Twilight/Night Grand Final
Of course Ernest, but we all know it will never happen, because: a) it makes too much sense for the AFL to cope with; b) the polls would tell them that club members would vote overwhelmingly for the status quo, and they couldn't cope with that either; c) 'democracy' (or anything approaching it), is not a word in the AFL lexicon.

Lyon: Oliver is Demons best EVER midfielder
Most top line players have a few special qualities that put them in a class of their own. Clarry has has a list of attributes which set him apart again. His awareness (sometimes seems like 360 degree vision), speed and almost flawless execution regardless of the situation and pressure around him, his elite footy IQ and is ability move quickly (and win) contest after contest, are qualities that are peerless among current AFL ranks. Match these qualities with the mutual understanding he has with the best ruckman the competition, and the sky is the limit for Clarry.

Fritsch Raring to Go
I agree that Fritta might get extra attention this year Chazz, but we have such a strong list that opposition teams won't be able to put extra time into everyone! Barring injury, I'd be surprised if Fritta doesn't play every game. I see him primarily as a wingman, but one who has proven flexibility to do well in a variety of positions. That's where his versatility will really come into its own.

I mentioned in an email to a Demon mate that there was a whisper going around that a new sponsor (BOJ) might be announced on Monday. His reply "Bank of Japan"?

AFLW: Shae Sloane Ruptures ACL on debut
Rotten luck .... looked so innocuous.

AFLW: Rd 1 vs Fremantle
Way too many turnovers from 'hail mary' handpasses in tight situations ............ reminiscent of our AFL team of a few years back. And as others have said, we need a couple of defenders who can read the play, and put themselves in the right spots to defend. We were far too reactive in the back half, had poor strength in the contest and our marking skills were well down compared to Freo, and most other teams I saw across the weekend. Only Round 1, but it's a short season!

AFLW: Rd 1 vs Fremantle
I'll be doing the same in Canberra '72. I actually thought the standard of Bulldogs vs Crows last night was a significant notch up on anything I've seen previously in AFLW. I hope our girls can match it!

100 Days Until Round 1
I just watched Mitch Hannan's GOTY, and then re-watched it another eight times. That used up three or four minutes! ? ps. the goal still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, and the elation in the crowd still brings a tear to my eye.

Injury List - Season 2019
I'm sure we will be conservative and give Lever all the time he needs to get back to 100%. Further, I was delighted to hear that he will be going to the States to do the same post operative recovery / strengthening program as Petracca. No doubt luck plays a significant part with these things, but with the right precautions, you can at least reduce the likelihood of further bad luck.

Gary Pert?
I know talk is cheap, but imo that was an impressive interview.

2019 Leadership Group
Yeah, I can see your point of view Adam. However, I don't really view it as being about Jonesy's ego, but more about recognising his stalwart leadership over an arduous journey for our Club. If for some reason that's not in the best interests of the Club as a whole, then the sure, scenario obviously changes. I agree 100% with your second sentence, and I have no doubt that both Jones and Lewis would do exactly that.

2019 Leadership Group
I like the current structure with two joint captains and joint VCs. We only moved to this smaller group earlier this year, and it would be silly to change it now imo. I'd love to see Max as joint captain with Jack, but I think it's unlikely to happen for 2019. It might be seen as too disruptive, and unfair on Jonesy who led us well through the 'dark times' when we had no other 'real' leaders. He has earned another year, I reckon. I think Lever will probably be promoted for 2020, when I'd expect Lewis to step down. A definite 'no' on May from me. He needs to earn his stripes at Melbourne before being considered.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
FWIW, John Ralph on tonight's "Trade Lowdown" (Fox) said that the parties involved in the mega deal involving Neale, Hogan and others, were still locked away in discussions at 7:00pm. He seemed fairly confident that the deals to get done.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Thanks PD. Based purely on my own judgement, I would not have been keen on chasing May. However, over recent years our recruiters have had considerable success in making the right calls at this time of the year, and only a fool would ignore that. They are paid professionals, and they see and analyse a hell of a lot more than us mere fans. Your post confirms (to me) that it's very easy for us fans to focus on the trees while ignoring the forest.
