Was similar last year from memory. Strange. Would have guessed it was teams not committing as much in defence against us but it doesn't add up with the company we do and don't keep on that list.

Hogan went on a massive chase up the middle against Collingwood (can't remember who) and I recall thinking, ffs, can someone else step in and save the boy's legs. I think he shows pressure intent quite often but is a tad lumbering and not so flexible off the mark. Anyone else see that gait of his after the game? Looked like he had rickets.
-
It's exactly that sort of attitude that's wrong with the club.
-
I asked a professional once and was told it was due to some special hyper-extension of the leg in the act of goal-kicking. I asked again and was met with a shrug.

I'll save you some time pitmaster and put my hand up as a Grimes detractor. To say anyone who criticises Jack is a hater is just rhetoric. I also thought he had a very decent game on the weekend. But that's the problem. His best isn't quite good enough. Showed some great defensive efforts and then constantly too slow to react.

Out of interest I wonder if many people that voted were at the game (there weren't many Melbourne supporters there!). I say that because only a few people have given Dunn votes, yet I thought he was sensational in the way he controlled the backline. He was an absolute beast today - always in the right spot, getting a hand in the way to thwart Collingwood, calm and composed under pressure and directing others around him. I know he wasn't up against much but to me he was really significant in us holding Collingwood to 7 goals and ultimately winning the game. A lot of what he did may not have been as obvious on TV as it was at the ground. But from my perspective at the ground today, he was clearly in our best six. Dunn had about 6 votes from 34 castings till you mentioned this and then 19 from 8.

Needs it's own thread. I've been supersticiously wearing this stupid red and blue striped shirt every weekend because it was obviously the only reason we beat GC in the first round.

I don't get this idea of Grimes, Dawes and Garland being works in progress. In their mid-20s I'm pretty sure they all played at their absolute best yesterday and it's not quite good enough for modern football or going to help push the Demons forward (targeting them specifically because they probably have some residual trade value). Pedo hurts my argument somewhat.

Enthusiastic response to the new thread. I'll admit to not knowing a great deal about potential draftees because I suspect that we'll trade out of the early draft entirely this year and haven't as such been paying a great deal of attention. We have 2x former no. 2 draftees coming online next year with a wealth of youngsters who have showed something recently. I'm not normally an advocate of skipping the draft for the short-term future but if any team were to do it I'd suggest we're in the right position to skip a year at the draft.

That's a nice sentiment but Fitzy in for Grimes couldn't hurt if Gawn tires and we a few minutes of coverage. I still remember that fade-out against Minson last year that nearly cost us.

I had gone cold on my hopes of Motlop for salary cap concerns. But I feel a cheap Bennel may be quickly slipping away. Any other speedsters with goal sense on the radar? (Not Yarran). Is L.Jetta on the move and could possibly be poached from his suitors in the West - not the first time we've managed such?
-
Eddie doing a Rex Hunt impression when Langdon? kicked in straight to Jetta. 'yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but'. Yes eddie, yibbada-yibbada - it's all over.

Titus O'Reilly and Supermercado. The only way a likely loss would be tolerable.

Everyhing is a disgrace or an outrage nowadays. And that's the just the right wing's opinion.

I don't think the booing of H is entirely unrelated to the Goodes situation. People have a particular distaste for Lamumba which has quitened down this season as he has. The two share a similarity - and no, it's not the colour of their skin. It's their willingness to confront discimination and talk about it publicly which makes people uncomfortable and angry. People aren't booing the race, but them talking talking about race. Which is about race.
-
Don't know why people are complaining. This is the best replay I've ever watched. And we get to listen to Eddie whine for the entire week.
-
But Goodie when asked about Prestia's links to the Demons also said 'that's the first I've heard of it' with a pretty straight face.
-
It hurts because it's true.

and inb4 his work off the ball. Someone else can do that. We need another KPF. Not only does Dawes drop it he somehow does it so we lose the contests entirely and then interferes with our crumbers in his second ' efforts'.
-
Go back to the game and put a little flag in your potato.
-
Can't be arsed looking it it up. But time to self-fess whoever it was that said specifically we don't give enough at half time . . .
-
The discussion of Dawes is starting to spill over into other threads like a dropped mark over the boundary line. Joke. But let's stop discussing Chris as to structure, yards and stats (e.g. 6 goals for the season). Let's all watch the replay of the last game and we can pin-point the specific contests we'd like to talk about. Easy. State your time-code and then chat away. Mark, no mark, good lead, second effort - no need for speculation, just use the footage to back your argument.
-
Hate to say it but they also gave us a leg-up at the selection table. Whether they underestimated us or just wanted to make a point regardless . . . we benefited.
-
Last two weeks? I assume you mean Brisbane and this week? I got hammered for quoting stats to criticise a player recently so it's hard then to argue against stats. But comparing his marks per game against second tier forwards is redundant to me when he's basically playing as a winger atm. And it's not the marks he takes that are at issue - it's the marks he drops. I'm late to the anti-Chris brigade and I'm not usually overtly critical. But when people use the word liability I finally understand it. It would be better if a true winger was playing the link-up player and we had another genuine key-position forward in his place.

I would like to think that Jack Viney will be a contender. Absolutely fantastic year - deserves some club recognition.
