  1. Byrnes, Pedersen and Spencer are just not liked by the masses. Byrnes was our only dangerous forward last night (which says a lot), Spencer worked incredibly hard and we have no other options and Pedersen was playing a role is struggles to fulfil but should have kicked 3 if he wasn't a lazy kick. If we had fit players in form ready to come in? Hypotheticals are irrelevant to reality. We just don't have many to come in.
  2. Mate, plenty tried, they just don't have the skill of the bloke that this thread is about. He is another TJ - in more ways than the several ways you were thinking. Great effort.
  3. If Bernie Vince kicks those goals instead of posts we would have won that game. If we had a forward line, we would have won that game. Some of you are over reacting to a loss that you 'think' we should have won. Look at how many touches we had and inside 50s. We couldn't close the deal but I see the progress. Can those of you who want to sack a third of the team see it?
  4. They won that game with less touches and I50s and only a win in stoppages around the ground and on the scoreboard. We have a visible, at times, visceral gameplan and all the players looked good at times. If we can get a forward line going we can win games but when you are putting Bernie Vince at FF and Byrnes is your only option running toward goal - you will struggle. I can see the light, if the players can keep the faith.
  5. We do this over and over again. Keep eating our own. He effed up. He was reluctant and he never should have agreed to do it, but sh!t happens at footy clubs and he was a great servant and is a great fan now. And I can confirm he watches games and I can confirm he trudges out of the G with the same look of frustration and anger that us 'real' fans do. But keep sticking the knife in - self defeating BS.
  6. I find adding ''IMO" a tad redundant... I get the desire to highlight the Demon, but I understand the multifaceted way we have to be appealing if we are to turn our lot around. Is the Demon a part of that? Of course it is, but we also have to stress our name - Melbourne, our heritage - grand and founding, and the emblem establishes that in a quiet way. I don't want to keep talking about our history - the emblem nods to it and now we can move on and worry about the future. That is why I like the 'busy' and 'try hard' emblem. It establishes who we were so we don't have to keep celebrating the past as if we are eulogising it. There is a future!
  7. That's a good point. Highlighting an aspect of the club that is important to fans, may not be the best option to co-opt others to become fans. I really would love to see a full court press in Casey but we can't even get the Scorpions to change their moniker...
  8. How am I 'speaking for everyone'? And why don't you just stick to the arguments rather than worrying about my 'attitude.' If you are referring to my zeal on the white clash jumper I am hardly Sgt. Barbrady - I have my arguments that I put forward - I don't try to get people to 'move along.' That would be pointless on an internet forum - people can worry about what they want to worry about. I know I can be tiresome, but I try to be helpful. I guess it depends on your definition of helpful...
  9. I would like to see the median age and the spread of ages...
  10. Go and get a demon and market it to those that you want to - I am not advocating a change of name - I am saying that there is no need to get rid of the Emblem if you want to target people with the colours, or the city, or the Demon, or the city of Casey. And I would be stating the bloody obvious if I said that supporters are happier with periphery issues like this one when we are winning. I hope I don't sound too temperamental...
  11. There's the rub - no-one hates anything when you are winning games of footy. The emblem, the clash jumper, stuie, Etihad, etc. They all get less annoying when we start winning.
  12. You are bordering on hubris, you are so overly confident. If ever there was a team that a young, rebuilding St Kilda side could beat behind a dominant performance from the one star forward on the ground - it is fledgling Melbourne coming off a 2 win, 54% season.
  13. Everyone gets a clean slate... Except players I don't like.
  14. I like the emblem. We are a try hard, overly complicated club and we don't need a cereal box mascot for an emblem - we need to embrace our heritage in our emblem and then leave it there and move on to trying to win footy games. Marketing can be done but if you want to convince kids to be Demons - getting Howe, Jones, Tyson and Hogan fit and firing and in the media will be better than yet another 'fierce' looking Demon like the one in my avatar.
  15. There are only so many ways you can go with hell spawn. If you are truly worried about the image of our mascot - you should be advocating a move away from the Demon. 'Hey kids, look at this evil looking thing! Please like us!' PSD is right - become a decent footy club that plays exciting footy and has some personality and personalities and you will get the kids to be Demons. Not a new emblem and marketing campaign.
  16. So you reckon that telling them to go for 'the Demons' will get them on board? Bit scary. Kids follow players they like. Howe, Franklin, Rioli, Dangerfield, etc. They also follow who they are told to follow. They don't pick a logo that looks like something out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (god rest its soul) and go for a team. If we were going to use the moniker of the club to sell it - we should have picked a more family friendly mascot... de·mon/ˈdimən/ Show Spelled [dee-muhn] Show IPA noun 1. an evil spirit; devil or fiend. 2. an evil passion or influence. 3. a person considered extremely wicked, evil, or cruel.
  17. Yeah, it was never an either/or situation in my mind. I like the arrogance of the emblem. Collingwood has the Australian flag for crying out loud... Get a Demon logo and do what you will with it. Leave the emblem as it is.
  18. The old CBA stipulated that 'last year injuries' would get a payout and I know that his injury is related to something that happened in 2012 but how that is treated is not simple. The new CBA hasn't been released for some reason - so I can't say for certain what would be expected of the club in this situation.
  19. Yeah, the laws have changed so they are running out a few ways to get our agreement to the T&Cs to send us stuff. And, yeah, its a brand survey but move on from the emblem. I just feel like this is a waste of time - we do this every few years, it upsets some people, others like it, and then we get used to it and do it all over again. The footy over the next few years will define us, not some beefed up, 'fierce' Demon if that's what they are thinking...
  20. I have already put my thoughts into the ether. Doesn't matter what we think really. Wouldn't have a clue what will happen. But players sign agreements when they come into the industry and Essendon weren't the only ones that failed these men - they failed themselves. And escape from punishment should not come because there are no failed tests - Lance Armstrong never failed a test. And escape from punishment should not come because they didn't keep (or managed to destroy) records of what was injected. Apparently, evidence gathered points to banned substances. And escape from punishment should not come because their trust in their employers was misplaced. No other sport would have such a large loophole of rewarded ignorance. But what will happen? Who knows.
  21. Not sure of hyphen, but Mr Bean has already been told it would seem from the training report. Good luck to him. And to the four mids we got of various talent, age, and experience - please help Jonesy in there.
  22. He had OP as an 18 year old and then did his quad a couple times and then was in the preliminary AA Squad of 40 before his 22nd birthday. He missed 8 games in the three years before he came to the MFC. Again, you can allude to whatever you like, but don't delude yourself into thinking that Clark brought this freak injury on himself or that he was already an injury plagued player when he arrived - he wasn't.
  23. Not every sentence has to end with an exclamation mark!
  24. A journo is a journo. Those that knash teeth are as lost as those that laud. She is trying to sell a show/papers/herself. WGAF?
