Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Redleg replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't forget what it sits on, which we own. -
TBH, Tim is a nice guy, but if we can't find a better option than a not best 22, 29 year old, perennially injured player, the Recruiting Department is useless.
-
Yes, all you need it pick 1.

I just posted this on the Split the Picks thread: Given the salary cap room required by GWS and their apparent need for 2 top 5 players, who will be on base payments, our pick 2, but likely 3, could be extremely valuable. If we are prepared to split picks and take 2 players later in the first round, I would imagine GWS would also throw a good player or players into the deal, to get it done. That could mean we turn our pick into 3-4 players. If the bloke we want is Anderson and we lose the pick, we might rate the next batch fairly equally and be prepared to do a big deal of the type I have outlined above. If that is possible, who could we reasonably target from GWS?

You remember her dad Ian, the former President of Richmond.

There you have it. Everyone did it. Many admitted it. Only one club got investigated.

Not a selfish post at all, in fact a very good one IMO. I agree. This off season could very well determine our long term future, as we either hit back hard and become relevant again, or slide into oblivion. As for the providing of comic relief, as the main contributor, I thank you for your appreciation of my efforts.

And there you have it!

Stuff Ralph, Morris, Robbo, Edmund etc, you are the best news breaker by a mile.
-
Not that there is anything wrong with it.

TBH I would trade the lot of them if we got McIntosh. It would free up cap space and then hope KK comes good and that a few of our youngsters in Swallow, Jordon, Bedford and Nietschke develop into AFL standard. Getting Langdon and maybe Amon make the others above superfluous to our needs.

I put his stats in above post so you could all see them. He always looks ok when he plays, but doesn't have high disposals or goals or goal assists. Height: 191cm Weight: 91kg Position: Midfield. He has pace and good disposal. Is he better than most of our players in his position, yes he is. He is also a Premiership player, from a good club and if we got him for a reasonable deal I would go for it.

I hope the injuries don't affect our game next week. Who are we playing in our first final?
-
Quite likely. We have to understand, which is hard to accept, that we don't play in a sporting competition, we play in a business of football. As we all know, nearly anything goes in business, as long as the profits are there and keep growing. I wouldn't even put it past the AFL to disqualify us from a GF, if it meant GC or GWS could take our place.
-
Glad to hear Frost will soon sign a new contract with us. He is one of the few improved players on the list and one who gives us 100% effort.
-
Good time to go after a Giant, as they prepare to make room for Coniglio. I'd have a go at Finlayson.
-
Now that we look like getting Ed Langdon, I'd get into his brother. Collingwood will need to clear the decks to keep some of their players like Elliot and more importantly Grundy. They would not want to lose him but may be prepared to do a deal for salary cap room. We have had a good relationship with them recently, clearing decent players to them and accepting back their trash in return.
-
Or put Petty ( Harrison ) out front and call them the Beatles.
-
Hope Dec continues playing and would be very happy if it is with Casey. If at some other club, then all the best to him. As you said, he has done what so few have, played AFL football. He should be proud of that achievement. As for you, it must be hard to read posts potting a family member's ability, but I am sure you know it is not personal and what we all forget, including me occasionally, is that all these boys have families and it is not their fault if they are not Dustin Martin or Jeremy Cameron. Keep posting and Go Dees.
-
And still better if KK can get himself right.
-
Ok, but if you wanted to get King from GC, pick 2 would be the best ammo to use as they were desperate for it. They won't be desperate for pick 3. The AFL knew that and awarded the first top PP in how long, after saying they were only for the most extreme cases. GC have several young stars to come through. Unless there is a backroom deal to give us something, like funding for our new centre, we have been shafted again by the ruling body of the competition, I mean business.

Can I give you my old microwave for your brand new 75 TV? Same deal.
