Positive Trade Out (Non Regrettable)
Demonstone replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trading Jordie Gysberts to North in exchange for Cam Pedersen was very much a win for us. -
Source? Or just your imagination?

I voted "no" but it's a moot point as I always watch with the sound muted so I don't have to suffer the egotistical boofhead callers.

No such thing as a "sign on fee" is there? He didn't sign anyway, so I think you may be mistaken.

Couldn't agree more about Martin, he's gone to have a very good career at Brisbane. As far as Howe goes, I thought it was well known that he went to Collingwood for less money than what we were offering because he was a Magpie diehard growing up and he was promised a spot in their forward line. We all know that didn't last long!

It was a bit more complicated than that, jnrmac. The following from Wikipedia: Jarman was initially drafted by Melbourne with pick 55 in the inaugural 1986 VFL Draft.,[2] but chose to remain in Adelaide with the Roosters. Once the Demons' three-year rights to Jarman lapsed, Brisbane claimed him with a concessional pre-draft selection in the 1989 VFL Draft.[3] Once again Jarman chose to stay in his home state. In 1990 the turmoil that led to the creation of the Adelaide Crows and thereby automatically relegated the SANFL to secondary importance within South Australia caused Jarman to reassess his career. Following some friction with the Crows' football manager Neil Kerley, Jarman chose to head east, signing for Hawthorn after the club traded pick 10 in the 1990 AFL Draft to the Bears for his contractual rights

My memory is that we asked for Bartel but Geelong wisely wouldn't let him go. Moloney wasn't our first choice. -

Nice one as usual, s.o.n.s. Do you just have a fantastic memory or is there a resource you consult to assist you? "Ratten" I believe would be Johnny "The Rat" Platten. -
Where did it all go wrong for the Demons?
Demonstone replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry everybody, but I blame myself. In the first seven years of my life, we won four premierships and were a powerhouse. I then reached the age where it was necessary to pick a team and I went for the one with colours that I liked. 55 years later... Conversely, my mate from school picked Hawthorn because of their colours (I know) and has since enjoyed twelve flags and he doesn't let me forget about it either the smug mongrel. -
Dees vs Kangaroos 1991 Jakovich’s 11 Goals

We recruited Clark from Essendon in 1990, but he only played two seasons with us despite looking like a decent player in my view. His first year was wrecked by a knee injury and he only played three games, but came back to play 18 games in 1991. He was surprisingly delisted and then moved to St Kilda. Sadly, Clark passed away in 2005. -
I think "Stewart" is the surname of another player! If it's 1964, it would be Michael Minton-Connell. His brother Adrian, who is Simon's father, didn't come to the club until a couple of years later. Adrian married Peter Hudson's sister.

Paywall. -
If they played it at the MCG with no crowd, it would be an MT Grand Final.

When did "hub" become a verb?

Very nice hardtack, but that singer looks like a bit of a roughnut!

You're suggesting that getting him back to full health is a mammoth task?

I'm absolutely loving this thread and I commend you on the work you've put into it. Fantastic effort! -
Jesus wept.

I first noticed Schwarz running around in the Under 19s at the MCG one day, replete with long blond hair and bandanna. It was clear that he was going to be something special and it wasn't long before he became my favourite player. If only his knees had been OK. I clearly remember opening the Sunday paper and reading that he'd done his knee for the third time in a practice match at Lavington. There was a picture of him and his girlfriend watching from the stands later in the game and I reckon I was as close to tears as he appeared to be in that pic.

In an interesting quirk, three wearers of number 49 then went on to wear number 26. I think the only other number to be worn in a senior match is the 67 sported by Jeff Garlett in round 10 of 2017.

Nice work, David.

That's six, David! And Schwarz doesn't have a "t" in his name.
