  1. What? Kneeing Kosi in the back of the head isn't intimidating enough for you? I've seen him bolt out of the backline and start a chain of handballs after picking up his own ball quite a few times. Also, it's hard to block for your rovers when you're the one actually taking the ball out of the centre after getting 40 hit-outs per game. I don't think there's anything "cheap" about the games he's been playing. A guy who's not a #1 ruckman being asked to ruck for 90% of the game is definitely earning his pay, and Stefan Martin is progressing every week.
  2. He's what you call a football nerd. He probably sits in his basement at nights going over old footage of himself and writing down all the ways he could improve. Methodical to say the least, Tom Scully has no time for such petty contrivances we mere mortals refer to as "socialising." Either that or he spends all his time "girl-talking" with Sheeds.
  3. You only "need" a back-up ruckman who can drift forward because it's generally accepted that most ruckman make atrocious one-on-one defenders. Not so with Stefan Martin. In a world where every backup ruckman rests forward, one who can rest back and not just pick up cheap possessions while doing so is pretty handy.
  4. Those don't exist, Bub. I remember everyone creaming themselves a couple of years ago when Cale went toe to toe with Adam Goodes. I thought that was his "break-out game." Consistently good games are far more important than that elusive BOG.
  5. Bah! Robbie Flower was nothing more than an umpires' pet who didn't realize there were 21 other guys on the field. Consumate team-player, that's for sure. I kid! I kid!
  6. Brock McLean Cameron Bruce Simon Buckley.
  7. What if he doesn't respond this week. Do we send him to Casey then? Why risk it? Why not just put him there this week instead of delaying it by a week. If he answers his critics in the 2's this week, then the whole issue is that much closer to being resolved one week earlier.
  8. Great idea. Get Choco Williams - the only guy in the AFL responsible for a club with a more flakey playing group than ours.
  9. I'm starting to think that Nathan Jones should be our Captain. Not the best player, but always hard at it. Doesn't [censored], and keeps in touch with what the fans are saying. Good trainer, doesn't get in trouble, and is a strong leader. I'm for it.
  10. It just goes to show that copying the Premiers from last year just puts you perpetually behind the eight-ball.
  11. I'm 70 kg, but I eat when I'm depressed. Look forward to seeing me on the Biggest Loser next year. Dean Bailey should be there too because as a coach, he's got donuts.
  12. Neale Daniher must be laughing his arse of right now, by the way. Lucky for him, he's done with this club forever. We supporters however, are screwed.
  13. Kill me now? Kick my nuts? Keep mentioning Newton?
  14. Novel suggestion. Give each player a strong black cup of coffee just before they run out onto the ground. That always wakes me up.
  15. C'mon Dees! Let's show ourselves and the world that we're not just happy to bend over and take it when things get hard. Jones, Watts, Garland, Jamar our top contributers. Trengove also good.
  16. Rivers on Kennedy would be a huge mistake. Kennedy is exactly the type of player who makes Jared Rivers look ordinary. I'd rather play a 7-man backline than have Rivers match up on someone faster than him. Rivers loose = brilliant Rivers vs anyone fast = disaster.
  17. For a game between Geelong and Hawthorn, you guys seem to be turning it into a problem with Melbourne. Is that part of our "culture" too?
  18. This is how I'd coach. You don't win a game of football unless you kick goals, no matter how many possessions your forwards have up the ground. It's fair to say my father and eye don't always see eye to eye on this, though.
  19. Does Hurley play for Melbourne? If not, I'm not too concerned about him unless we're playing his team this week.
  20. Actually, I think everyone in this thread loves that. Only one person started this thread, but we're all participating in it, which I think is great. Nobody's forcing you to "take on" anyone. We're not ganging up on you. We just all happen to have similar opinions, even though they're different from yours. As an aside, do you think it's wrong for the NRL to play a game on Good Friday? EDIT: WYL - that's not cool. Harrison's free to believe what he wants. Why would you assume you know why he believes in the existence of God? And religion won't be the downfall of the human race; extremism will be. The Bible has facts about good ways to live your life with others. It may or may not explain why we're here, but it does provide a great way of bringing people together in support of one another (but only when those people are sensible enough to see when dogged belief is dangerous). I may agree with you about Good Friday footy, but I don't agree with your disrespect for Christians' relationships with God.
  21. It appears we may have gone a little early on Essendon. Their run is key, and it will be the same when we play the Pies on QB.
  22. I knew Essendon would get smashed the minute they decided to put Hill, Ryder and Bellchambers in the same team. The way to beat the Pies is tackling pressure (McKenzie highly important here) and a mobile forward-line (Jurrah, Petterd, Wonaeamirri, Bennell very important here). Winning the clearances is also going to be massive, and so the Jamar/Martin combo is going to be huge for us.
  23. Don't tell others what to do. That's the point of what I'm trying to say. I think you may be missing that, and if pity is your reaction to a person doing nothing on their weekend off work, then perhaps you need to look a little harder for a sensible response. And as for Little Goffy, were you offended by the movie Angels and Demons? Religion is part of our culture, and belongs to no-one. How is using the concept of the battle between good and evil so that money can be raised for charity and people can have a good time "cheapening" anything? The day is sacred to some people, but not to others. Regarding the "just as bad as" quote, what you and Harrisonrules are both doing is forcing your beliefs on others. You may view religion as something sacred that must be respected at all times. I view it as a part of human culture that can be responsible for a lot of positive things for individuals and society. I'm supporting a day where people can be happy for a few hours raising money for a great charity. This just happens to tap into one aspect of culture that a few people believe they "possess."
  24. I don't think there are any. That's the point. If there was a movement from members of the Jedi Order to have an annual Star Wars Day or whatever, would you consider it if enough people followed the "religion?" I wouldn't. Religious groups shouldn't be able to determine what the rest of society does on any level, at any time. Not to mention the fact that public holidays now have an entirely secular meaning anyway. It might be called the Easter weekend, but I don't change what I do for these couple of days every year. I get my days off work, but that's only because the people in charge have decided to schedule a series of work-free days during this period. If those days didn't exist, I wouldn't cry foul because in the grand scheme of things, they don't really matter to me.
  25. That's all well and good, but what about all the other religions' holy days that are not observed by the AFL?
