  1. So where are we at with this 10 days out from our season opener? I was pleasantly surprised with our willingness to look into the centre corridor against The Tiges, didn’t come off every time due to skill error but when it did it looked awesome and we became less predictable with I50 entries. That completely disappeared against The Dogs. Was it as a result of the players sidelined, or do we simply crumble when too much pressure is put on which The Dogs did beautifully. We have not changed the kickouts where we kick to Max at every opportunity (the same side of the ground most of the time) and we continue with a hard press that leaves us vulnerable when we turn it over. Still lots of long bombing inside 50 too. Anyone notice anything different from previous years?
  2. Added to the list along with Majak according to SEN.
  3. Agree, it was a terrible decision by the club not to resolve this with an established player such as Phillips. We`ve screamed for outside run for years now and we have failed to bring in anyone with the right attributes. Tomlinson was certainly not the answer. Fritter is probably the best suited but we cant afford to take him out of the forwardline. I think they should give Hunt a go here, he is not ideal but I don`t think he is the answer off halfback. Left field maybe Rivers. Just another mindboggling oversight from the club that this hasnt been addressed and now with the manning the mark rule it is even more critical than ever before to get this right.
  4. Absolutely. I thought Harmes was just a pass, the rest were really ordinary. I’ve been a big fan of AVB but he is well past his best now and will struggle to get a game this year.
  5. Leading possessions for us at half time
  6. Classic case of Chinese Whispers. The young fella was Corey Ellison (#10) who was sporting a rude mullet. About the only similarities he and TMac have is height.
  7. LDC I’ve had no trouble synching up with Kayo and a selection of your preferred radio stations thru the AFL app. Usually I have to pause live TV for about 10-15 secs to synch. it’s a far better experience. I was driven to this mostly because of Bruce, it was becoming nauseating.
  8. I reckon Bowey will play early in the season. I’m not sold on Bowery or Bowrey just yet but if all 3 play it would be a great story!
  9. Footy will be more enjoyable to be honest. I used to cringe at some of his drooling of the stars. Will never forget creepy Bruce behind Dusty at The Brownlow. Great race caller though. All the best Bruce.
  10. Not at the expenses of winning games of football. 3 blokes out yesterday I’d rather have in the team than him if they are fit. Pickett, Brayshaw, Melksham. Jones was serviceable yesterday though and exceeded my expectations.
  11. Won’t bother me. It’s our fortress!
  12. I think we can see a clear change in game plan. We are looking to go into the corridor far more than previous years. Whilst our disposal has been a bit off at times creating turnovers, it looks great when it comes off. If we can get a bit cleaner I think this bodes real well with our pace off the half back and wing.
  13. I haven't read the article OD but my understanding from someone at the club is Victoria will need 28 days of zero cases to have 50% crowds attend. There will be an option for 30% crowds subject to case numbers as well but not certain of case numbers required for that. Even 30% crowd maximum shouldn't bother us bar 3 or 4 games lol.
  14. Here's an idea.... How about we just play him as an inside mid where he finished 3rd in a brownlow. One of the more peculiar coaching decisions along with Harmes at half back. We definitely have an abundance of inside mids so I agree someone is likely to be traded.
  15. Interesting Bob. Havent heard from old mate Hazy Shade of Grinter for a while. These are the threads he used to pop up in, wonder who he was and what happened to him!?
  16. This thread is getting completely derailed. Can we just get back to discussing Idi Amin
  17. Best qtr of footy the girls have ever played. Standard is excellent from both teams.
  18. We've been so one dimensional and predictable heading into F50 for 2 years. This is not ideal but hopefully this forces our hand to be more creative and change things up.
  19. Surprised it took this long. There would have been a queue of sponsors lining up at The Holden Centre demanding his resignation.
  20. Agree loges. Geez we can jump to conclusions quickly. Wasn't long ago that a large proportion on here rated May's recruitment a flop because he came to us not in pristine condition, schooner gate, and early injury. If it becomes a Mitch Clarke type scenario then sure rant away all and sundry but let's just cool our jets a little.
  21. I like this rule change. One other they must change is the 50m penalty for " encroaching " on the player with ball from a free kick or mark. Rarely is the "encroacher" slowing the player down. It's also completely random when umps pay it or not. A blight on the game.
  22. Thanks everyone for your beautiful words. We farewelled Mark at a beautiful service yesterday with the MFC ever present. There were quite a few people including his kids wearing Dees merchandise. His coffin was draped in a Dees flag and cap and `Grand old flag` was played whilst showing Marks life in pictures. I spoke of his love for our club during my speech. I`m once again grateful to the club for organising a video which we aired of Steven May who Mark sponsored, sending his condolences and best wishes to his family and friends. I`m pretty sure I got the 3 votes at his wake last night, a very sore head today.
  23. Its with a very heavy heart I write this tonight. Mark lost his battle with cancer this morning. He fought bravely for around 3 or 4 years and was in quite good health even a few months ago but has been hospitalised the past few weeks. We played cards by his bed with another mate on Saturday night and he was in a happy, positive frame of mind and even gaining physical strength for a few days when out of nowhere he felt really crook so we let him get some rest. Its the last time I heard from him. He was as passionate a Demon as you could find and like many of us, a very nervous unit when watching us play. He would get so nervous when watching at home that he`d get up and fold washing or put dishes away when things got tight in the last qtr. rather than watch the TV. He has been a player sponsor for around 9 years of Jesse Hogan and now Steven May along with having his kids being members for sometime so has made a significant financial contribution to our great club for a long time. Many of you may remember him being quite open about losing his wife to cancer 4 years ago. The only positive I can find from this is that he is now with her, I know he missed her terribly. He leaves behind 3 young kids who will live the rest of their lives without parents, and 2 older kids who need to somehow get on with their own lives and bring up those younger kids. Life can be bloody cruel at times. I told him wherever he ends up that I`ll drink a bottle of his favourite scotch with him when we win the flag, but did joke that I`ll likely be on the other side of hell with him when that happens. I want to add how grateful I am to the MFC, particularly Tamara who I`ve been in close contact with in regards to Marks health. She organised an MFC polo and cap (Mark wore a Mark Neeld era polo nearly every single day since I met him) along with a handwritten card of support from Big Max. It arrived on Friday by express post, any later and he`d never have seen it.The smile on his face was priceless. RIP Mark, I miss you buddy.
  24. Agree 100% Cats by 85 ?
