They're a union representing one of their members. This sort of dismissive attitude will not serve us well.

That's neither here nor there.

I'm curious about the bit about him going to the Epworth instead of the Alfred. The implication is that the paramedics weren't given the correct information but at the same time the assessment seems to be that the doctors didn't or couldn't diagnose him correctly at the time. What information did the Paramedics miss that could have gotten him to the Alfred sooner?

The report here is that the AFLPA aren't satisfied with the AFL's assessment.

What a mess.

Does the club need a full and external review?
If the outcome of the review is to overhaul the football dept and surround Goodwin with fresh people and we rock up next year with all the same problems then he will be gone pretty quickly I would think. Only way he goes is if the review turns up some massive red flag that makes his job untenable. I doubt that happens.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
What year are all these kids eligible for the draft?

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Bad attempt at a joke. All Blacks are one of the most successful teams ever and we're well.. Melbourne.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
"The All Blacks don't have a home." Just one of the many similarities the Melbourne Football Club shares with the All Blacks.

I think it's reasonable to say they were a fair way off with that vision then.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
I reckon their skills helped! We're talking about Oliver here.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Why is it all or nothing? Yes you need ball winners but I'm saying the balance has shifted from when they were 90% of why teams won games. For a while footy used to live in contest and repeat stoppages so having those guys was gold, it was a war of attrition. These days teams that can't move the ball properly are being left behind.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Pressure yes, clearance and contested ball not as much. Take the Geelong and Hawks wins. Both Hawthorn and Geelong have pretty average midfields on paper and were up against two of the best midfields in the comp. Both dominated by stiffing their opponents ball movement and getting the ball quickly into their forwardline rather than contest/defence. Same thing happened to Carlton who were pretty even at the contest but got murdered on the outside.

No because turnovers are a thing.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Oliver at his best is exceptional in close at using the ball by hands to get it to the outside. His kicking has never been much chop, pretty much always skies it which helps his disposal efficiency as it's safer but not as effective at generating scores. A common problem across our midfield. Daicos is an elite ball user, goes for dangerous kicks that totally break the game open. My fear with Oliver is that inside mids who can only do it one way are seemingly nowhere near as valuable as they were 5 or 10 years ago. Game is being played more and more on the outside these days. Being able to move the ball becoming more important than being able to win it at the source.

That kind of exemplifies how much of a waste of time disposal efficiency is as a stat.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
I get the feeling Pert is exaggerating a bit there. Why is he guilt tripping a member for running for election and putting the costs to the club on his head?
-
Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Does Pert have a contract or is he ongoing? Re smith, being a footy club president is an unpaid passion project. No where near comparable to a full-time high intensity profession.

I think Casey as a location is also a big issue for players.

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
Hawks are such a great team to watch.

Ken Hinkley - Head of Football
Plus I heard he did a terrible job on Clayton's lawn.
-
Ken Hinkley - Head of Football
I don't mind the idea as Hinkley seems like a great people person. Seems to have good managerial skills. Not sure why some would bring up his finals record. Footy boss is a fairly different role to a coach. Take Balme, who was an average coach but probably the best footy boss the game has seen.

Trade Targets
Even if it didn't, surely if a player gets themselves banned their contract is voided.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Oliver was injured for half the season last year when we hit our best patch of form. He came back for finals and played well but we lost both games anyway. It's a team game. There's more to it than just one player.
