  1. Frankly I am not fussed - there are plenty of very good options at all points of the draft. But, I only want players with at least some level of toughness, who enjoy and seek out a contest. Big or small, that is a minimum.
  2. Our mid-field was performing well enough in 06; enough for many pundits to predict a top 4 finish in 07. Ratten leaves, Williams arrives. In 07 our mid-field goes bad (admittedly with some injuries). Thompson hasn't played for the MFC since 2004. And in 07, White led the AFL in hit outs, so he was still effective in 07. You might think it coincidence that our mids went backwards in 07, and down the tubes in 08, after Williams arrived. I don't. Williams leaving is the best news I've had since the end of the season.
  3. What a catch! Footy Op Manager of the worst performed club in the AFL over the past 2 years. Whooa yeah. Tiges can have him. They're building quite a team of admin losers.
  4. Mods ..... put this [censored] on meds.
  5. Started this topic because I was wondering why these players hadn't been re-signed. But it could be they (1 or more) are in disagreement re $'s and/or years, and might elect to go into the PSD.
  6. CJ, Moloney, Whelan, Dunn, Bell are all out of contract. Others? No sign of new contracts. Any news out there? Wonder if there will be any delistings. Time for hard decisions?? Ed: I will take a punt and reckon that Whelan & Moloney may be retired/delisted. We need more picks in this draft - maybe get them again in PSD if nothing better.
  7. Heavens, Nasher. this post is not worthy of you, Take a Bex, and have a good lie down.
  8. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
  9. Yep. Or the VFL 2's. Unless he is sensible and deals his way out. Ricky Nixon better make sure Carroll gets some good advice. Claremont have been speaking to him; would be wise for him to cut a deal with the MFC for a few $'s and go and play for Claremont for few more $'s.
  10. It is my understanding that $'s are the sticking point re Green staying at MFC.
  11. Maybe, probably not!
  12. I think he has had his 15 minutes of fame. Excellent first half doz games; but a very (consistently) poor 2nd half of the season is not a good omen for 2009. Hope I'm wrong, but I think he will disappear without trace.
  13. According to HUN?, Lovett is getting $250K at bombers, best cats can offer is $150K. Straight swap is thus out, and cats are looking for a pick as a trade. By the way, this means that the cats have offered Prismall $150K! Clearly, other clubs can reasonably offer him considerably more. That puts us back in the hunt IF HE WANTS TO COME TO MFC. MFC or Sydney?
  14. Again........change your meds.
  15. No. Not good business. What goes around ............... Give up a 25-35 type pick. Depending on what we can trade for.
  16. A player is not de-listed until lists are submitted on 31st October, with a second list lodgement on 14 Nov. White & Yze (& Bode & Weetra) are delisted in the sense that they have been told they will not be in the playing lists submitted in Oct & Nov. They can thus be traded in trade week: Oct 6 - Oct 10.
  17. I think Judd didn't consider Hawthorn because they weren't prepared to throw $1M a year at him. They, like Geelong, must have a more even spread of player payments. Champion team vs team of (a few) champions. I shudder to think where we might be now had we got Judd. I would also be looking for the MFC to develop a culture that rewards more evenly, rather than a few drinking deeply from the cap.
  18. By testing he means testing. ie finding out: 1st rd, 2nd rd or <10, <20, <30 pick or ................ I'm sure Green is also testing his value in $'s and years. His hearts not in MFC anymore, so hope he goes. Hopefully we get a good deal, as he is coming out of contract.
  19. To the right club, Green is worth a first round pick. I'm thinking Sydney, especially if they lose O'Keefe. If they get a 1st round pick for O'Keefe, they could pass that straight on to us for Green. He would be a good get for any of the top 8.
  20. Freo have knocked back pick 24 offer by Carltank for Warnock. See here.
  21. And he wants $250K per year. Much more realistic; may bring Warnock's asking price down.
  22. You're probably right, but they desperately need a ruckman. So if we traded for Seaby, then we could on-trade him to Tiges for Morton. (Maybe with a few picks exchanged as well.)
  23. Freo have knocked back pick 24 offer by Carltank for Warnock. See here. The plot thickens, especially with Seaby in the picture.
  24. Yes, but he can still be traded. I, for one, would love to see him at MFC.
  25. No. Seaby is contracted to WE for 2009, but wants to leave, to be traded. The only way this can happen is if WE trade him. He can't enter the ND or PSD. He's been offered a 3 yr extension by WE. To my knowledge, he has not signed off on it. He wants a 4 yr extension. Ed.: Kerr has signed with WE.
