I'd like to see him at half back. He has good speed and can run to break lines, is a decent height and strong enough in the air to be able to zone. He is a nice left foot kick. I'd like to see him playing Hibberd's role but it probably won't happen.

No, not really, but it's absolutely no surprise you're sure of that. -

Yes indeed, I believe any sensible person with experience of the varying and unreliable outcomes of draft predictions would be hesitant to make definitive statements. Even more so when they have never seen the players live. You don't seem to have this type of prudence. -

How many times have you seen him live in action @Rusty Nails ? -
Yes so it's pretty rash to say: "Young is a lock at 3 with a fair margin between him and the rest. "

In the Chandler thread you're saying you can't understand why we gifted him a game and in this thread you're saying you can't understand why we kept playing Lockhart. Maybe the fact that half our list was unavailable might help understanding?

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
old55 replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
Past failure shouldn't scare us off. We need to learn from mistakes and try again. Taylor did OK with Oliver at these picks. If I could time travel, fixing MFC drafting would be down my list of priorities. -
So you're absolutely guaranteeing Young will be the best player in this draft after Rowell and Anderson? Big early call.

I'm not sure. We can get exactly who we want at 3 after Rowell and Anderson and that has appeal. -
Old mate Kane is really going to be staggered when Harmes, Lever and May are all MFC premiership players.

Are you sure that would be better than 3, 10 and 22? -

I think Jackson is key to the draft. We trade up to 8 for someone. It would be big to take him at 3 but Freo could take him at 7. If that happened we could bid Henry at 8 and swallow their pick 10 in the bid match. Freo would do well to trade 10 and 22 to us for 8. Then they could take Jackson, Robertson and cover Henry with later picks and some points deficit. That would be a great haul of WA players for them. 3, 10 and 22 would give us a nice spread. It all depends on who we really like at 3 and 8. -
Has genuine acceleration, high top pace and agility. Kicking is not horrible.

The most interesting thing about training apart from who's in rehab is which groups players are training with - backs, mids, forwards. It will be very interesting to see which groups Jones, Petracca, Jordon, Hunt, Fritsch, Sparrow, Petty, C.Wagner, Lockhart, Smith are training with.

Glass half empty. R1 even in WA gives us as good a chance as we'll get to beat West Coast and our players will be acclimitised to heat at that time of year. If there's a 6 day break then this is as good as any time, compared with the 3 6 day breaks in a row in 2018. We've got GWS at home, better than Canberra or West Sydney. Win these two and we're off to a flyer and won't see them again until September.

OK it was last year. But we're 3 home v 14 away against them since 2005.
-
When was the last time we had a home game v Essendon? I want to see them pay to watch us.
-
Probably true. I'm definitely in favour on paper but then I see that Geelong have re-signed Harry Taylor in preference. I wouldn't be in favour of picking up Taylor so thats a good indicator.

You and Olisuk should get a room. -
Thanks very much for the great summary LH. I don't think it's correct that we only have 3 picks. I think we have as many as we need to fill list vacancies up to 40 if we want to but they're at the end of the draft ie currently after 97.

Trademark logic error from you Rono. Your point all along is that we traded Frost because we don't rate speed and yet here we are looking at other players in the same off season with speed. Maybe Frost was traded for other reasons?

It might show for example that accuracy decreases the longer a quarter or match goes therefore possibly linking it to fatigue and so rotations could be adjusted. I appreciate that in your opinion everything the club does apart from sacking Goodwin is a mistake but try to be a little open minded

Perhaps you'd prefer we were going to bring back Trenners and McLean? Club cannot put a foot right IYHO.
