  1. I will take great pleasure when our own home grown talent along with the so called peripheral players traded in who wanted to play for our colours start flogging these mega clubs with their mega deal players. The satisfaction of winning a premiership when you were there from the start would be immeasurably better than chasing a cheap premiership the easy way when others have done all the hard work. You could see that even though chipper was rejoicing, there was an empty feeling to the medallion hung around his neck.
  2. This^We have cleared 2 players that weren't in our forward plans. I'll back Taylor to find a few 'diamonds in the rough' like Vandenburg, Kent etc.
  3. Is this just a hypothetical? People are losing their [censored] over something that hasn't even happened yet, right?
  4. That's good then. Apparently good mates with Dom Tyson too.
  5. Tomlinson is very underrated. Would be very happy to see him in the red and blue.Would be a mini coup if it did happen as he is relatively entrenched in the GWS fold.
  6. The overs would be that PLUS whatever extra.Plus you conveniently left out the swap of later picks. The trade period is very convoluted now. The swap of later picks could allow them to swap 2 second rounders for pick 8 for example. I'd be happy for them to do almost anything to get Wines. I'd even be fine if it included next years first rounder. But I think they are firm on getting Prestia. Personally if I had to choose it would be Wines but only because of the injury cloud over Prestia other than that I'd have them as evens.
  7. How desperate are port for Dixon? We would have to pay way overs but how about pick 6 + Toumpas and a swap of later picks for Wines? Wines almost untouchable but if we offered Port too much to refuse then it could be like Howe being disgruntled after what happened last year with the GWS offer. Still enabling us to use a late 2nd rounder to pick up Bugg. Or maybe with the Howe 2nd rounder. No future picks though as we need them for Prestia.
  8. I can't believe this thread still has oxygen considering the big fish thing was started by none other than the purple warrior... Soooo having said that..... Is this Prestia pulling in a big one on a Gold Coast beach???
  9. McCartney was there too. He and Goodwin are class acquisitions by the club. No one should blame the younger players at Essendon at the time of the cocktail party either. Poor kids were used as human pincushions. If anybody wants to point their finger it should be firmly aimed at 'he who had a 6 week Bali holiday tan in the middle of a cold Melbourne winter'.
  10. McCartney worked with him too. Both worked with him directly. One as his line coach and the other in a development role. I doubt they would have chased him if they didn't see the upside.
  11. Posted 17 August 2014 - 08:38 AM Jake Melksham should/could be a target. Hard and classy. Just what Roos stated we need. Believe he is disgruntled and looking for a fresh start. In his own words he 'plays best when given a role'. Pick 23ish should get the job done. Roos should get into bombers ear about a trade/swap scenario. (After we know the ASADA washout) JV7 likes this Like This Did I know something 14 months ago..... Lol
  12. So you say you want a revolution. Just as well his surname isn't Rudd, I mean Lenin.
  13. I guess life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.Or in this case 'hatching'......
  14. It's time for the Demons to 'Get Back' to where we once belonged!
  15. It does have a certain Ringo to it indeed!
  16. All opinions point to the fact that the draft is indeed a lottery as some have pointed out. Melksham will thrive in our (new) environment in my opinion. Not many players in the whole league who have some of the skills this kid has. And as far as my 'Collingwood supporting mate said this' and my 'Essendon supporting mate said this......' Really have a good think about that before affixing any relevance at all please.... This reminds me of the Frost trade for a second rounder where people got their knickers in a knot. Obviously there was a method involved and the result was Frost, ANB and Oscar Mc for the one pick. Good deal I reckon. Not to mention extra picks giving us the ability to delist more if they see fit. I think I'll trust our FD on this one.
  17. Col Garland in his latest video on the MFC website mentions that Goodwin is a 'great offensive coach'. That should give you an idea as to the direction we might take under his leadership.
  18. Which is understandable. On TV he seems to be quite an affable character.I used to watch Hawthorn train on Thursday nights at Glenferrie Oval as a teen in the mid 80's. Eade and Wallace were rude, nasty and had no time for the younger fans. Eade wasn't the best but plough was a right [censored]. The exact opposite to the great Robbie Flower.
  19. Only reason I went to Forest Hill shopping was to go to Robbies sports shop. Always had time for any kids wanting to see and speak to him. In fact the only reason I went to the footy in the late 70's to mid 80's was to watch Robbie, he made going in that era bearable with his amazing skills. Absolute legend.
  20. If its the season I'm thinking of he absolutely wiped the floor with Franklin, Reiwoldt etc. The biggest part of that is that its when all of those power forwards were in their prime.
  21. He may not get along that well with the new coach either.......... Rocket's not the most likeable of characters....
  22. All BS aside, IIRC Richmond were chasing Tyson since the day he was drafted. Not sure how concrete this part is but word was that they had been in Tysons ear all along and he wanted to get to Richmond but they couldn't facilitate a trade. That's when the Dee's jumped in. I'd be surprised if he wanted to leave Melbourne now though.
  23. For those too young or anyone unfortunate enough to have not seen the great man in action. But a glimpse of his amazing talent. A true Demon who remained loyal. We miss you dearly.
  24. Turns out it wasn't a real fish after all. We were led down the garden path....It was Colin Sylviafish...
