First 4 qtr performance for years. Showed composure when Hawks were coming in the 3rd. Some exciting signs that we are well in the mix particularly with our lack of injuries compared to other teams losing players everywhere! No passengers, a fantastic team effort with a few elite rising above.

Only 3 people that concern me. Sicily.... Need to get into his head early so he loses his focus. (Melksham may have a role here and doesn't mind the niggle.) I Smith..... How many times has he either set up line breaking goals or bounced 2,3 times before goaling himself against us for a decade. Clarkson.... Heat turned up on Hawks all week will have him salivating. Pates l have Kayo so I can pause the stream but I'm sure you can do the following even with free to air with modern smart TVs. Step 1. Mute Bruce and all the other tripe on ch7. (it is now horrendous and ruins the game) Step 2. Listen to your choice of radio through the AFL app on your phone and play thru your Bluetooth speaker. Step 3 Pause the stream/live TV until it is in sync with the radio call. There were about 7 radio stations to choose from, even WA or SA stations for the masochists. I can't tell you how much more enjoyable an experience it is.

Agree Balls. Melk often takes the oppos backline playmaker and minimises their influence on games. Yes he's down on form a little but too many people just look at stats to rate a player's performance. No change for me unless injuries involved (TMac) or we need to manage players pending the fixture release.

I used to get offended when commentators called us an irrelevant team. But that is exactly what we are. I can't ever remember an opposition laughing and smiling as much as i saw today. They simply don't rate us and nor should they. We are a laughing stock!

Think I heard they'll be based in Manly. If true, about as good as it gets in Sydney.

We are in violent agreement with all points Martian. Channel 7 commentary probably has a fair bit to do with the overall decline in the enjoyment of the viewing the game. It's painful and cringe worthy to listen to at times. Admittedly the NRL has the advantage of at least some crowd in attendance which enhances the atmosphere, but it's more the quality of the game that has gone forward as quick as our game has gone backwards. And guess what, they have made some rule changes that have had an instant impact on the speed of the game. Wake up AFL !!

First thing they need to do which is not even a rule change is stop the ruck nomination and just toss the ball up as soon as the umpteenth gets his hands on the ball. Will have a huge effect on crowded stoppages and open the game up.

I hope the AFL sit down and watch last nights Storm v Roosters match. Their product is light years ahead of us and far more enjoyable to watch. They are 2 of the best defending teams for a decade and yet it was fast, attacking, entertaining and high scoring. I'm a footy tragic in my 50s but my interest is at an all time low. The spectacle is putrid right now.

I'd take it with a grain of salt Bobby, he also said Geelong weren't that good after they gave the Hawks a hiding at the cattery just a few weeks ago.

Astbury is a big out for The Tiges. Their backline is now light on for talls, and Grimes won't be anywhere near as effective with his mate out. Great time for The Weed to return.

He's still being played out of position. Prior to Langdon and Tomlinson recruitment, he was our most natural winger. We've never tried him there as far as I can remember.

Yep, it's a season like no other and will not surprise me if it happens such is the severity of Victoria's infection spike. Gives us another opportunity to blame the footy gods when we play Richmond back into form lol.

Among all the pessimism (rightly so) I just wanted to acknowledge Hibberd's attack on the footy to start the 4th qtr that took Dangerfield out. Highlight of the match for me.

We are averaging just under 50 points per game. Each game in perfect conditions. It's going to be a long shortened season!

Waited 2 weeks for that FFS. What a horrible spectacle. Should've won in the end though, just not good enough.

I think had we not played the intra club game then absolutely it would have been, but we played that game after being told there would be no midweek game according to a report I just read. Gerard Whateley is dumbfounded that it won't happen.
