  1. The Wayne `Flash` Gordon Memorial award
  2. Yep, injuries have cruelled us plenty of times before. We should have won a flag somewhere between 98 and `02, but injuries crippled us. This is the only thing that will stop our surge and as you say, lets hope they have learnt how to manage our seemingly never ending list of injured players.
  3. We will play finals in 2011, no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Top 4 in 2012 and then the fun begins. If we don`t win a flag in 2013, we will the following year. The reason I am so certain is because we will have a number of elite players, perhaps superstars in our team which we have really lacked for as long as I can remember in my 40 yrs as a Demon. Grimes, Morton, Watts and Jurrah will become AA players, Sylvia looks like he has decided he will use his freakish talents on the footy field and not King Street, Davey just might keep getting better and our backline is shaping up to be the best in the comp in 2 to 3 years. Dare I mention the expectations of how good Scully n Trengove will be! Gee , this is gonna be good!
  4. Great stuff Jaded. Love the Hoodies! BTW, Have you picked yourself up the ``exclusive members polo top`` on special for $10. They were obviously a massive hit this year! They need your help, seriously!
  5. Both trained today! How dare they catch a plane without letting us know what it`s about
  6. Someone has to comment on this post. Classic!! My pick. PJ to show early 2006 form before he did his shoulder! I`m not confident but gee it would be great for our team.
  7. Finished about 16th. Might improve to 11th or 12th next year!!
  8. Good Luck fellas. I think both might get a chance elsewhere. Were the Swans sniffing around for Valenti? Thought Bucks might have been a big improver this year but not to be due to injury. Unlucky!
  9. If we get him, I`d say he is a certainty to be our next Captain. Just like Judd did at Carlton. There are simply no better leaders at Melbourne than Luke Ball. The only other person being considered for Juniors successor within the next 12 months would be Flash, and he may well have been offered this role to lure him back to the club when he was one footstep from the door just 2 weeks ago. Luke Ball is all class, my only concern is his body. Saying that, I think his injuries had come pretty good towards the end of the season, the problem was his relationship with Lyon and lack of game time. He did not seem to be too injured in the GF and he may well have a full pre season this yearwhich I don`t think he has had for years!
  10. Funny to think that this blokes career just might be over at this moment. Never mind Jordie, you will always be a cult hero on these pages. We love ya !! May you enjoy watching the progress of Scully as much as we do! BTW, that was a great kick under pressure!
  11. I`d be sad for Barts, but I think he will be first to go. I don`t feel he can progress much further with his AFL career. I wish him all the best.
  12. What about Geelong`s part in the Burgoyne trade. Losing pick 33(I think) for 3 lower picks. I`m confused
  13. I agree. There is no way we will pick up a player who will not be a part of our next flag tilt. If he was 26 I`d be keen!
  14. Confirmed on SEN. Burgoyne a hawk! Williams to Essendon, Nash to Port plus drat picks all over the place
  15. As new!! Last years lasted maybe 3 months! Must have upped the merchandise budget this year!
  16. I wouldn`t be so certain. This bloke is extremely versatile. He`s a natural winger/half back but actually dominated in the ruck in Round 20 or 21 I believe it was against Fraser I think. He simply has not had a go at the Doggies. He only managed to get a run when players were injured, the get dropped despite playing OK as the injured players returned. Keep in mind, this is a team that came awfully close to a GF this year. He would easily make our best 22 Round 1 next year if we pick him up!
  17. I can confirm that Melbourne are definitely keen to get him. Carlton probably the more likely outcome however!
  18. A brand new poster `Dafatcat` was ridiculed on this site for stating as fact that the Brock rumour was in fact going to happen. It happened a little more than 24 hours later and he mentioned another star was about to walk with him. We only have 1 star at this point in time, and that is Davey. Sure, we would get a sensational deal you would think if this was to happen, but we simply can`t afford to lose this bloke. Flash deserves to be the highest paid bloke on our list IMO and with our recent easing of the salary cap with retirements over the past 2 years we should be doing whatever it takes to keep him at our club.
  19. I saw this too! Very concerning. Wonder if Essendon are throwing Lovett into the equation with perhaps another draft pick??
  20. I agree with your earlier point that the traditional forward setup is history and this why I think the Master will become a very damaging forward in a few years time. Watts and Jurrah will take the 2 best backmen in the coming years leaving Bater with a lesser opponent where he could run amok. He is a big Unit and might even get bigger. He is not your classic CHF. He can look quite slow at times and the next game he can show some amazing speed which may come down to injury he may have carried at times during the season. Tonnes of upside to Bater. Rate him highly!
  21. I know for a fact that he is very frustrated at his lack of game time at the Dogs. He only seemed to get a game when injuries opened up a spot in the team for him. He wouldn`t play badly, but not do enough to keep his spot in the team. He has just signed a 2 year contract with the Dogs only a month or so ago so I doubt he will be leaving in a hurry! He will become a very good player but if he were on the trade table I don`t see where he would fit in our team ATM as our backline is shaping up beautifully.
  22. Seeing Eddie and Joffa close to tears makes me a bit teary myself. Then I saw that Geelong fan wearing the gold glittery jacket and I managed a smile once again. Knowing that we will win a flag before Collingwood makes me feel even better still! Suffer in ya jocks Old Xav
  23. I was thinking the same thing. Many thought the weather would even the teams out and the D`s were a chance! Boy, they put a show on that night and we had our pants pulled down. I would love another close game but wouldnt mind seeing a pantsing either. Go Cats
  24. Good call Fan! I was there as a neutral observer not too concerned by the result but would have preferred a Crows win. I was buried deep among Pies fans who were all surprisingly civil, but what I could not believe was their noise and their passion. It was pretty awesome to be there to be honest. The crowd go them over the line, there is no doubt (along with Knights` hammy!)
  25. The players used to kick out beautiful Red n Blue Sherrins before the game back in the early 80`s and as a 12 year old I scrapped with a number of fans under the seats next to the old Melbourne players race which I vividly remember slipping through my hands from a bullet pass by Cameron Clayton. I won the scrap luckily but was spewing I spilt the grab in the first place. Along with his autograph, I have Peter Moore, Brian Wilson, Kelvin Templeton and Gerard Healy signatures (all Brownlows) Laurie Fowler, Robbie Flower, Mark Jackson, Alan Johnson, Peter Giles, Peter Keenan, Adrian Battiston, Brent Crosswell, Roger Ellingworth, Steven Smith and a few others that escape me! The ball is in near perfect knick however the signatures are starting to fade. I will never part with it!
