  1. Abso-bloody-lutely!! Reinstate Brock next year if he proves that he can keep his nose clean for the rest of the year.
  2. Yep. I like that Syl. Just make sure he's not totally overwhelmed (burnt out) by playing on bigger, stronger opponents every week. May have to leave Carroll there for remainder of this season to share some of the load.
  3. That's how I saw the positives too. Plus a bit of gut running from Robbo (for the first time this season), and good work ethic from McLean, who may be getting over the negative effects of a shortened pre season.
  4. Great to have a positive thread!! IMHO 1. Neitz: a true champion who bleeds for the the Club every week. 2. Rivers: undersized for a KPP, but reads the play so well and is rarely beaten. A 'general' down back and can only assume that he's not part of the current leadership group because he missed most of 2007. 3. Morton: oozes class. Also like what I read about Grimes ... sad that we won't be seeing him for a while. 4. R.D. Barassi: the premierships speak for themselves. Apologies to Alves, Wells, H.Mann, Flower, Lyon & Shwarz (before he did his knee).
  5. Hey, while I understand exactly what you are trying to say, its a pretty sweeping statement to say that those who didn't get to the NM game on Saturday let the club down. My wife and I live in Canberra, we are fully paid members and have been for many years (Platinum in my case). We attended the Family Day, and the Hawthorn game, and will attend several more matches during the season, including our birthday / 'red and blue army' celebration on the Queen's Birthday weekend. We also happen know several other Mfc members who live in Canberra, and are every bit as passionate as you, but for obvious reasons can't get to every game. Sorry to be so sensitive about this one, but I see red when anybody questions my support for the mighty Demons.
  6. What a great thread this is so far...... well spoken all of you. We are taking the first steps in what is likely to be an uncomfortable journey ... but stay on board .... the rewards will follow! Mfc FOREVER!!
  7. There's no good reason. The Club would be better off without 'supporters' like you!
  8. A bloke of Y-M's obvious talents, should look for a job as a list manager at an AFL club. Collingwood would be a good fit!
  9. ABSOLUTELY!! It's time for supporters to stick together for the club they love.
  10. Great pity. One of the few real positives for us so far this season.
  11. In that case, I expect you will start being impressed fairly soon. I am impressed already!!
  12. Is that Johnny Lord (No. 4, 1957 to 1965) and Peter Marquis (No 3, 1953 to 1958)? Sorry, but fond memories of the 50's and 60's came flooding back!
  13. A bit like Todd Viney?
  14. A great prospect. Seems to always have time, and doesn't panic in tight situations ..... outstanding attributes for a kid on the big stage.
  15. Yep. And add the return of Wheels (hopefully next week) and Bater, and a win may not be too far away.
  16. Shite! ....... and 30 seconds after keying this, I read that he's now been placed on the long term injury list!
  17. There hasn't been anything to enthuse about in rounds 1 and 2, so you could probably do worse than go for an untried youngster. Jack Grimes (No 16) seems to have the right credentials ....... if we can ever get him onto the 'G'. "Grimes is a medium defender/midfielder who is an exceptional reader of the game and a very good decision maker. Captain of the Northern Knights TAC Cup team, Grimes averaged more than 28 possessions per match. Possesses excellent endurance and has recorded a beep test of 15.10 with the AIS-AFL Academy. Named as an All-Australian at the 2007 NAB AFL U18 Championships" (Player profile, MFC Website). I've also read somewhere that he displayed outstanding leadership qualities as a junior. It's a terrible reflection on where the MFC are at at present that I'm suggesting an untried player number for your 'pride and joy', but on the other hand, imagine the bragging rights 5 years down the track, when when Jack is widely regarded as a superstar, she'll be able to claim that she wore his number even before he had played his first game .... even better if she can get it autographed and dated!!
  18. Spot on ...... an excellent analysis! Isn't it amazing how quickly our game is evolving?
  19. You sure could have done a lot worse Bobby!! I was a babe of '48, the year we beat the Bombers in the GF replay. While I can't truthfully claim to remember that day, I can certainly remember many of the 'highs' of our glory years in the late 50's and early 60's. Unfortunately I also remember bawling my eyes out on the last Saturday in September '58, which is probably why I totally endorse your sentiments about C'wood. There have been generations of disappointments since '64, but I'm proud of the fact that I've hung in there, as passionate as ever, in the hope and true belief that another flag is just around the corner. Seems like you and I are kindred spirits in our support of our beloved Demons. Goodonya!!
  20. Some strong words in there, but can't disagree that he's not been the same player since.
  21. Agree Rhino ... and if we are looking at our most valuable going forward, I would find a spot for PJ. Only two games in, but IMO he's shown more than most, and enough to suggest that he can develop into a pretty solid ruckman if given the opportunity.
  22. Absolutely!!! Lived in Canberra for last 40 years, but a Platinum member and proud of it.
  23. What a helpful / constructive comment that is!
  24. Emphtically, 100% agree. Fair enough, we are all disappointed with our start to the season, but right now MFC needs our support, and a bit more patience. Let's leave it to the media, and the so-called 'supporters' who discrace our colours, to sink the boot in.
  25. Another bit of speculation about the omission of Beamer....... Agree that delivery to the forwards was a major problem on the weekend, and IMO Beamer has always been a chronic offender in this regard. Admittedly the forwards didn't give him many options on Sunday, but perhaps there's no part in DB's game plan for a midfielder who habitually bombs it in and hopes for the best.
