Players will often say they are upset at leaving, so as to put the blame on the club and not upset the fans.

That is interesting, as he is listed as a delisted player on the AFL site under Collingwood. That means that players are not wanted but if someone shows interest, the club can ask for something. If no one shows interest he can be taken for nothing. If I wanted a player in that category, I would tell them to say they are probably retiring and then get them for nothing.

This from the AFL site, "It remains to be seen whether the opposition interest in the defender will result in Collingwood looking to broker a trade, or if Murray could find a third club as a delisted free agent." How do the Pies broker a trade if he has already been delisted?

With Hawks pulling out, I am getting the feeling he may have told them, it's the Pies or us. They could be saving face, so if he goes they don't look like he rejected them. He could be waiting for the B & F to be over and giving the Pies the chance to match our offer, or at least get close. Anyway, I am just speculating.

If the off field is manageable, I'd say yes, as he has speed and can deliver off the HBF and will be cheap. I think Jetta and Hibberd are fading.

I am a Frost fan, but if that is true, bye Sam.

I don't think Jetta and Hibberd are long term, whether or not Frost goes.

But isn't it great fun venting?
  9. When people want what you have, you get to name the price and if not met, keep what you have. We are in the box seat and should go hard. Of course you ask for more than is reasonable. What you end up with is determined by other's desperation.
  10. Yes. We have some who are famous for it.
  11. I'm with you. Also would keep both brothers here you would think.
  12. Don't all supporters do that?
  13. That is the $64.00 question.

I would look at Nash, could be gettable. Not as good as the others but is improving.

    Caddy for a start.

I was looking at deals, not comparing players. I thought that was pretty obvious, as Howe and Frost are clearly different types of players. Anyway, since we are looking like losing Frost to the Hawks, why not go for one of their key forwards, to solve a major problem area of ours. They are bringing in Patton, which makes 5 tall forwards in Lewis, O'Brien, Gunston, Nash and Patton. They can't all get a game so why not see if we can entice one, say Nash, to want to come to us. I would rather get a tall forward than a late 2nd rounder pick. They also have their ruckman go forward quite often, making it more crowded. With one reserve in Smith T gone and Keilty not coming on as hoped, we need another key forward even with Tom, Weid and maybe Petty, who could still end up in the backline.

Maybe not, but you know who the Pies best defender is, yes that bloke of ours, who we also didn't try to keep. He is still going strong, while who we got in exchange is long gone.
  18. I meant that, I said use last pick, when I should have said, just take a spot on the list.
  19. Tigers were told the same on Pickett and Stack and probably Martin as well. We know how that has gone. It could be a bust, but so what if it is at little cost. Imagine if it worked. We would be seen as having a strong culture and that could influence other players to look at us instead of Hawthorn, Collingwood, Essendon etc.
  20. He was a super talent and if you could get him on the track and back to near his best, for your last pick, it would be a great get.
  21. He now has a wife/partner and a couple of kids. He has a surgeon saying they did something new and is now ready to go. He has acknowledged his past indiscretions and is saying he is a changed man who needs to provide for his family. He can be taken with our last pick and given an incentive based contract. We always whinge about only taking the whitebread players. It is worth a go, as the upside is a large return and the downside is minimal, as he would just be delisted.

Dunkley's brother took a few years to settle in and he is now a ball magnet. Give Kyle some time and a couple of pre seasons and we might have a handy player.
  23. Correct and we considered very wrongly, in fact disastrously.
  24. Think they are well ahead with us giving them Kelly for Salem and Tyson. Time for us to win one with them.
  25. Didn't realize Billy was based on only 2 matches in 2018 Rusty, so that is a good point.
