Try again champ, not what I was saying at all.

Time to go Goody?
Buyer beware. Besides he had no real role within our team. We love doing Collingwood a favour though.

Fullarton hasn't played because he sucks.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
The players who have been sent to Casey so far were Harvey Langford after coming on in his first game as a sub and Daniel Turner who came in for one game against North where he wasn't even that bad. I'd be shocked if any of our stalwarts got dropped to Casey. Far more likely to be the likes of Sharp, Howes and Johnson.

Thanks for the update, DemonKolt. little disappointed to hear our midfield will be basically the same this week, possibly with a few cameos from Sparrow and Pickett I suppose. Surely the last chance for Viney/Oliver/Petracca to have an impact before some more serious change happens.

Media just report on what they are told. A juicy meeting between a teams captain and a rival coach is great fodder for them. Probably the Hawks themselves letting this bit of info out. I agree, Eagles will be wanting to keep Allen in the same way North wanted to keep Mckay and we wanted to keep Frawley.

With Hawks on the hunt for Allen is there any chance Mitch Lewis is gettable?

What? Do you actually think Allen is going to move his family to the other side of the country because the media reported on the meeting Sam Mitchell had with him?

Grundy was such a disaster and should have been a massive red flag to the admin that our footy department was out of ideas.

Time to go Goody?
Rivers has been completely stiffed after training all Summer in the midfield is being shifted around into random positions. Our midfield looked way more balanced in that practice match we played against North where Viney and Petracca were out and we had Langford, Rivers, Oliver and Kozzy rotating through the guts. Keep Petracca in the forwardline and either drop Viney or find a new position for him.

I find it odd that Brisbane don't cop the same sort of scrutiny as the cats with their salary cap.

Hawks and Mitchell in particular seem so ahead of the curve on everything. Saw where the game was going so built a gameplan to exploit it. Taking their recruitment methods to a whole new level. Meanwhile we're four years behind with our gameplan and are desperately struggling to keep our own players happy.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Clearly just a discussion piece but a good one to have if our results continue this way. Wouldn't trade all of them but at least one is going to need to learn a new position or be pushed out to make way for the younger brigade.

Media Madness
Lloyd is absolutely right. The whole love theme comes off as completely inauthentic. Goodwin has said his goal for this year is to see the players looking happy and enjoying their football. Do you think they look happy? The supporters sure don't. How about we earn back some respect after being the league's sideshow for 18 months.

Just a young fella adjusting to the speed of the game. He'll be alright.

IKR. I've never seen a player have a fresh-airey when attempting a handball. Wild scenes.

Harvey Langford Rising Star nomination Rd 3
Our young players are all looking great and need to prioritised ahead of our senior players who have dropped the ball.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Everyone getting sucked into the contest is the players being selfish and not trusting their teammates rather than a coaching issue. I'd take two of Viney, Oliver and Petracca out of the midfield and replace them with Langford and one of Kozzy or Windsor. You need outside receivers to get the ball and get a move on, our mix is too samey and totally out of form.

Time to go Goody?
You can't really fully commit to that until you sack the current coach.

Time to go Goody?
Yes a strawman is when you make up a completely different argument to the one you're responding to which you seem intent on doing. Not engaging with this. Have a good night.

Time to go Goody?
Wowee talk about a straw man. I'm not letting them off the hook at all. What I'm saying is there's only so much you can do when the collective group stops functioning as a team. These attitudes have permeated like a virus due to poor leadership at the club. You can't drop everyone to Casey. Besides Goodwin has gone to great lengths to pursue this new mantra of love and positivity against all odds. This had lead to relaxed training standards and flexible schedules. The players have been given this power by the coach. That's on him. But I'm not going to continue engaging with you if you keep putting words in my mouth and insulting my intelligence.

Time to go Goody?
The way in which we are playing like we did in the Neeld era is that we look completely disinterested and unnacountable. Neeld basically never won over the players and so his tenure was never going to lead to any success. To me, Goodwin looks like he's lost the players. I also think that after flip-flopping on the gameplan last year he really can't do that again this year. If this one fails then how could the players ever get behind his message ever again? When a coach is sacked players tend to get a bit more freedom to play their natural games is what I mean. Structures are a lot more loose. Depends on the coach but that's just my observation. But again, interim coaches don't matter at all. Sacking Neeld was the right call as it allowed us to openly pursue Roos. The fact that Craig didn't have any success was irrelevant. Right now our players look like they're not really invested, that's the most damning thing that will soon be an untenable situation if Goodwin can't turn it around. I'm not sure I fully understand your point about the players thinking for themselves. The coaches role is to get all the players on the same page and playing like a team. A good coach will bring the best out of their players talents, I don't think that's happening right now and the players aren't even executing basic fundamentals at the moment.
-
Time to go Goody?
Usually interim coaches release the shackles a bit. It's a strange comparison though. Our list is far far better than it was then. Besides sacking a coach is a decision for the long term, the year is written off but you get clear air to find a replacement.
