Goal kicking has been an issue for ages. It's clearly not something we have prioritised.

I expect one of the reasons the AFL don't rock the boat with things like this is because the salary cap system wouldn't hold up in court if a club were to ever decide to challenge it at that level.

Because there was nothing noteworthy reported. Caro basically said there were a handful of administrative errors that numerous other clubs have been done for in recent times. Did you actually watch the report?

Regardless of whether or not this is true, it was not what is reported which was my point. I simply don't see why some are celebrating this as an exposure of Geelong wrongdoing.

Reading this thread I feel like people didn't actually listen to what was actually reported? Was made pretty clear that the things that came up were pretty minor and any repurcussions Geelong face will be simarly minor. Honestly thought the revelations were incredibly underwhelming. If you want to believe its an AFL cover-up then go for your life but I don't get how people are celebrating this as proof of Geelong's rampant cheating.

The NGA's were seemingly only brought in because clubs were whinging about the Northern academies. I agree with the sentiment but the AFL's solution was to basically compromise the draft even further. It's lead to the mess we're in now where the first round is now blowing out until pick 30 leaving rebuilding clubs like North and West Coast in an even bigger hole. Imo the AFL should ditch the NGA's and put way stronger restrictions on the Northern academies. It is ridiculous that Gold Coast are able to draft 2-3 top twenty quality picks every year through their academy. Right now matching a pick in the draft comes with discounts and encourages teams to trade back their draft position and collect junk picks and futures to improve their position even further. Imo if you are jumping the queue to get an academy or F/S selection you should be made to pay a premium, not a discount.

Only way getting Worpel makes sense is if we're trading Oliver.

Think he looks too bulky at the moment, doesn't seem to be moving well at all, not jumping at the footy and obviously confidence is well down.

I honestly believe that the membership/crowd number drop off is more to do with how hard of a watch this team is than anything else. People can only watch the same slow scrappy gamestyle and ineffective forwardline for so long before they get bored and want to spend their afternoons doing something else. Outside of a couple of games here or there we are a slog to watch even when we're winning. Saints are more entertaining to watch than us.

I'm not really interested in the question of how much credit Goodwin deserves for the flag. The fact is he was the coach when we won it and deserves the respect that affords him. The question is whether he's the person to take us forward. To that question I'm firmly in the 'no' camp. This club feels desperate for the clear air that a new coach can bring.

Pretty much all the same problems present today that were there in the first five games. We got a little sugar hit against the bottom sides but I struggle to see where our next win will be. Nothing has changed.

If this is how we plan to use him then he simply must be traded. Its a monumental waste of cap space.

Plenty in the media have gone quite hard on him as well as the AFL for their horrible response. In fact I would say that's been the prevailing view.

Are you suggesting there is no outrage over what Willie Rioli has done?

If that's the case Jackson's manager should be advising him that he's likely to earn more if he holds off for a couple of years.
