  1. We scored our goals against them from some pretty isolated spurts from memory with a great deal of endeavour. Hopefully we go in with that attacking mindset. Howe can play back (on Oxley?) and Harry forward - if he's going to stick it to his former club by running around like a headless chook then let him do it where the only play-on option is kicking it at goals.
  2. Cheers JRS. Buckley wants him to string a month together returning from injury apparently. Do you take this at face value according to what you saw?
  3. Tell us more? Why unhappy? It was mentioned on the weekend that he was recently told to pull his finger out and stop being the class clown so much (however much credit you give the channel 7 commentary) but it seems to have worked. Does he think he'll have a free ride at other clubs? Not criticising - just asking.
  4. This is not about Goodes. It's about middle Australia taking a stand against political correctness being relentlessly foisted upon them when they have personally felt they've done nothing wrong. And if making deeply hurtful noises at an indigenous football player is their form of protest then that is why we have political correctness being foisted upon them.
  5. This is curious: Reid (something something) slotted three (something something) at Victoria Park on Sunday. Coach Nathan Buckley wants the 26-year-old to string together a month of footy, but Reid says he will put his hand up for selection. For the Casey-watchers - who was on Reid on the w/e?
  6. Oh, and is 'about a month' for Frost now considered less than 426?
  7. For anyone ignorant like me: A hip pointer is a contusion on the pelvis caused by a direct blow or a bad fall at an iliac crest and / or hip bone and a bruise of the abdominal muscles (transverse and oblique abdominal muscles). Surrounding structures such as the tensor fasciae latae and the greater trochanter may also be affected. Forget Pedo - is Petracca a smokey to squeeze in a game or two this year to encourage potentially lapsing members? Not saying should, but could?
  8. Demonland: We never take the first option. Demonland: Why do we always handball to players right next to us? Demonland: We never lower our eyes from half-forward. Demonland: That was a fantastic goal from 50.
  9. I'm sure players are told to spread their arms and create an option. We need players who WANT the ball and will create the right option and space to make it happen rather than just doing it to look busy.
  10. Bernie got cussed out for a htb on the w/e for not offloading to Jetta (who was cms away). I'd have to watch it again but I recall thinking when seeing it live that Jetta sort of got in his way and it slowed Bernie's reaction time.
  11. With the pace of the AFL and hierarchies in age and experience etc where a young player might feel obliged to off-load to a senior (especially including the amount of youngsters we have) I'd say genuinely calling for it when out of position deserves greater blame and makes choosing the right option harder to assess. It would be great if we could cultivate the instinct to attack but it can only come when the carrier knows they will likely be protected and can forge a path out of the scrum.
  12. Do they still vote on the Bluey the way they did a while back. Some system from memory whereby every player is given a mark out of ten for each game? I may be imagining this - have been self-medicated since Sunday - but if so Jack could be right up there in contention already.
  13. Sounds like a similar trajectory. Is it the difference in coaching personnel or the current AFL team-building blueprint?
  14. Don't respond to the thread, don't respond to the thread, don't respond to the thread . . . dammit.
  15. Don't stand flat-footed next to the ball carrier. And especially don't call for it if you're flat-footed and under imminent pressure. Consider shepherding instead.
  16. He's kept some known accumulators down to very low possession counts. I wonder if they are season lows in most instances.
  17. And revolving Dawes out would be a refreshing notion.
  18. Jamar for Dawes. As argued before. Harmes looks likely as a player to me. Shame for him he isn't in another team.
  19. Sure. Or those from our 2018 list. Whatever tickles your fancy so long as we can keep it good clean fun.
  20. The year 2018: The AFL in its infinite wisdom has decided to allow clubs to clone their lists in an effort to insure its most marketable commodities against the scourge of injury. But wily coach Alistair Clarkson has just exploited a regulatory loophole to field Clone Roughhead next to his biological counterpart at CHF. Name your starting MFC line-up if we had two of each player available on the list.
  21. I think the mids kids did try hard today. That's probably who Roosy was referring to. The personnel he brought in rather than those he was lumped with.
  22. After 8 years of absolute shite I'm not sure why it was this specific game that broke the proverbial camel's but it did. I still think the future looks bright and I'm not normally overtly critical of players but I'm sick of [censored]-footing around. If the apologists for the likes of our seniors with some inexplicable but potentially minute currency such as Dawes, Garland, Grimes and Watts want to continue making a case for their value going forward then good luck to you and god save the MFC.
  23. 5. Dawes. For getting us off to a great start with the clever tactic of putting his shoes on back-to-front. 4. Watts. Claiming a 2-meter mark - all class today. Almost Pendles-like with the time and space he thinks he has. 3. Roos. Garland on Nick a curve-ball they surely weren’t expecting. 2. Lamumba. Never afraid to play on and take the first option whatever that may be. 1. Tyson. Seamlessly adapting to the Melbourne blue-print after a troubled first year.
  24. Scratching my head over the love for Watts.
  25. Shovel-work when too warm can give rise to a nasty case of ballaratinal chancroids.
