee apart. The due diligence will help but is not a guarantee. I still class a 27 year old as entering the twilight of his career. I would be happy to wager that his best football has already been played. Yes he has been a great footballer and still might be for a year or two but I don't want to give up valuable picks this year. He will also demand a high salary and that may cause other problems. However, if he was taken in the PSD that would be a different matter but I don't see that happening.
  4. We would be better adding high picks rather than trading them for injured former stars in the twilight of their careers. That has been the downfall of too many clubs and more so in this year before the GC rip the draft to shreds.
  5. The worst 50 I have seen in years. It was less than a sneeze. There was no brain snap, unless you are referring to the umpire. The commentators called the decision pathetic and it was.
  6. Appeal dismissed. End of story, maybe.

    Matty Lloyd

Spot on. Will be a Don for his last season in 2010.
  8. I don't believe there is any suggestion that he has any attitude problem. The problem I see is a lack of pace. He does have some ability, why else would he be on an AFL list. The real problem will be unless we trade some players some others will have to go. He may be in the gun especially as he could be kept at the club via the rookie draft.
  9. There is one thing for certain in all of this and that is, if we don't trade a few players and free up some spots, some unlucky boys are going to be delisted. I say unlucky because we have some boys contracted who may have been the ones to be delisted, but for their contract.
  10. HT I can think of 6 acts off the top of my head that are deemed low acts in football and they are: 1. Deliberate kicking of another player. 2. King hitting. 3. Spitting on another player. 4. Biting another player. 5. Racially abusing another player. 6. Eye gouging another player. On the last one poking someone in the eye deliberately is akin to gouging. It can have the same effect. Yes the Lion player was not injured but that is not the point. Judd walked over to an incident that didn't involve him and could have grabbed a player by the jumper to drag him away. Instead, he bent down and put his hand on the face of an opponent and as the photo clearly shows his finger went into or on the eye of the Lion player. It is clear. It may not be a gouge but it is a poke and that will do. It is either intentional or grossly reckless conduct to the head of an opponent who is on the ground and defenceless. It could have been far worse if an injury was sustained to the eye and that is what the AFL wants to stop. If I was advising Judd and his team I would have advised them to cop the 2 weeks and get on with life. This has kept his name in the spotlight for far longer than needed and brought damage to him and his reputation. I get the feeling that it is the club running this not Judd. I will be staggered if the appeal is successful.
  11. There were whispers that Swans since Hall, Barry and O'Loughlin have finished might look at Miller and with Crouch gone could look at Valenti and Hawks also might be interested in Miller. Port without Lade and with 31 year old Brogan could look at Jamar and Bell has been also mentioned. As I have said before most of these whispers are usually just that and don't end up eventuating because of various factors not the least being the salary cap or the need to draft young players and rebuild lists.
  12. Clint is not the worst player going around and there have been a few whispers that a couple of clubs might be interested in him. One of these is supposed to be the Saints and you will recall that he played pretty well in the last game against them. In answer to your question yes, there may be competition for him. While saying that he will not bring a big price.
  13. He still got 3 right even if 1 was obvious. Great effort.
  14. Unless they want to guarantee having him.
  15. Speaking of Embley, I can't believe how many shots at goal he missed in the last 8 games or so. He missed them from 10 metres out on 1 or 2 occasions. I have never seen an AFL footballer that bad at kicking for goal. He makes Juice look great.
  16. Mousey says he is 17 until December.
  17. It would be nice to play Hawks, Dons and Carlstink first three next year.
  18. You might as well stop pussyfooting around and tell us what you really think of him.
  19. There is nothing inconsistent there. You can accuse somebody of something among a number of accusations and they can admit to one or more of them. To then say they were accused is still correct even if they have admitted it.
  20. And if he had chosen Melbourne, would he still be a manipulative ass, a disgrace and hated? PS. The subsequent decision of the MRP "is" reflective of his actions if the 2 weeks suspension quoted is correct.
  21. Let me start by saying that Judd is one of the best footballers I have seen. He would also be generally accepted as a ball player. However the anger on this site directed towards him I believe comes from his turning his back on the Dees and taking the bucks offered by my most hated team, clearly not because he is a "dirty player". Obviously Dees fans have long memories, though I suppose it wasn't actually that long ago that he shunned us. He has been accused on this thread of being an eye gouger, a pressure point manipulator, a liar, a mercenary, a participant in salary cap rorting etc. Do you think that we should all just wait for a few hours to see what the Match Review Panel do and given all of the publicity, one would think they will do something. Then maybe we should all draw breath and accept the fact that he is a great player and that he has the right to take the best offer and secure his future just like every other sportsman or employee. PS. I was also extremely disappointed he chose them over us, but I believe that the side effects of that decision will ultimately work in our favour. We did not lose any high draft picks or top players getting him. IMO that will work in our favour. Also if he played for us this year and last would we be looking at 1 & 2 this next draft day?
