When played as a forward he is an opportunist and rarely doesn't score. I think it's his best position providing he gets the defensive aspects of his game right.

Ablett Snr - absolute maestro. Its funny how the media and rumours can influence the public perception of how a person is in their personal life. Yes Ablett Snr has had more than his fair share of controversy and wrongdoings in his life, but a (censored) he is not. In the mid 90's I went for a drive with the girlfriend down the west coast and stopped at the southern cliff car park at Jan Juc. I had a nice Holden Calais with all the sports kit at the time. While we were out admiring the view Ablett Snr pulled up with a friend about 5 spots away (in a nice Ford of course) and a few minutes later he actually approached me and started talking about our cars. This led to a great conversation about anything and everything (no footy) for the next 20 minutes. To this day Ablett Snr is one of the nicest, most genuine, down to earth gentlemen I have ever met.

Clarry would win the brownlow with that rule change. Clarrytime!

If Melbourne want him and he wants to be at Melbourne they should easily be able to work it out. Pay him the amount that suits our salary cap spending and guarantee him X amount of post AFL career employment/security as the balance to cover any rival clubs offer. He's a top bloke by all accounts and someone we'll definitely want around the club once his playing career is finished.

I jump onto the thread to see if there is any news about one of the smallest players in the league and am reading about some of the tallest to play the game!

We played exciting footy under Bailey. In hindsight he also did it with some seriously average players. You may also like to note that he wasn't given enough time to achieve the balance you speak of. Imagine what might have been with some decent recruiting. We also had immature senior players disrespect his authority. The players with their heads screwed on loved him. All this, plus the fact he was barely allowed to make many decisions, with a seriously flawed FD and heirachy at the time. Back on topic, if we keep putting games into the younger recruits at all costs, I think they will tire as the year goes on. I can't see us winning more than 10-11 this year. I hope they have learnt from playing Brayshaw into the ground last year....
