  1. A bit strong, don't you think. My point is that Bailey is senior coach, and responsible for all assistant coaches appointed at his request (excepting Williams, who was carried over). No assistant coaches had any ongoing affect on their areas. What started badly finished the same eg kick ins. And following a poor first half, what did he say to make the 2nd half even worse.
  2. Believe what you like. And your membership number is???
  3. Crap. This was a generation changing, a history changing massive loss. Read the posts. 1st game of year, 1st game for coach, 1st game for 2 assistant coaches, 1st game after pathetic past year (hear all the talk about Carlton tanking; implication is they would have beaten Melbourne if they wanted to). Players played as if they hadn't played before; coaches performed as if they didn't know what to do. 3 and half to 4 months preseason. For what?
  4. Crap. Melbourne has an unbelievably favourable vibe from most supporters in the AFL. The DEES are most (Melbourne) people's second club. There is heaps of good feeling. The club, for what ever reason, can't harness it. And read my post - my cheque is in post for membership.
  5. Back line - Sean Wellman Under the pump all day, undersized. Pathetic kick in plans (no plans?) from behinds. Missing Brown and Bizzle. Verdict: Failure Why? Lack of organisation, 1st timers (Garland et al) at sea, with no direction. Still had kick-in stuff ups in Q4 Mid-Field - Paul Williams Poor delivery to forwards. Unable to capitalise on tap wins. Unaccountable for opponents. Continually went wide. Verdict - Failure Why? Apart from skill errors, disorganised, and unaccountable all game long Forward Line - Josh Mahoney Lack of leading. Lack of movement. Lack of organisation. Unaccountable for opponents. No defensive pressure. Poor delivery from mid-field. Verdict - Failure Why? See above. Particularly no change/improvement as game went on. Senior Coach - Dean Bailey All sections losing. Very poor 1st Q, holding 2nd Q. Disastrous 2nd half. No assistant coaches performing. Verdict - Failure Why? After poor 1st half, players looked as if they were playing AFL footy for 1st time in 2nd half. What did he say at half-time? No game plan. If there was one, no player knew it. 3+ months preseason! For what? Know one knew what was going on! Overall- Pathetic failure Make no mistake, the buck stops with Bailey. He has the coaching team he wants, and an extra $500K for football department.
  6. No, the club should/must play the players, coaches etc. What I am suggesting is that they give a weeks wages (after tax) back. Wait til end of year? Club might be in $5M debt by then, not $2.5M
  7. Clean hands, no marks. This is the worrying part. Reminds me of Miller as a lead up CHF. Presents well, gives a contest, but mostly drops marks.
  8. Why? Because I don't blindly give a tick to anything Melbourne the club does, or feel there is nothing I can do about it? If I don't barrack for/support Melbourne, I don't watch AFL; simple as that. But why don't you all question/challenge employees (ie players, coaches, admin) who do not do their job. Draw a line in the sand. Put their $'s where their mouth's are. Why is that so hard to take on. Bloody simple to me. They were pathetic and should be ashamed to take $'s for their effort. Oh, and my cheque is in the post for membership this week. You'll have to trust me on that one. This forum is currently full of comments about how poorly the team has performed, that they have set a new generational low. SO RING THE CLUB AND DEMAND THEY GIVE A WEEKS WAGES BACK. If nothing else it will help when the club has to fork over $100K when home games at MCG fall below 20,000, which will be often. Go on, I challenge you. For heaven's sake grow up. Since when should people throw (large) amounts of $'s at something, with no accountability. Remember, Melbourne has the same salary cap as Geelong (or St Kilda, Collingwood, Essendon ..........). Nope. Been to the snow twice in my life (day visits, neither time to ski, can't ski). I'm a salary earner like most of you, and have had 2 (modest) holidays in the past 6+ years. Got a family, and like most of us, $'s are in short supply.
  9. Looks like we'll have company in the cellar. Bet Ladley won't be mild mannered!

Didn't the approach to Jones's training change to reduce his bulk, and increase his speed. Haven't they learnt anything?
  11. I have a sneaking suspicion that we may have Carlton for competition for 1st draft pick. Don't forget they got done by Richmond (!) by 5 goals.
  12. If enough noise was made. Hey moderator, what about a survey/poll? I'll consider it. Hey that's better than where I was last nite!
  13. Wasn't he the bloke at Geelong before they p*ssed him off (with acrimony I think), got a new bloke, reduced soft tissue injuries and went on to a flag?
  14. Yes, I think you can. Try and perform any skill under pressure, when you are stuffed/knackered/tired and you will usually shank it, or make a mess of it.
  15. Hi Calabreseboy, by professional, I mean that they are competitive, not necessarily to win. Some of those players running around yesterday get $500K plus pa - say $10K per week. Can they honestly look themselves in the mirror, and say they earned it? So, don't you think they should give the $'s back? Accountability will start when $'s are involved.
  16. But don't you think they should give the $'s back?
  17. Fair enough Go the Biff (I remember Ray), I'm a barracker, not supporter. But don't you think they should give the $'s back? Pea-heart? - I'd say that's what Melbourne is full of at the moment; don't need another one Anyway, they won't get my hard-earned (I can't make games) until I see some professionalism. Want some more examples of pea-heart? Try 198/9? (Balm was coach) - entrenched in top 4, 5 or 6 games to go, need to win 1 to make sure of getting in the finals, lost them all. Not much has changed in 20 years (or even 45 years, since Barassi left). Why do I bother now? Well I've jumped off the team (and the AFL) a number of times over the years, but you can't take the blue-and-red out of the kid (had Bluey Adams 6 on my back as a kid). Wish you could - I was an ass-h round the house last night after the loss.
  18. And what's the name of the new fitness guru? You know the one Geelong got rid of before getting on its way to a premiership.
  19. Truth is, he was the only tradeable midfielder. And he didn't set the world on fire with Brisbane on Saturday.
  20. I have been a supporter all my life, but have only recently moved to within driving distance at least. So for 2 years, I have been considering becoming a member. Yesterday is why I haven't - they are simply not professional. Most of Melbourne's salary cap was on the park yesterday - a lot of Hawthorn's was not. Yet it was Melbourne who were just an amateurish rabble; I doubt they would have beaten a good VFL side. So here's the rub: the Melbourne players should consider handing back their pay cheque for this week (after tax of course); if you don't do a job, you shouldn't be paid. And you can add the coaching staff. Either the game plan is crap, or the players don't know it - either way the coaching staff have failed also. So here's the challenge: players and coaching staff give back a weeks salary, and I'll become a member. At least I know they are being accountable and are accepting responsibility, not just talking.
