Watts was ordinary.. and thats 2 weeks in a row. Cant deny that, cannot hide from the fact that at the moment, he is still a long way off. That does not mean he is no good nor does it mean he will be a champion. its just the truth! and some people "Cant handle the truth!!"

i have said this all year, the problem is we have no Plan B, and as hard as it is for some to hear, our Plan A lloks like it was a fluke. The way we played against Hawthorn R1 was shocking, but there was no hint of run and carry, it was a very defensive mindset, we got smashed, the next week, the wolves are at the door, and they look like they were told to just keep the ball moving and amazingly look what happened we nearly won.. Plan A is great if we continue to have belief in it, running is great but you also have to be smart, something a few of our ball cariers are not. and plan B needs to de devised very quickly!

i dont care who or who does not agree with me mate, certainly not you who clearly misread my post. Moving on though.

yep, a shining light, looks like a smart footballer, got to the right places. Correct me if i am wrong, but Martin copped a guilty charge at the tribunal which makes him ineligable to win the RS, can he still get nominated though.. hope so for his sake and the tigers sake..

Dont give me "here we go".. im not calling for him to be sacked.. Dont be so precious. The coach..any coach should not escape scrutiny on a bad day, just like players. Allowing a loose man in a Geelong defence is just a horrible mistake. they have a great defence as it is, why give them an extra leg up by allowing a roaming player to pick off any attack coming inside 50.

Im sorry, i thought this was the place to share your thoughts about what happened today. So no need to be a smart Ar$e about it, i just think he was comprehensively out coached and it was fairly obvious to most...
-
No, but i am sure a kid playing his 6th game might have liked to battled it out against one man and not 2!
-
Grimes - so he has a quiet day and needs to be rested - thats ridiculous. he is not 12 years old, allowed to have an off day. Watts - Crucified by shocking coaching. Bailey - No plan B.. shocking day in the box.

I think you will Find that 9 will be involved in the footy next rights and they are the ones that are really pushing the Live aspect, so personally i cant wait for them to be involved. They did it better than anyone.
-
Ok, not sure they were in the centre though, and anyway you look at it, it was a strange move to put him in there ahead of Miller. It cost us Goals. And please dont get me wrong i am not having a go at Col, i thought he had a real Dip, just a puzzling decision that all.

The beauty of Scarlett is he can play on anyone, small, tall, short or quick. No many match ups up really worries him. We need to exploit them on the rebound, they run off and back their attacking footy. If we can put midfeild pressure on like they have not seen before, then get it in quick, then we are a chance. We have to be ferocious and uncompromising this weekend, this game could define our future. it is a critical match in terms of where we are and how we are managed to bounce back from a hooror road trip, energy sapping conditions and a thrilling euphoric win. Cant wait to see how we confront the toughest gig in Footy. EDIT: sorry, does not have alot to do with Watts, but i have to post in this thread, it would not feel right if i didnt.

Leaving Spenser out of the side and letting Sylvia compete in the ruck, I believe is a master-stroke. It really gave Sylvia a challenge in which he stood up with flying colors. I agree with everything you said, nicely put. And Col through himself at the ruck challenge, which was great, he has a top leap, the fact he didnt win one centre bounce and it cost us 3 goals is another story, for another thread.

I am not saying they are going to get a game just because of their heritage, thats crazy. i think you will find jetta has been pushing for selection for a while and Wonna is probably someone who will get more out of playing in the ones that the two's. Thats all.
-
There is a bit of news around that we may have more indiginous players in the side this week than last. Its pretty good mail, obviously people will dismiss it, but i beleive it is pretty strong mail. Thats all.

how do we get MFC supporters to the Geelong game
Demon3 replied to Longsufferingnomore's topic in Melbourne Demons
By car, Bus or Train is a good start.. -
Crap. The only way we will rise up the ladder is to play the brand of footy that gets you there. Its a jumper, yes its ours and no we shouldnt have to wear away strips at home games but that is a very long bow to draw.
-
Like the ones who mistook Chip for Trengove.. then yes, they are idiots and they get paid well for it.
-
Because you would have kicked 5 today.. I thought he did a couple of really SMART things which tell me he will be a very good player and the marks he took were very encouraging.
-
Actually meant that we only managed 46 points. Hope that clears that up!

What i am frustrated about, is this constant need to handball. Kick the bloody thing long. We constantly handballed because we lost our fwd structure, everytime we looked up our fwds had been dragged out of position and there was nothing to kick to.
-
Think Green has been good this year, like most, so i think green bashers are being harsh, but Sylvia was very ordinary today, and last week and the week before against North, so i imagine we would be looking more from him.
-
Thought Jack showed lots of positives today, decision making and nice hands. Shocking day to be a fwd in the Melbourne team though, so i hop people remember that when they talk about his performance.
-
Overused the h/b, we were strangled across half back, and reactive in the coaches box. we have a plan A and when it works it is great, but our plan B stinks.. we dont have one. Teams will work us out pretty quickly.
-
Agreed. I guess i meant that our young kids will suffer ups and downs, but yes our senior core needs to better that that!

Today's disaster is a timely reality check of where we are as a football team. We are young, and our best is great to watch, but our worst is awful, and that will be the case until we get games into our young guys. Simple as that. 46 points is a disgrace on our home ground. Players went missing today and that is really disapointing. All our good early work this season can be undone with crap like today. For all those who talk finals, wake up. If this team cannot beat the Eagles at the MCG then we are still a very long way to go. Faith must be kept, and it will, but we have to be better than today.
