  1. We stopped going backwards and some spots of recovery forward and back are good. We havent gone forward enough to register this year as progress IMO. Others have had worse years. I would be happy to not win more games than 10 for a couple of years if we could watch fast running positive play. The worst thing for me about our team is watching the scragging style we have to play to eek out a contest.
  2. If there are a few scattered 9's and 10s amongst a lot of 5 and 6's for midfielders then Max Gawn might scare a few with a late run.
  3. Yet you let go the genius who said two thirds of the teams will finish the year with a loss...
  4. So now we need to listen to how we had a successful year? Pull the other one! Ive given up ever seeing finals again. We are truely miles off.
  5. I said an equally silly remark at the end of David Cordners career.
  6. What ever Jack Watts is worth this year, it is much more than it would be next year in my opinion. I would be happier keeping Jack Grimes who is about equally effective because Grimes gives it a red hot go. Watts is worth more on the table though.
  7. From a betting point of view, $9 for North against the tiges seems over even though theyve rested many. Probably wrong but the Tiges have got the propensity to fail spectacularly.
  8. Thanks Stannis, well done!
  9. Sabotage is no joke Nasher. But the old line about when deciding between a conspiracy or a fackup, always back stupidity comes to mind. When Rorys folks came back suddenly from Adelaide earlier this year, I thought he was on the move, now Ive taken the $23 on them for the flag. Dont think theyll win but the odds are good.
  10. Melbourne told Sloane he was going at our priority pick (17) but it was Blease, then Strauss (19) and he was still there for our 3rd pick Jamie Bennell (35). Ill stop now.
  11. I think Sam listened to Barry Prendergast when he said he was going to be a much better footballer than his Eastern Ranges captain Rory Sloane. He was picked at 17 in 2008 draft. Sloane went at #44. Sloanes family were justly outraged. Sam probably still thinks Big Bustling Barry was right.
  12. So I went looking. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/season/statistics He has kicked 9.6 this year. He has averaged .5 goals per game. It doesnt give a stat for totally missing everything. I think he is more likely to kick the difficult ones from the boundary rather than straight in front. In any case its not great.
  13. Wrong. I dont have stats, but he generally misses set shots. If I had to guess Id say Dawes then Hogan were better by far. I bring it up because many posters say that Watts best attribute is his kicking. I think Dawes not only is most times a good set shot but is ready to contest hard for the ball. Watts never does this. They both fall short on contested marks, in my jaundiced view.
  14. Watts may be a great kick in general play but he is a bad set shot.
  15. Id say better than even chance. I want him traded.
  16. Its clear to me PR has given up on at least some of the current list. I think he has said the same thing too many times. I hope his concentration is set on new blood because It looks like he has something else to worry about. Must be something big to look so dis-affected by the teams effort.
  17. I'd like to see other teams need to fill the space he leads into. Oh that's right he doesn't lead. I'd also be happy with Tom Mac teaching him all about one grabbers.
  18. I prefer to think PR is playing (recruiting) the man, rather than the ball (matchday coaching). I have not much faith that Im right.
  19. Its a death march
  20. Watts Grimes Lumumba Toumpas all need to go at end of year fire sale. Grimes and Toumpas try but brain explodes when they have the the ball. Watts and Lumumba just go through the motions
  21. I alluded to it in the danger field thread. One on one meeting in board room with Pr and DH. I promised I wouldn't say who it was but it was noticed by people who work there. Who could miss that mop?
  22. Roos greatest assets will come to light in his last year. I honestly believe we are right in the mix for some great footballers who are being hypnotised by PR in these last weeks of the season. I agree he seemingly has a blase match day look and Ive nearly given up the ghost but I think there will be great signings at the end of the year. Ive never made claims before.
  23. Its not Danger and staff saw them in there.
  24. And now I hear of one on one meetings with Paul Roos in the Board Room. Have to be a DH not to think there is whiff of new life.
  25. So I say what I heard and add that it is probably excited clutterback from people not in the know. Then I get told it stinks from WJ who has done the same thing in the Carlilse thread only that, was at a toffy dinner (he didnt pay for). Seems odd.
