  1. Nice to see us post a substantial profit for the year. Just puts the icing on a good consolidating year for the Dee's. 2011 cannot come quick enough.
  2. Green will get it and deserves it.. But, i reckon it's time to give the captaincy to a younger player, give him 10 years of leadership, we are still probably 3 years away from a flag shot, i think Grimes oozes leadership. Invest in the youth is what we have done, let one of them lead them to the promised land!
  3. Know the family very well, His Boys are not into Footy that seriously. they love it, but have alot of other interests, music, Basketball and travel on teh cards for the eldest. BUt i can assure you they are very much demons thru and thru, which is cool!
  4. Ok take the nationality out (thought it was a bit dodgy of me to name a nationality seriously not a race thing didnt mean to, apologies everyone) replace it with Aliens then, but my point is they are a dime a dozen, and you want to read about the draft its hard not to read them, every "so called expert" is taking a stab.
  5. Yeah its all good and i know she is a good Journop and knows her stuff, i have no problem with that, but to be honest i am that sick of top 25's and Phantom drafts. Honestly, i reckon you go a recently arrived Indian (replace with whatecver nationality you like, its not a raciast thing!) and he could knock out a phantom draft just on the back of everyone elses.
  6. Im Just sad that He has left and the way he left. I reckon 5-10 years he might look back and say, wish i had stuck around..
  7. That. Plain and simple, i think Green has shown great leadership on field in teh last couple of years, and i think he is right for the time. Grimes is such a natural leader, and could be a 8 year + skipper. Davey and Moloney to fill in if Green is unavailable. I honestly beleive we have had a history of great captains. Lyon - natural aggresive leader who's actions spoke as loud as his words, Great leader of men Viney - Do as i do not as i say. Brilliant fit for the time, A captain in the middle is priceless Neitz - gentle giant who rose to become a giant of the game, captaincy just suited him. Jnr - Unassuming leader who willed himself to contests. Brave and fearless leader, great for our young guys ?? - needs to have a bit of all of these traits to take us to the next level.
  8. Nice one mate, lets hope they dont read this site. I know the Lyon boys, they are great kids and the best thing about them is that they all have totally different interests and are not at all footy driven. Its nice and refreshing to see them not being pushed just because of their name. Todd's appointment is fantastic, his passion will rub off1
  9. Paul Newman would be one of the best 3 country footballers in Victoria at the moment. Had all the talent to make it, just a country boy who didnt like the city. Shame.
  10. Just a heads up, dean bailey will be on the couch tonight with gerard and mike and james. Great timing. Green, watts and Wona goal assits on the menu. Also a good comparison with Geelong and the pies in the way we are scoring.
  11. Those are the matches we will win in 12 months. Scully was great in terms of workrate. Watts was good in terms of keeping at it (made some mistakes, but who didnt and doesnt) MacDonald was AWESOME i thought. Tough, and willing to take the game on, thats why we recruited hi. Loved his game today. All is not lost, 24 months ago we lose that by 10+ goals. in 12 months we win that game.
  12. There is one blatantly obvious move that will help our chances to beat Essendon. That is Drop Spencer. I'm sorry to Jake but he may be one of the worst players in the comp at the moment (and he is not even from Ireland).. he may get better and i hope he does, i know big men take a while longer to develop but he is shocking. We played with 21 men yesterday, and have every time he has played. he offers nothing. I am sure people will shoot me down, but he is not the answer, and if he gets another game then i will be shattered.
  13. i am not the biggest fan of Bailey and i completely believe he was appointed to see us through this time. 17 points at 3 qtr time was a good effort, would have loved to see us stay with them at least for a while. No inside 50 until the 5 minute mark is embarrasing. Our lack of a key fwd is obvious, but surely we we are not that bad that we could not have got it in once in 20 minutes. That alone is why we get scant respect in this comp and why some firmly beleive we might end up with the wooden spoon. Trenners was great, Watts was good and green was green. reliable. I love this club, but right now i dont like itvery much.
  14. he beat them did he.. on his own.. must be good.
  15. Yep, your right its demon Jack 16's fault that Melbourne have performed so badly.. Come on Hannabal, people are allowed to have their say here without being bullied. It is gradually becoming evident on this site that if you have an opinion that is different to to some of the veteran posters on here you are ridiculed or belittled. Its not cool.
  16. Ease up, just like the poster giving their opinion i am giving mine, think it is harsh. Its fine that he played like that i dont want to be told he played well if he didnt, but thought some slack might be offered in light of his comeback game. Relax.
  17. Last time i checked Darwin was not in Victoria. So going by that theory when was the last time we won a game, ( forget the last time we won a game.) Wow.
  18. gee we are harsh on a guy that is playing his first game back after a serious shoulder injury. Lets just be thankful he got through. he may have been just instructed to get out there and have a run around. I dont think we could critisice his work rate last year, so i suspect he will get his groove back when he feels comfortable with his injury and his confidence in his shoulder holding up.

    Plan B

it is not nonsense for starters and i for one am not saying that a Plan B is a radical new game plan change, but every club has plan b and C and so on in place to combat game day tactics, except maybe for WCE who seem to only have one method and do not change it.

    Plan B

Having a Plan B in football is having two crap Plan A's. It's an admission of failure.
  21. i have to agree with Bush demon. Lyon's overhead marking was not his strength, but to say he was rubbish is total football ignorance. He was a great mark on the lead, had great body awareness of his opponents and was as smart a footballer as anyone going around. Don't let your nostalgic ways blur common sense.
  22. Ingo was a great recruit... and even better, he has become a better demon.. a top man to have involved in our club. Its a great side, i am not that old to have seen some of the greats of yester year, but among my fav's are Brett Lovett, such an underrated and creative player, had brilliant hands. The Ox.. oh what could have been, in one gamve v Footscray he grabbed the ball and did a spin in one movement and hit Lyon on the [censored].. brilliant Lyon - a great leader, graceful mover All Aus backman and Fwd. Love em all!
  23. Probably because they have not been asked and the club has coaches for that stuff. seriously!
