Time to go Goody?
Seems like I have a fan 🥰

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Trac has more currency but I'm not sure what we can realistically get for him in any case. Moving Oliver on is now moot. We would be doing it just to free up half his salary. Does the extra 800k we'd have to play with mean we'd be able to get someone in that can provide more than Oliver? Not sure. The trouble is I'm not sure he and Viney can play in the same team anymore.

Closer to West Coast than Richmond. Richmond got everything out of their list then quickly moved on once the era was officially over. West Coast dragged their feet and tried to recapture lightning in a bottle. Got hurt badly by injuries but dug themselves into a massive hole with bad list management and now look miles off being competitive again. We're not far off ending up in the same position and we don't have the resources West Coast have to endure a rebuild like that. The recruitment of the young guys has been a small and mostly accidental blessing. Need to build around them now.

You play how you train, and judging by the reports we've gotten over the course of this year it seems like training has been a bit of a joke.

He's a better mark than he's shown this year (still a double grabber) and Imo looks too bulky this year as opposed to how he looked the previous two years. Still reckon he'd be a much better player in basically any other team that can actually hit a forward target.

I still have some hope for JVR but I reckon there's a pretty hard ceiling on his game. We can't rely on him to be the main man unfortunately. Not sure where we find a genuine key forward to fill the main role. An indictment on the FD that they haven't been able to find someone to play that role in 4 years.

The way he's traded for picks is just to throw any and all picks after 25 at a team that need some points, often with a future first on top as well. It's hardly genius trading. We're going to need to start finding some guys deeper in the draft over the next few years. Hopefully JT has a few he likes.

Time to go Goody?
More than happy for people to rip into the players, they are soft and lack leadership and composure. But I'm interested in tangible solutions to our current plight. Goodwin has tethered himself to this group. He has backed them in time and time again through selection and positioning. For those who think the players are at fault and need to go do we think Goodwin, or anyone else in the Footy Dept are going to be the ones to facilitate that change? We need a new regime with a fresh vision for the club. The dream of another flag with this group and this footy department has been dead for two years. Keeping Goodwin, Richo, Lamb, etc just guarantees another 12 months of sitting still.

Time to go Goody?
It's always tough to know the full extent of an assistant coaches influence. They are restricted by the system they work within. I do remember when Yze got the job at Richmond Brendan Gale quoted him. Something along the lines of "if you live in the past youl die in the present." That was something that felt pretty resonant with where we were at at the end of 2023. I like what I can see he's doing with Richmond though. I think he'll turn out to be an excellent coach.

I'm not the one calling people imbeciles and bogans mate. Have a great day.

Time to go Goody?
Incredibly, this thread is about the coach. Clearly I've touched a nerve.

Time to go Goody?
Who instructed him to be on the bench? Seriously, who actually told the senior coach to get our of the box? Surely you have a source for this? Happy to wait. If you're not talking about this year than what relevance does it even have to our current issues?

Time to go Goody?
Source? Keep up youself. Good to see you continuing to revert to childish insults whenever you get called out on your bs. Have a good one.

Think this might be it. Dennis Pagan claims he was pushed out by North in 2002. Fox SportsDenis Pagan reveals he was forced out of the club he coac...Kangas forced me out: Pagan

Time to go Goody?
Off the top of my head maybe Robert Walls Malthouse got sacked a couple years BEFORE he won the flag haha. Guys like Roos, Thompson and Hardwick all left of their own accord. Clarkson and Simpson got 6 years each

Time to go Goody?
What are you on about? Goodwin publicly stated he'd be in the box this year. He chose to go back down to the bench during our 0-5 start to the year. Who on earth has the power to 'relegate' the head coach to the bench? What nonsense.

Media Madness
Can't believe anyone is sooking about the media today.

Time to go Goody?
Would love to know our win-loss in close games since the flag. We'd have to be worst in the comp by a long way.

Time to go Goody?
Remember in the preseason when we did those up/down by 8 points with 2 minutes to go exercises and we literally did nothing differently?
-
Time to go Goody?
Exactly right. Nothing happens on a vacuum. A well coached side doesn't lose in the manner that we do so consistently.

Time to start a rebuild?
I think you are going out of your way to miss my point.
-
Time to go Goody?
Lol this is ridiculous now. How much more can we put up with? Get rid of him already and let the club move on.

Time to start a rebuild?
They moved on Treloar in 2020, Grundy in 21, made a prelim in 22 and a flag in 23. So no it didn't hurt them and the cap space opened up allowed them to get guys like Bobby Hill in, for example. They managed themselves very well after a mini disaster, yes. That's the point. They adapted and didn't sit still. Macrae's a great coach, I agree. They knew their old coach was cooked and moved him on. Maybe we should too.
-
Time to start a rebuild?
They obviously didn't expect to move Treloar and Grundy on when they signed them up on those deals, but when they bit the bullet and moved in a different direction they managed their list very well. Keep in mind my initial response was to someone who was citing Collingwood as a reason to back in our coach and highly paid stars. Collingwood moved on key players and their coach and have reaped the rewards in the aftermath.
