  1. Article One thing better than the filth losing, is watching them lose $'s and lots of them. Think of all the low life, handing over their hard-earned, just to watch a bunch of suits pour it down the drain. And Swan - CEO of the filth when decisions made; now CEO of Carltank. Carnt think of a better reference!.
  2. Misty eyed hyperbole! Mills and Boon - pure and simple. And a [censored] poor effort at that. Seems Thomas is still looking for a career.
  3. Don't know about DD, but Gilie, Jones, Roughhead, McKernan, Post and Trengrove all went in 2nd Rd, and all have their supporters in the media. To say that there were no more quality talls available after pick 16 is absurd. You make a good point that the other talls we rated might have already been gone by picks 17 & 19, but our draft is very lopsided IMO. Remembering talls/KPP take much longer to develop, I hope like hell that the MFC have some in mind in the PSD and Rookie draft (if we have any spots available). As an aside, Jones, Wonna & Davey (amongst others) had better be looking over their shoulders. Competition for their spots is about to heat up heaps.
  4. Was this announced or reported anywhere?
  5. Bell, Whelan and Moloney are yet to sign contracts for 09 (no announcements that I know of). Could be they're being offered 1 yr and/or performance based contracts?
  6. Seems strange - anyone have any info. No announcements, or have I missed something.
  7. Silence is golden. Don't encourage him.
  8. I don't rate his cousin. Hope this one's better.
  9. No. Gee, the saints have some way to go regarding treatment of people. I'm no great fan of carroll or cousins, but ......
  10. Dunn, Moloney, Whelan & Bell. Still no word on contracts?
  11. And any payment must be out of 2009 TPP, or else we breach this years cap. So he will still be on the list I would presume.
  12. It could happen, except that Carltank have gone public about offering him a 2yr contract. They'd be sued if they pulled out.
  13. What experience would that be?
  14. AFL article. Sad really. In denial.
  15. We might have wasted 5 yrs on him, but he was picked at 36 in the (dreadful) 2003 ND as a father/son pick. Nothing wasted there.
  16. Worst case: just put him in Casey 2's (or no where), and pay his contract week by week. If he has any pride, he will negotiate a (reduced) payout.
  17. Johnson gone. Still no word on contracts for the others. Hmmmm.
  18. I think the point is, that any action against, and thus payout to Carroll before today, Oct 31, goes into 08 payments, and would see us breach the S Cap. From Nov 1, I think, any payout goes under the 09 Cap. So I guess we can expect more action re Carroll from tomorrow onwards.
  19. Upbeat report on him at AFL.COM.AU here.
  20. Read what you have written! Clubs have 40+ players and 5 or 6 coaches. If one of those players is not prepared to drive to Casey for training he's a [censored]; but a coach similarly placed is not? [censored]. As for coaches having emotional connection; nobody, including coaches and players is expected to have an emotional connection to a club these days. $'s is all it would seem. I have no problem with Williams going to the dogs for money & opportunity. I do if travel time to Casey is a reason for moving on. That makes him a [censored]. I for one think we are well rid of him; go the dogs. I repeat earlier posts: our mids went down, down after his arrival. We may have been a tough case - so be it. From where I sit, he gave no upside at all. He has nothing to recommend him.
  21. [censored]. A professional coach does what he needs to. A little extra km's is nothing. Williams is a [censored].
  22. Demons flogged before a bounce Check out Carltanks draw. Been bottom or near bottom for 8 or 9 years. '09 they "will play on a Sunday on only four occasions in 2009, enjoy six Friday nights and have 16 matches broadcast free-to-air. " Saints have gone backwards with respect to the draw, despite having made a prelim in '09. Conclusion: a good draw has nothing to do with succeeding on the field.

    Rd 1 2009

I would promote Valenti. Wona must also be promoted - no sure thing.
  24. RF, where did you hear/read this reported? And what, he didn't want to travel to Casey regularly?
  25. I stand corrected. I had it in my head that Ratten was an assistant coach at MFC in 2006. It was of course in 2004. (I am still pleased Williams has gone.)
