Watching overseas jane? I thought Abbott put an end to that on behalf of Rupert?
-
Frost toe injury complete bs.Sam has been squirreled away to a secret second-ruck bunker so the Russian doesn't catch on.
-
So Nathan shaved his head to look like Gablett for nothing? Time to grow a Fyfe-fro.
-
Can you furnish us with your sums HH?
-
I need to see it again but it looked as if he had connected with marley today he might be having a couple week spell.
-
Watch Dawes closely. There was some perfect footage last week - he takes his eyes off the ball at the point of contact. Other times he fakes an effort. He has the marking yips. No confidence. Even his contested marks today from memory were chest marks - requiring pin-perfect delivery or a bit of luck.
-
We talk about DE but how about marking efficiency? He fronted up but the number of contested marks he drops when he has the ball in a favourable position are astonishing. And I noticed on at least four occasions today - just from television footage - where his teammates had lost confidence in him and not honoured a lead and passed it to him or waited until no other option presented.

To mark a ball. To AFL standard at least. Or maybe kick a few goals perhaps.

Not sure we can claim the win out of the middle on this one. Still got slammed in the clearances and don't think any of our mids besides Bernie got many more than 20 touches. They did well to tough it out though. If stats were given for burrowing in and just getting hands on the ball Viney would be right up there.

Kudos to JW for that interview.

HS must think we have a wealth of capable midfielders to relegate Bernie to third. Hogan helped but . . .
-
He competes. He wins or splits most of those contests. He hustles, has decent disposal, and while he doesn't get a stack of it just yet I think we have a player on our hands. Big effort in the last quarter to help get us over the line.

Tyson got caught htb plenty last year as well.
-
Absolutely loved it it. And then felt sad he wasn't grabbing his jumper and showing it to the world.
-
On that note, I've thought Howe has been solid and invested the past few weeks with his move down back. A lot of upside.
-
I've eaten some words re. Watts. Won't do so re. Dawes, Grimes and Garland. They gave it their all - and that's a real concern.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Skuit replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've had some sneaky confidence going into our wins big and small this year. Not next week. For me, the Roos are our true bogey team. -
Every thread needs an iconaclast. I thought Watts had been poor the past few weeks. Under the radar for a couple and then terribly slow against the Saints when he finally got a fair chunk of it. And in general, I've never subscribed to those talking up his elite kicking, most of it slow, undamaging chip passes over short distances and not actually that stand-out skills-wise anyway with plenty of turnovers over the course . . . Watts was great today. Maturity, confidence and composure. I think his best game in my mind. I used to worry that he wasn't being played in a single position to learn, develop and impose himself. I'm happy now that we may have a genuine allrounder or in AFL parlance, utility. Keep it up Jack.

Viney, Vince & Vanders. Must be something about that V that inspires man-love.
-
You're right Redleg. I'm pretty wasted right now.
-
A new tactic. Eshew potential contested clearances in the middle. Lock it in down forward.

I thought the boo-brigade would have run out of breath defending their position by now. What, with all that incessant booing they have to partake in directed at one particular individual to argue a complex political point about rights to free 'speech'?
-
Not only that - I was at the 2001 Footy Park comeback v the Camry Crows but had to bail early.
-
I haven't seen a live Dees victory since the 90s.

Clearly the Wobbles aren't looking to exploit whatever got them over the line against us last.
