Due to the forward press, they do lose their direct opponent, correct. However, they still have a direct opponent who, when possible, they will go to. For example, stoppages, center bounces, when they have time to re-adjust matchups. Your kidding yourself if you think Jetta and Dunn stand next to each other, Jets on Cloke and Dunn on Fas, and say "yeh keep it like this" Hence putting the match ups in.

If we beat North I will ....
GawnWithTheWind replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are 0% chance. They will win by 40 points. -
In: Dunn - ANB Out: Oliver (cant get away with oly 50% game time, it affects others too much) - Harmes (either him or kent needs to go, and kent is only there on potential) FB: Jetta - Dunn - Garland HB: Vince - TMac - Salem C: ANB - N.Jones - M.Jones HF: Kent - Hogan - Watts F: Garlett - Pedo - Kennedy R: Gawn - Viney - Tyson I: Vanders - Brayshaw - Lumumba - Bugg Matchups: Dunn - Petrie McDonald - Brown Garland - Waite (if this is't working, swap with TMac) Jetta - Thomas

How many will Hogan get on Saturday?
GawnWithTheWind replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only thing that will stop hogan from becoming great, is hogan. Sook, spoilt, and believes his own hype. Have a sook to the umpires on the occasion if you must, just never whilst the ball is still in play. When you do that, its 17 vs 18. -
It's only Tuesday and I'm so nervous... it would just be so good to be 1-0 following on from the good NAB form. ❤️

The combined Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia Thread
GawnWithTheWind replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
How many games has Dion played in the last 2 seasons? Very talented, but spending a heap of cash on someone to sit in the stands (watch dawes come into this thread now) isn't ideal. -

Geez classic demonland.. so much negativity! Positives: - Jones and Vince blew out the cobwebs (much needed for Jones to get his peripheral vision back) - Oliver had a partly coming out game. Showed heaps and has earnt a round 1 spot. - Watts learnt even if the games doesn't start well, it can turn very quickly, all you have to do is keep trying. - No injuries - Learning how to win, regardless of the opponent (so underrated) Negatives: - It was windy and we arent great by foot in the wind. - Tom Mac and Kennedy arent great by foot in the wind. - That Fox footy team should never been assembled together again. Johnson and Shaw are just generally a horrible listening experience.

Drug cheats. Round 2. They are bringing back past players and doing a ´walk from fed square´ to show support for the club. We would normally buckle under that pressure. If we do buckle, we will be laughed at again, and will lose a heap of positive momentum. Fingers crossed we have improved our mental resolve too.
-
If we win 10 or more, I think he would more likely stay. If we win less than 7, he will walk back to WA. Simple as that. I am so sick of good players wanting out, and so jealous of Geelong and Hawthorn.

Good on him for getting another go somewhere else. At the end of the day, Jimmy is scared of the contest, and isn't agile/evasive enough to avoid it. As long as the AFL is a tough sport, Jimmy will struggle to succeed. Melbourne have built a team of warriors (Viney, Jones, Brayshaw, VDB, Oliver, Hogan, Kent, McDonald, Gawn, Trac,Trengove, Frost, Harmes, Jetta, to name a few), and Jimmy didn't fit. Seems like a nice fella, so hopefully he does okay.

I would. Frost is very agile and mobile, and puts on better pressure than our other smaller options. On a dry April day, 3 marking forwards create headaches and spreads the defence off Hogan.

When is our intra-club? Does anyone have the details? -
FB: Garland - Dunn - Jetta HB: Salem - McDonald - Wagner C: Vince - N.Jones - Brayshaw HF: Kent - Hogan - Vanders FF: Frost - Pedo - Garlett R: Gawn - Tyson - Viney I: Watts - Stretch - Grimes - Harmes E: Bugg - Hulett - Spencer -------------------------------------- Wagner to be promoted for Jake the snake. Petracca - Probably in Casey for a run Trengove - Casey for a few -------------------------------------- Matchups: Jetta - Stevie J (show stevie he should have retired last year) McDonald - Cameron (if he can keep him under 3 goals, job done) Dunn - Patton/Stewart (may be undersized with Patton, but I back him to really hurt on the rebound) Viney - Ward (Head to head with one of the competitions better inside players, I back Viney in!) Vanders/Harmes - Shaw (key to shutting down their drive from the back 50)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
GawnWithTheWind replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
What? If Kennedy turns out to be the next Ablett, we should build a gold plated statue for Mahoney and Roos outside gate 2. -
Surely he is worth more than average AFL wage... I'd say we offered 350x3
-
He is RFA. Match the offer, no PSD for him, tell him he is traded to GC unless pies give us what we want. End of story.

I for one, welcome the milkshake. Let's hope he adds some mongrel and aggression to the half back line. -
I think we will regret losing him.
