Missed several weeks with concussion IIRC.

Definitely a keeper for mine. Currently makes a lot of skill errors (like many of his team mates) but he has too many attributes to be cast aside at this early stage of an injury plagued career. Would be amongst our top few each game for work rate, and if he can improve his disposal and awareness, he could imo, become a very important cog in our mid-field. I expect him to take some big steps forward over summer.

Wellingham/Dawes super trade (scuppered)
Deeoldfart replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
II would expect Dawes and Wellingham to be very serviceable additions to our list, but not at any price. Imo pick 4 should be retained to draft some (hopefully) elite talent, and clearly Dawes and Wellingham are a long way off the elite category. -
Is this for real? When I was a kid (a very long time ago), needing a 'Jimmy Riddle' was rhyming slang for when you needed to go behind the nearest gum tree in the middle of a cow paddock.

No I wouldn't!! Byrnes wants to play for Melbourne, Moloney doesn't. That puts the seal on it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SHANNON BYRNES
Deeoldfart replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great pick-up for all the right reasons. Welcome to the MFC Shannon. -
Couldn't agree more Mydee. As an interstate supporter, Demonland is my football 'lifeblood'. Sincere thanks to all involved in Demonland! I don't know how you do it, but you manage to keep me sane, but drive me mad at the same time.

Great game. Probably the two clubs that I admire most, but I'm really glad the Swans won.
-
He certainly passes enough sh!t to fall into that category!

Dunny has become a solid role player, and is amongst the best few kicks at the Club. Given his versatility, and our dearth of decent kicks, I would have been very surprised if he had been shown the door.

It is 'bub ...... both to drink and as part of an MFC memorabilia collection.

The once only Nudge/Chili rumor round up
Deeoldfart replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
Casboult would be a good pick-up if we could snare him. Might be a better (or at least safer) option to Butcher given Butcher's history of injuries. -
The once only Nudge/Chili rumor round up
Deeoldfart replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
We need decent bait though 'bub ............. an area where we might struggle if the required lure is more than just $s.. -
I really hope this post is 'tongue in cheek', but just in case it's not, does 'high performance with high integrity' ring any bells?
-
Great effort Jonesy. About 40 of our team mates now need to take a leaf out of your book.

Agree. Outstanding tribute to Jimmy. The tears flowed again.
-
Me too daisy, but it looks great none-the-less.

Norm's name will be always synonymous with AFL greatness, so long as the game is played. It will be great to have a permanent tribute outside the ground where he created so much history.

I was in my penultimate year of high school in '64, and had enjoyed all the successes of our era of glory. I'm now well and truly retired. Little did I know .........

Fair point Jordie.

Travis Johnstone joins Chelsea Heights
Deeoldfart replied to fatmanblues's topic in Melbourne Demons
I doubt that mono. There were a few hard and uncompromising leaders during his time in Brisbane, but he still failed to get the best out of himself ..... but who knows, the damage may already have been done by that late stage in his career. -
I agree, BL was strong for his size (especially through the hips), but perhaps his greatest strength was his strength of mind and determination never to be beaten in a contest.
-
Agree. Another good reason for hoping that the 'pies are eliminated this weekend.

We have three grown up kids, all are Dees members and one has converted his partner from NM to Melbourne. My wife was a Dogs member when we were courting, but part of her wedding vow was to support the MFC. She's been one of ours ever since! Currently working on the 4 grand kids ..... a 5yo is wavering between Melbourne and Richmond, but leaning towards Richmond because she likes their song better; a 4yo says she will barrack for the Dees if they change their colours to pink and purple; a 3yo is already a Dee through and through and one is still in nappies but loves her Dees teddy and bib.

A an absolute stalwart in defence for the Dees, who got everything out of himself as a player, and it seems that as a coach he was able to get the very best out of his players. Did a fantastic job with Casey, particularly given that he only coached on a part-time basis. I'm sorry to see him go, but I greatly admire him for his decision and the reasons behind it.
