Absolute no brainer. Taller, tougher version of Bontempelli and one of the best contested marks for his age that I have ever seen. The only reason he has flown under the radar is due to injury. A classic Dom Tyson scenario all over again if we can pull this off.

Personally think that Laverde is the classy skilled player Roos is looking for in the draft. i rate him in the top 5.

I see it more as the option of not having to delist him at all if all and sundry deem he is ready to go again :-)

A very short time before Roos took over as head coach he was on record saying 'Melbourne will be lucky to win one game next year'. After a shaky start to the season our trajectory seemed to be on a somewhat upward trend. Winning 4 games well before seasons end. Then the wheel nuts started rattling loose...... We and the game lost Mitch Clark, Chip is looking ever more increasingly like he is gone. We then get to the dreaded point of putting our hands out for a priority pick. Something none of us thought would happen midway through the year. The landscape has changed considerably since our last win. I don't think anybody would disagree that this trade period is the most important in the history of our club. The wheels have well and truly fallen off and I feel (unfortunately) that the old field manual has been dusted off and 'operation goodwood' is underway.

Jake Melksham should/could be a target. Hard and classy. Just what Roos stated we need. Believe he is disgruntled and looking for a fresh start. In his own words he 'plays best when given a role'. Pick 23ish should get the job done. Roos should get into bombers ear about a trade/swap scenario. (After we know the ASADA washout)

I can understand some of the vitriol being vented by some on this site. Some like Ron B who's opinion I respect highly. FWIW I think he's gone. There has been a lot of conjecture about his 'loyal country boy' statement. Here is where I think it's at - Chippa 'is' a loyal country boy and a down to earth honest person. Herein lies the problem. He has handled the situation badly because the system is unfortunately based on lies and deceit. It is much more suited to people like the one who left us and now only plays cameo roles for over a mil a year.....
