  1. Best option available in terms of big Fwd. must have a crack at him, but i still think he will end up in Perth. At least we are flexing muscle..
  2. The Whole Old Boys Club thing is the biggest Myth in Football. So many clubshave so called "Old Boys" running the place with Key people who have played for the club intricate to the way its run and coached. Carlton - kernahan / Ratten / Williams / Bradley all heavily involved in club workings for example. They atre their because they know the club and are good at what they do.
  3. Setanta is on his way, who will be his helpers?
  4. Absolute Nonsense. Players get injured all the time, training, pre season trial games, intra club matches, NAB cup. they drive cars to, maybe we should only get them to drive in footy season..
  5. With the big man from the Pies now re-signed with the Pies, who is a big power fwd that every person in the world says we need?
  6. Didnt realise you were the spokesperson for every AFL player.. while i agree its not a premiership medal or even in the same ball park, still a thrill and i would jump at the chance to play, like most of the players do.
  7. I think the biggest thing garry & Co have done is win some respect back already. It has been a long time since we beat any club to the punch. The Club is serious and has some arraogance about it. Its been a very selfless role that Garry has thrown himself into and some people should really eat some humble pie. His effort has been fantastic. untited a club, and done it the right way. Love him.
  8. No its just You. Matt is a great Journo, brilliant melbourne man and ripping bloke. His red carpet stuff was not meant to be anything other than fun.. it was not the Oscars. Lighten up. He is anything but Amatuer.
  9. cant wait to see "Misson in action"... sorry couldnt resist. great signing
  10. i have resisted all year about posting on teh Scully Saga, but it has eventually worn me down and i cant not say anything anymore.. Not that any of this will be any different to what others have siad.. i beleived Tom in saying that he wont make a decision until after the season, its now after the season and a decision is imminent.. Good Bye Tom.. good luck, i hate that you dont want to stay at the MFC, the leaving bit hurts, but i hate and it makes me feel sick that you dont want to STAY with the demons and hope you are prepared for a real tough year next year... What i want to know is what compensation we will get now. Is 2 picks in first round a real possibility? Tough year, but we will be ok..
  11. Lyon is not the messiah either, he is an ex-footballer media type who has had ample opportunity to show his commitment to the club in a meaningful capacity but has continuously failed to do so. In any case, his is no better qualified to manage our club than Sam Newman. Unbeleivable. Your ignorance is alarming. I suppose you were the type of bagging him when he was suffering from a back injury and not playing. That actually makes me feel sick that you are so negative towards a guy who has done more for the club that most and you could ever do.
  12. I loved Jnr and i wish it had been a situation that could have been handled better by the club, but it really is time everyone moved on, and if the players are still not dealing with it then they need a good kick up the ar$e and a reality check!
  13. As sad as it makes me, Schwabby is gone and this will happen sooner rather than later, possibly in the coming days. The rumblings at board level have been going on for a while. Nail. Coffin. for at least 2 of the high profile people in the club.
  14. Cant understand why people would be calling for LJ to be dropped. His output is down, but he is kicking goals and takes a good defender to mind him every week.
  15. Family first, footy second always.. Tough though to hear.
  16. The backline is an option but i beleive its a soft option. Davey needs to be in the fwd line. The days of Aaron breaking the lines and gaining meters is gone. He would be better served fwd of the centre where his class can end in a score or score involvement. Tappy to should be up fwd. Grimes in the middle. And god we miss Jordie mckenzie for grunt work.
  17. I was there, they looked sharp! Worked alot on a quick switch in back half... Grimes the general / qb. Best thing I saw that no club will ever match is that our president was there, looking good!
  18. Dont see anything wrong with it really. As if what Robbo says will rock the club...
  19. 40 might be unrealistic, your right mate, but 30-40 is achievable. average 1.5 per game, play 18-22 games, which a small fwd should do at a minimum.
  20. i think he can lay claim to "one of the great rebuilds of all time" when he wins the ultimate prize!!l
  21. I think the fact that we are now in a reasonable position financially lets us explore some options. To suggest we stick with a Coach because we could save cash is a terrible suggestion. Bailey does well this year then contract gets extension, we tread water or go backwards, then go after someone who is a great option, finances aside. ** again, i started this thread and i am a Bailey fan, but i am also a realist. Only the best for this club moving fwd, thats all i want.
  22. Like everyone i am now getting really excited about the season proper. The Demons for the first time in a while have a real opportunity to embark on some exciting years, i still think we might be a year ahead of a real finals threat ( the 8 would be great, but 10 wins is my pass mark). To get some footy chat going i am interested in everyones opinion on who is facing a crunch year. There are several, but identify one/two and give a reason. here is mine Maric - obvious improvement in fitness and body maintenance has seen him have a couple good games. the kid came with a goal sense reputation and great finishing skills. Its time for him to cement a spot and give us 40 goals this year. He should start the year in front of Austin and hopefully takes the opportunity to become a regular. On the flip side, crunch year fro Aussue. circumstances far greater than football have put him behind the 8 ball this year, and while i have faith in his ability, i think he now starts the year as a player under the pump and facing competition for the small fwd role. Its great healthy competition, but one of these guys have to become a constant in the team, its time to settle our fwd line and at this stage, Maric has his nose in front. Interested on your thoughts and your "Crunch year" demons for season 2011.
  23. Just asking the question mate? for what its worth, im a dean Bailey fan, but would be derelict if we didnt explore.
  24. Hearing in a few different places that Malthouse is not keen on carlton at all. Does anyone dare entertain the thought that he might be on our radar come seasons end?
  25. Or he may just be giving an opinion which is trong and has merit, which it seems some here dont like to hear that as a team with much hype sorrounding us we still clearly have deficiencies and they need to be rectified quickly. Alot of Healy bashing here, perhaps he has alot to say when it comes to Melbourne because he wants them to advance and become succesful.
