But on banana-related issues I currently have hundreds of them. They all sprouted at the same time and I'm not sure what to do with such a cache (though I can definitively state that you should never wipe up the sap with a sponge). There's only so many smoothies a man can take. Contrary to common conceptions, banana trees are actually non-regenerating plants. I'm going to send off the scraps to the elephant up the road. The question is though, should I replant?

*K-nob. The filter should be lifted for at least this thread. Enter at you own sensibilities.

Boycott is a bit of a [censored]. 'Well, I think the Australians will have to bat again if they don't make 'em follow on'

Taking a leaf from Terminator Genysis and disregarding any regard for teleological consistency, who of our current team would fit into a Dawks line-up?
-
Hide Hunt under one of Hogan's biceps and we may get away with at least one other.

Time for us to move to the NT full-time and sell ten of our matches to Victoria.

Spare a thought for Brisbane fans? No.

The new generation in a time of an increasingly homogenised culture are desperate to carve out a niche as a point of identity difference and this is how we should market the club as fashionable: Melbourne Demons - Be Original.

Well we'll just have to play five solid quarters then.

Haha. That fleetingly crossed my mind earlier in the thread. But there's nothing to suggest they're alike except for leg-speed and the fact that that drew a mental comparison is quite telling as to our deficiencies in this regard. For starters, young Hunt appears to be a much harder worker than Sam ever was.

Did anyone catch the Cats game? Saw Motlop's stats and was just curious as to opinions on actual impact before I wandered over to the trades thread and wondered aloud if we could squeeze both Prestia and Mots in with our current trade currency/cap . . .

Last week's post-match thread looks like it might outlast this week's pre-match thread. If only the Dees had this sort of stamina to run it out till the bitter end.

If Mark walks at season's end without a ready replacement and Max was to do another knee we could be in for some strife.
-
I thought this was going to be a thread about where we'd travel back in time to to address some of our current woes. The day of Liam's wrist injury would certainly be one option.

I can't remember a season with such an even spread but so few genuine challengers. No-one looks remotely likely outside of the top four and even then . . .

Withdrawn - if as you've more recently suggested the post was specific to this week's game.

For a long time being internet ignorant (and possibly dyslexic) I assumed NQR to mean 'not required' rather than Not Quite Right. None of our player are quite right. Skilled without any grunt or aggressive inside while lacking requisite foot-skills. Fantastic contested marks that can't kick straight or frustratingly the exact f'n opposite. Not Quite Right is a harsh determination for a few on your list compared to some others. Max is a potentially star ruckman slowly working on his previous deficiencies and Tmac was not last season but fairly recently in top form. Stretch, ANB and Harmes have barely played a handful of matches between them while Watts and Lamumba will never be quite right.

Missing quote for context.

Adelaide. Just a couple months back. There were some fines to prove it.

Or get the best out of both? I casually floated the idea of Jamar as a second ruck recently in a roundabout manner and after meeting some strong opposition my position has suddenly become further entrenched in true Demonland fashion. My newly stubborn standpoint as follows: Good teams manage to successfully transition their long-service rucks into secondary roles over time. Jamar has not once in the past decade been given the opportunity to play just the minor portion of a game in the center. He's statistically a better goal-kicker and contested mark inside 50 from less opportunity on average than Spencer and offers greater variety and experience in the ruck as a back-up to Gawn. He picked up an extraordinary 25 possessions for a ruckman on a stupidly wet day at Casey on the weekend and should be treated like anyone else on the list as to form-lines displayed in the seconds. Above all, our ruck reserves aren't yet ready and our depth in the department going forward is a concern without a ready replacement or the Russian on board for next year (subject to poaching if entirely starved of opportunities). I'm still anticipating (hoping?) Dawes as a late withdrawal with Mark to come in. # And I expect full-well he'll entirely [censored] it up if actually given the chance.

Out for the season. While we have a great injury list it's frustrating because it feels those that those who are out could solve some constant selection issues.
-
We'll run out of new ideas sooner or later.

Can you define can kick goals? And can mark, is that can mark inside 50 as well?

Would like to see some ruck-coverage and hardened-mids come in to counter the Bears. But after two consecutive weeks lobbying for Fitzy’s inclusion, a surprising about-face from me for this weekend. Jamar in for Dawes up forward as a stay at home and second-ruck chop out for Gawn. I feel he could offer the same if not more than Dawes currently is (five goals and five marks inside 50 for the season along with 14 tackles), and provides a certain variation in the second-ruck role over Spencer (as Brisbane has with their pair) . Michie and Newton in for the kids (Stretch & Harmes) with ANB sliding to the vest for mid coverage or a potential small-forward swap-out option for JKH. My only concern is the potentially heavy legs from the Casey game. Tyson to line up at the half-forward flank to rediscover his early longer distance goal-kicking form from last season (though he’s also been proving a bit of a sneak of late) and not have to worry too much about disposal efficiency or fighting his way out of packs. FF Garlett Jamar JKH HF Howe Hogan Tyson C Watts Jones Brayshaw RR Viney Gawn Vince HB Lamumba TMac V’Burg FB Jetta Dunn Garland INT Cross Michie Newton Sub ANB IN: Michie Newton Jamar OUT: Harmes Stretch Dawes

Draftees? When is a player no longer a draftee or are they always so if not traded in?
