  1. Pretty sh!tty sales pitch... And the reality is that winning isn't possible for 8 days. How about 'back up the talk', that way we won't have a season launch with the mute button on.
  2. AFL reporter on the Dees. He's paid to have an educated opinion on the Dees.
  3. That's pretty much what his letter says...
  4. He meant the above. The journalist tried a segue and it wasn't explicit though.
  5. Peter Ryan says he's off. Whose opinion matters? Only one in the end...
  6. But if you want to feel good about helping the club and its corporate partners - go to the link:
  7. A gameplan that 'stands up in finals' has more to do with those doing the standing. Our 'possession is gold' gameplan is broken up by bad skills, bad decision making and pressure. The first two will affect how you withstand the increase of the latter during finals.
  8. No he didn't. A poster on here - TGR - noted he was having his lower back rubbed prior to the Geelong game at a training session. The club played him and it was evidently the wrong call. It happens.
  9. Frawley gave an off hand remark a few weeks ago to that affect. It was a joke but a revealing one. I don't even think Roos has to say 'I am coach' - I think if he comes out and says 'I am at the club in some capacity indefinitely' he would satisfy a great number of people, let alone James Frawley.
  10. Growing? Airline? I know those words, but that sentence makes no sense...
  11. He is pleading for the sake of our Lord and Saviour.
  12. And btw, the above is alarmist crud - no-one wants to get rid of these two players. There is disagreement over the supposed irreplaceability of the former and there has been some discussion over the possible compensation for losing the latter. It does not equate to people 'wanting to get rid of' either.
  13. I really hate this sentiment. I haven't played AFL so I can't tell you which position is the easiest to play at AFL level? You can come down of your high horse, you look out of place up there. I can tell you from the experience, however limited, that HBF is the easiest place to play on the ground in a football match of Aussie Rules. I don't need your affirmation - I can own my own opinion.
  14. You answered your angst in your last line - Demonland is just 'enjoying a down' of the season.
  15. I don't disagree. I was just arguing whatever leverage we had from him being a RFA is now gone.
  16. Port did with Stevens and it didn't work... Or maybe it did. We can never tell who has re-signed with a club due to the possibility they go somewhere they don't want to in the draft. I am sure it has made a few think twice, and made a few decisions easier.
  17. What's he doing? Preparing for his AFL360 spots?
  18. It removes the leverage of the possibly going through the draft - something that is very real leverage but hard to measure.
  19. It hurts at the margins; Monfries was traded as a RFA, that is not an option if he is UFA. UFA also means that we have no leverage to push Frawley into the draft should he wish to leave. I agree that if he wants to go - it wouldn't matter if he was RFA or UFA - but it is now decidedly easier for him to leave, and to get to the club of his choice.
  20. Free Agency can help the club. It doesn't have to be a hindrance. In the NFL where Free Agency is at its most fluid - contracts are rarely signed mid-season. Usually players are re-signed in the days before the FA period or during the first week. Contracts in the AFL will be, predominantly, signed in August/September every year for the 'FAs' that choose to stay at their club. We spun Sylvia leaving through FA into Vince. Keep Frawley and we can go and target some 26-28 year old pros to help at the fringes. Lose Frawley and we can go to clubs with a top 5 pick and ask what they will give for it.
  21. You don't like me? Compensation should be similar, but if he goes for less as a UFA - that will affect the compensation. Primarily, this hurts our ability to keep him.
  22. What a rant... We have been the beggars to our own fall since 2006, the decisions we have made and the poor drafting we have done has led us to thins point. This is not some institutionalized rich/poor divide like in the EPL - we have done this to ourselves. And it isn't written in the stars that we have to continue to be everyone's [censored]. We used FA to our advantage with Sylvia and Vince. It is not our lot unless we let it be.
