  2. He seems to be the most generally unlucky player in football at the moment. His tackles just fail to stick, his kicks miss by inches, balls don't bounce quite right for him, and so on.
  3. Way before. They both contributed nothing, but Watts' tackles didn't stick, whereas Dunn's tackles were all over the shoulder. I'd prefer a young guy with good endeavour and good kicking skills over a free-kick giving, no possession getting player who should have stepped up years ago. Dunn should be our sub at best this week..
  4. If he dropped that basic uncontested mark in the first 30 seconds of the game, you might not have remembered it. Look at what Jones did right and what he did wrong. If the good outweighs the bad, then I'd say he's had a good day, regardless of when his errors occurred. Having said that, perhaps he dropped the mark because he couldn't handle the pressure of the situation, in which case your point has more validity.
  5. Except for the fact that if we win against Brisbane, it's because we're playing Brisbane and not any other team.
  6. That is not a very good idea. If Davey gets dropped, then our next most creative player will get tagged. That couldn't possibly be good for our side.
  7. If a team wins every game by 1 point, then they will win the Premiership every year. Therefore, a win is always enough.
  8. 6 - Rivers. Started poorly but was great at taking defensive marks on whoever was the target. Should never be allowed to be isolated, and we should focus our entire game around having him playing loose. 5 - Moloney. Excellent clearance work. Easily our best player, when it comes to taking advantage of one of our only real strengths - our ruck division. 4 - Jurrah. Hopefully showed himself what he's capable of WHEN HE TRIES. He's not God, and I hope he realises that. 3- Jamar. Could have absolutely broken the game open if he'd kicked at goal accurately. Around the ground and in the ruck, there's very few better than him in the entire AFL. 2 - Jones. Answered his critics in the third quarter, but one good quarter out of 12 is not enough. 1 - Martin. Has finally adapted to the spot we need him to play in. the Jamar-Martin combo is going to be very good in the coming years. I wonder what we'll do when Max Gawn comes on.
  9. Some people do give him credit. Clint Bizket, you an me in this thread alone. And there'd be thousands of people at the game today who'll be giving him credit, because it is due. Sometimes he's not very good for us. Today he has been.
  10. I was one of those who suggested that Nathan Jones ought to be dropped for this game. It looks as though I was wrong. He's played quite well this quarter.
  11. A great mark and goal from Lynden Dunn, just to shut me up about him.
  12. Finally, a good piece of body work from Lynden Dunn. Brings the ball to ground for a Bennell goal.
  13. Agreed, but I think it's a physical thing. He's definitely slower than last year.
  14. Another head-high tackle from Lynden Dunn. What a doofus!
  15. I don't think a single one of Watts' tackles have actually stuck though. He's definitely been trying, which I love, but it almost always just results in him just twisting a finger or two up in the opponent's jumper. Althoug I put him as worst on ground, his effort has been good, and so I'm impressed with that. He's just had not much impact on the game at all.
  16. Worst on Ground so far (3 votes is worst): 1. Colin Garland. Not hard enough at the football. Goes in with one hand too often. 2. Jack Watts. I know he's young, but for the amount of time he's on the ground, I can count the good things he's done this year on one hand - which incidentally is the number of hands he goes in with. 3. Lynden Dunn. Layed about 4 or 5 head-high tackles, and is apparently deaf. Slow, no run and is generally not damaging in any way. Best on Ground so far: 1. James Frawley. Anyone who says this guy does not give us run from defence is an idiot. Wins the ball in the backline, runs 15 metres and kicks in 30 - 50 metres himself on a consistent basis. Just awesome. 2. Mark Jamar. Destroying them in the ruck, and winning the ball at gound level. Disposal around the ground is miles better than just a couple of years ago, and if it weren't for his poor kicking at goal, he'd be easily BOG. 3. Liam Jurrah. When this guy is interested, he is absolutely awesome. Has probably contributed to 75% of our goals this game. Has anyone noticed how much slower Brad Green is this year. He seems to have bulked up and it has not worked for him at all, IMO. Remember that percentage is not likely to matter for us this year, given the draw we had, so as long as we win this game, I'll be satisfied. Particularly since we'll need to play well for the next half to do so.
  17. Two contested possessions on the week-end. Two! For a guy like Nathan Jones, who's on the bottom of every pack, that's just not enough.
  18. Actually, all of those rules are there to make players fatigued, so that impact injuries are decreased. There's a difference between speeding the game up (which the AFL likes) and speeding the players up (which the AFL does not like).
  19. He reckons that Andy McKay is so conflicted that his "opinion" is likely to be heavily influenced by what the AFL thinks, and thus that reading his article would be a waste of time.
  20. He should go wherever the guy who's tagging him is least comfortable. If Davey can't break a tag, maybe Bailey can break it for him.
  21. Ah. New plan. Draft every player capable of beating Jack Watts. With all of them on the same team, Jacquie might actually perform well, since he has no competition. I kid! I kid!
  22. Bingo. Small muscly bald man =/= good at in-and-under.
  23. Wow. You must have gone to all his Casey games to make that kind of categorical statement.
  24. I find it so hard to believe that those two statements could both be true that I wouldn't be surprised if the universe collapsed in on itself from the sheer unliklihood of it all.
