  1. It's too hard to judge what we will get with Dom Tyson as his time in falafelville was marred by injury. He would have been one of the first 'ins' every week had that not been the case. He is all class and the best part is that nobody has seen his best yet. This tells me that if he can get a good run at it then the sky is the limit. One of the best net trade results in recent history IMO.
  2. Well....... I guess that depends on the net result.... I was referring to football but the result from the 'Gawn Yawn' will be hard to beat!
  3. How good was Sean Wight. Always so dependable in the backline and IMO was highly underrated. Although he played most of his junior footy in Ireland he was actually Scottish, born in Glasgow. Peter Walsh was another highly underrated player too.
  4. I remember watching him training up in Maroochydore this time last year. His voice and encouragement were great then too. Barring injury I think we will see Gawn go to another level. He is only 23/24 this year. He could easily be the first AA ruck within the next 2-3 years.
  5. Someone with good photoshop skills should put the current Demons guernsey on them both then put it up on Ollies Twitter feed. Imagine the PA fans response.....
  6. Spot on. Both Parish and Weitering in particular. The wheel is turning for us. Finally....
  7. Perhaps it's time to crack the single malt a little earlier in the day than usual OD?
  8. Saad got 18 months for drinking a sports drink supplement. They got off light IMO....
  9. What is a metatarsal stress fracture? A metatarsal stress fracture is a condition characterized by an incomplete crack in one of the metatarsal bones. There are five metatarsal bones each of which is located in the forefoot. Cause of a metatarsal stress fracture A stress fracture of the metatarsal typically occurs over time with excessive weight bearing activity such as running, sprinting, jumping or dancing. They often occur following a recent increase in activity or change in training conditions (such as surface, footwear or technique changes etc). Occasionally this condition may occur traumatically such as landing onto a hard surface from a height. Prognosis of a metatarsal stress fracture With appropriate physiotherapy management, most patients with this condition can make a full recovery (return to sport or full activities) in a period of 3 - 9 months. In more severe cases, recovery may take 1 year, or longer, depending on the intervention required and a range of other factors. In rare cases (usually those that have been poorly managed), some patients may experience ongoing symptoms or complications which may require further management.
  10. He came third in the relative vertical jump and fifth in the absolute standing vertical jump at the combine. With the limited run up for rucking contests now those two tests are the ones that count. Also valuable traits for contested marking too.
  11. Spot on.Even with his lack of genuine conditioning he managed to come third in the agility test. The kid is unbelievable in traffic. In fact probably the best I have seen for an 18y/o. Also came equal first (30/30) in the goal kicking test. Can't wait to see what he can produce after a couple of preseasons.
  12. The first 10 picks will be very interesting. This year may throw up more surprises than expected. If you look at Carltons list the midfield is by far the worst in the league. If Bolton follows Clarksons lead then he will trade KPDs in. What if they pinch Schache off Brisbane or go for a mid??? IMO they would have rocks in their heads if they didn't take Weitering. Surely Weitering would be a lock at 1 though. Surely....
  13. As far as Parish is concerned, other than physical attributes (height, weight etc.) I'd like to know what the knocks are on him? If I was going to be real knit picky the only thing I can see is that his ball drop (at times) is a little high. With the step up in speed and intensity at AFL level this may leave a few kicks sprayed. Other than that, all other aspects of his game point to him having elite capabilities at AFL level. I wouldn't be disappointed if we took him at 3.
  14. I completely understand the premise on which your argument is based and in general would have to agree but I would like to point out that in the 2004 draft Clarkson stated the need for quality talls to his recruiting staff. For want of a better term, they definitely 'reached' on Roughhead at pick 2 because they heard the tigers were keen at pick 4. They missed out and took Tambling who they thought was 'next best available' which left the hawks to snap up Franklin at pick 5. Hawks had Franklin as top 3 but 'gambled' on tigers taking someone else at 4 once they 'missed out' on Roughead. So in some cases it's definitely worth the gamble. Especially if there are no real standout mids. We will obviously leave this up to the recruiting staff to define. BTW, the above scenario is fact as it came straight from the horses mouth. Edit: iPhone autocorrect fixes..
  15. The day potential No 1 pick Jacob Weitering doubted himself Interesting article on Weitering. A shame Carltank have pick 1. "Dad probably had the potential to make AFL, but back in those days football was kind of your second job. You'd have to work five full days a week and fit training in around that. Dad didn't really have the drive to do that I guess. He had my mum and work was important to him and 23 years later it still is. I think it was just different times, but both my parents have always encouraged me to do what I love to do. I still remember Dad helping me pick out my team when I was five. He read out the names of all the AFL teams one day and got down to Melbourne Demons and I said 'I like the sound of that, that's my favourite team now'."
  16. Most of the views above make a lot of sense. Just slipping into the draft by age he has a lot of upside. Could end up around the 204cm mark and another 12 months development like Hogan had and he could be a steal. Potential top three pick if he fell into next years draft. Still a risk/reward proposition but as stated above kids like this are a rare commodity and with Jamar and Fitz gone I wouldn't be disappointed if we took this kid at 7. His brother seems a raw prospect too. Maybe a late or rookie pick?
  17. Agreed. I would say there were more ridiculous propositions but in hindsight he was right. It was purely wishful thinking after viewing the highlights package.
  18. Silly suggestion? In hindsight I would have to agree. Although it was more wishful thinking after viewing the highlights package... Apology accepted. I too apologise for the bluntly worded observation. 'Pseudo' nice one. Like your pseudo source from 'out Geelong way'... Sorry, couldn't help myself :-) Arts degree. Me? Not a chance in hell. Edit - edited for accuracy but accepted none the less. If you are accepting your narcissism then your last sentence is probably right on the money. Although we all have at least a slight case of that I suspect... Well played.
  19. It wasn't an insult. It was an educated observation. You see, people with these disorders often don't know or simply refuse to admit they have them. I was just bringing it to your attention so you could work on being a better person E25 :-)
  20. More than likely. The kid will be a gun.
  21. That may be true but unlike you I am not a narcissist with paranoid personality disorder.....
  22. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-11-05/19-days-to-the-draft-meet-gws-academy-star-and-natural-leader-jacob-hopper GWS academy kid that fits our mantra perfectly. Lives in Ballarat but his home address is in the GWS academy zone. With our reasonable relationship with GWS and their need for a tall forward with Boyd gone and McCarthy more than likely leaving next year could we possibly have a gentlemens agreement with GWS that if nobody with earlier picks bid for him and we do, that GWS let him through to us which in turn gives them a chance at a tall getting through to them at 10? Might be a long shot and more than likely won't happen, but weirder things have happened...
