  1. Collingwood's admin were in disarray when they appointed MacCrae. It doesn't really matter. Guerra and Smith were obviously party to the decision.
  2. Yep. The bit where he credited PJ, Mahoney, Viney and no one else was a telling moment. Interesting Roos didn't get a shout out either. Something always been off between the two of them.
  3. What? Why?
  4. Pretty different circumstances I would have thought. Not like premiership coaches don't get sacked all the time.
  5. Thanks Simon. Now we can start moving forward as a club.
  6. I'm not. I'm just giving you my view of one of the requirements I feel is important for those roles. I don't know enough about the background of our current board to have a strong opinion there.
  7. Footy boards are unpaid gigs same as the presidency. I'm suspicious of people who aren't really into footy and aren't Melbourne supporters who go for seats on the board. There are people who would use such positions as networking opportunities. For paid positions like the CEO you expect people to be professional so who they supported before hand doesn't matter.
  8. Why would that even need to be a rule? If Trac says I want to go we can either say yes or no. If we say yes we can tell him to work out his new terms with his next club. If he gets offered a pay cut he doesn't like them he can choose to stay put.
  9. That Stewart incident was nearly uncanny to the Maynard one. Will get weeks now that the rules have changed.
  10. Hundred percent. That we were seen as the next big thing after 21 only to crash out a few years later is a juicy story.
  11. Maybe... Just maybe. The reason we get negative articles written about us in the media is because we have genuine issues.
  12. This is a hilariously tenuous connection to make.
  13. Pretty obvious Pert has been a big source for her. Basically never had a bad word to say about him.
  14. The club has needed some significant change for a while. Last year we swapped out a couple of assistant coaches. Hardly a surprise it didn't do the trick. This year all we've heard about is how an interem CEO and interem president couldn't possibly make any decisions despite the clear need for action after round 5. The longer we wait the harder things get.
  15. I think he's been unlucky not to be selected many times this year. Could probably get more opportunity elsewhere and one last crack at another flag for any team desperate for a key back.
  16. Tmac should go to Adelaide or Bulldogs or something. Still a quality defender.
  17. Sure but once we realised it wasn't our year surely we would expect to see a bit more change at selection, experimentation with positions etc. It's been pretty clear for a while now that those our highly paid stars have been playing beneath themselves. Yet we have continued to play them as our core midfield. Goodwin backs them in every week even though we completely shifted the goalposts for our expectations this year. If this was actually a development year we would be seeing way more variety through the middle. Rivers for example showed genuine promise in the midfield last year but has been stuck at half back all year because Viney, Trac and Oliver have to take up all the midfield minutes. I'd love to see what Windsor or Langford could do with some CBA's.
  18. There's like three weeks left in the season and nothing left to play for. Why are we risking an injured player? Put him in for surgery ffs.
  19. I'd that were true then Green wouldn't have been writing us letters telling us to expect finals at the start of the year.
  20. Ironically he actually was. Laid a good tackle. But once again, the senior players who failed to stand up get a free pass from the coach.
  21. I knew it was all Spargos fault we lost last week.
  22. Ah so that's what happened on Sunday. The front fell off!
  23. Even though the board was at war with Browne at the time they still had the capacity to make a hard call on Buckley and make the key appointment of Macrae, replaced the list manager, Ned Guy with Graham Wright as well. Mark Anderson as CEO made key decisions then rode off into the sunset. Really leaves the current admin no excuse for inaction.
  24. Even if we went back to our old game style (we shouldn't) it relied on Viney, Oliver, Trac and Gawn destroying everyone else at clearance and Lever and May being a defensive brick wall. Without those guys being in AA form it doesn't work. The game changed because the rule changes that came in after 2020 made ball movement significantly easier. Sydney were the first to take the initiative in 2021 and drastically changed how they play, Geelong and Collingwood followed suit the next year and then the rest of the comp caught up. We tried to revert back to our 21-23 gamestyle in the back half of last year and it didn't work at all. I don't think it's possible to compete at the pointy end anymore unless you can move the ball properly and get quality shots at goal. Just look at the best players in the comp right now. They are all guys who can use the footy.
  25. Lever is exactly the kind of player we should be moving on and would be fantastic for North. No way we're going to be moving on one of Goody's favourites though.
