Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury
GawnWithTheWind replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Posterior can walk off too, plus a bunch of other jarring injuries, lets not throw around ACL just yet. -
FB: Jetta - Dunn - Garland HB: Prince - McDonald - Grimes C: Vince - N.Jones - Watts HF: Howe - Pedersen - Garlett FF: Kent - Hogan - Jamar R: Gawn - Tyson - Cross I: Viney - JKH - M.Jones S: Brayshaw E: Frost - Salem - Toump I'd say everyone in bold, if fit, will play round 1 without any doubt. The unbolded should play, but may miss out depending on the rest of the preseason.

Where do we finish on the ladder next year?

After draft day.... FB: Frost - Dunn - Jetta HB: Garland - T-Mac - Prince C: Vince - Tyson - Watts HF: Howe - Pedo - Kent FF: Garlett - Jamar - Hogan R: Gawn - Jones - Cross I: M.Jones - Viney - Grimes S: Petrecca E: JKH - Salem - Toumpas If its wet, take Gawn out and play Pedo as the second ruckman. JKH would come in for a high forward role. The exciting thing is I wanted to squeeze about 5 players into that side, and couldn't. Can't remember the last time that has happened. - Pedo is an endurance player who can crash packs and mark. He is needed at the moment. Line up Bennell at the bounce and take him clean out for the game. Let the league know we aren't stuffing around anymore. If he gets suspended, Dawes can come in - Grimes to play a tagging role, his skills aren't up to it to be a good midfielder on his own. He needs to use his tank and smarts to shut down their best player. - Prince plays half back for a bit of leadership, however besides Frost, the backline is quite mature and capable. - Garlett and Kent to swap who plays high and who plays deep, both are capable for either position. - Jamar to own the 25 meters around from goal, not many better marks in our team than the russian. - Hogan is roammmmmmmmmm. He won't take a backward step.

Cue the 'Petrecca isn't smiling'... hes off!

M.Jones 5th in the bnf.. another year in the system and you have him out? Pedersen out too? One of the best marking forwards we have?

Demonlanders abroad.. Do we know where we can watch the draft online? Is fox footy the only coverage for the night? Anyone else have any tips or radio suggestions? Cheers! AOD

(How could I miss out on Tyson!) After seeing a few trainings and reports, early prediction for round 1 team: Jetta - Frost - Dunn Lumumba - McDonald - Garland Watts - N.Jones - Vince Howe - Pedersen - JKH Garlett - Jamar - Hogan Gawn - Viney - Cross Kent - Grimes - Tyson M.Jones - Dawes Suspended If we can get the ball into the hands of that center line, our fwds will have some pretty nice delivery. Throw JKH and Kent into a high half forward, and our three/four talls should be pretty happy with the supply. Not sure where Grimes fits at the moment, maybe into a midfield rotation. Maybe he could be our new tagger. Excited to see Kent+Garlett+JKH for the next few years.

As demonlanders, only a very select few know something about who we are looking at, and even fewer in this world know who is a lock for 2 and 3, the rest is just speculation off what the MFC/PR/JM release. One thing we do know is PR isn't waiting for 3 years to get results, his main priority will be to pick the best available who can make an impact in the next 6-24 months. Of course, talent is the next, but we can be sure he wants a kid who can push for selection early next year. To do this, they need maturity, weight and the size to do so. So, top 5/6? Petracca = looks like he will make an impact early in the year Brayshaw = looks like he will make an impact straight away McCartin = some impact this year, but needs a few seasons for proper FF impact Lever = knee reco, light, probably needs a few seasons for proper impact Wright = already heavy enough, but ruckman take time Laverde = probably needs 2 preseasons in the gym before making an impact Going on body size and maturity alone, Petracca + Brayshaw + McCartin. If all 3 are available, Petracca and Brayshaw

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
GawnWithTheWind replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
I never understood why Carlton wanted to delist him, I think MM is getting craz(ier) in his old age. Garlett would be an excellent pick up for our fwd line. HF: Howe - Dawes - Garlett FF: Kent - Hogan - Pedersen That could start to cause some headaches. Kent and Garlett have the footskills and pace to really stretch some defences, and also put on a fair bit of pressure on the ball coming back out. I am all for it. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
GawnWithTheWind replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is an interesting one at least. It seems like all the rumors and speculation is directed towards MC doing something irresponsible, causing instability in his life and provoking a more serious case of depression that could not be managed whilst playing. But who knows, maybe it is all speculation. MFC don't seem to be too upset with him leaving, every press conference and comment is painted with a very carefree attitude towards his departure. This further points towards an irresponsible act in his life (that may include something or someone at the FC) and the MFC wanting him out. Again, there are no facts to support this yet. MFC have respected him, taken care of him (and his family), and more importantly, kept their mouth shut. If MC does not come out after the deal has been done and explains why he couldnt stay at the MFC, then we have a reason to be outraged and give him a '$cully like' reception everytime we see him. Until then, bite your tongue 'landers, show some respect to a once much loved demon, wait a few weeks, then unleash hell on a potentially very cowardly man. -
Hey Dees, Currently overseas and was wondering if anyone knew of any good sites to stream the grand final tomorrow? Telstra are charging $20 to watch it, rather not feed them that if possible. Thanks in advance!

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY
GawnWithTheWind replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Obviously, it would be great if JF stayed. He is a 25yr old AA defender, they are hard to find. However, our team dynamic has changed over the past 9 months. We are no longer reliant on one player, if JF leaves, someone else needs to step up. Clark leaving and Pedersen stepping up is the prime example of this. Good teams retain players, but also, if they lose them, they move on quickly and find someone better. Georgiou is a good gap filler for a while, can do a shut down role if needed, and then we look to develop another KB alongside Tommy and Garlo. Good teams are made up of 30 good players, not just a handful, and we are heading in the right direction. -

Changes for next week...
GawnWithTheWind replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tommy Mac can't kick. No use him working hard up the wings and then turning it over on the HFF. He is better to run with Cameron, who otherwise could have an absolute day out. FB: Garland - Frawley - Pederson HB: Grimes - McDonald - Terlich C: Vince - N.Jones - Watts HF: Byrnes - Fitz - Blease FF: JKH - Dunn - Howe R: Spencer - Tyson - Cross I: Viney - M.Jones - Georgiou S: Toumpas Outs: Michie (have a run to get some touch), Bail, Trengove Ins: Viney, Garland, Blease -
Does Gawn give us more than a Pedo will? In the intraclub, Gawn was bringing down some pretty big marks, and could could allow Fitzy to play permanent forward for the game. We will just need 2 crumbers keeping the ball inside 50.
-
So are we expecting something along the lines of: FB: Dunn - Frawley - Terlich HB: Grimes - McDonald - M.Jones C: Vince - N.Jones - Watts HF: JKH - Fitz - Howe FF: Byrnes - Pedo - Blease R: Spencer - Cross - Tyson I: Michie - Trengove - Toumpas S: Bail

Intraclub Practice Match - Thursday 20th February, 2014
GawnWithTheWind replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
We should be expecting Garland in 3 weeks? Which gives him 1 week to get ready for round 1, so essentially round 2? I am not even going to comment on Clark as we will all get sidetracked about his photography skills. -
Intraclub Practice Match - Thursday 20th February, 2014
GawnWithTheWind replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nine players are set to feature in Thursday's intraclub match. Chris Dawes, Jesse Hogan, Jack Fitzpatrick, Mark Jamar, Max Gawn, Jack Watts, Jack Viney, Dean Kent and Shannon Byrnes will be returning for Thursday's game, which will have complete scores and goalkickers when I update after the game. This means pretty much everyone has been involved over the past week besides Riley, Salem, Hunt, Clark and Garland correct? -
