  1. Not one team contains Robbo. I'm 99.999999% sure he'll be lining up in the goal square next to Juice and possibly Neitz.
  2. I think I said the same thing about Andre Gianfagna (rookie listed player) after a NAB Cup game in Darwin 2 years ago. It's early days so no need to panic yet. And if and when we cop a decent injury, they'll be elevated. Knowing our rotton luck it will be sooner rather than later. On a side note, it's great to see Moloney fit and firing again. Apparently he had an operation after round 19 last year, they're managing him well and is training at full capacity. Article on mfc.com.au. (still haven't learnt how to post a link)
  3. Who kicked the goals. Who else impressed apart from Weetra. Thanks!
  4. Any news on Sporting life (back page of AGE) is no news.
  5. Nice bit of respect shown for Petterd. I wouldn't bother with Cotchin. Doubt he'll be playing early in the season after his broken ankle recovery.
  6. Re Garland - remember this is just a squad, so Garland could easily start on the ground. I'd like to see both he and Martin in the squad however. I plain forgot about Buckley. He will certainly get a gig next Saturday. Its his third year in the system, so his time is now. I reckon he has a touch of class about him too. Noticed that in his first practice game for Sandi back in 06.
  7. Re - players missing at training If every player that didn't train today as well as Rivers, Bartram and Petterd who aren't ready yet miss the squad, this could be a possible squad for next Saturday V Geelong: B Frawley Holland Bode HB Bell Martin C Johnson C Yze Moloney Green HF Bate Miller Sylvia F Davey Neitz Robbo FOLL White McDonald Jones INT Meeson P Johnson/Jamar Newton Weetra Wonaeamirri Garland Buckley Warnock (edit Buckley in Valenti out) Players to miss: Rivers, Whelan, Bartram, Petterd, Dunn, McLean, Carroll (susp) PJ or Jamar as well as the first year boys. Seems to be a lack of midfield depth so hopefully McLean and Dunn play in our intra-club trial on Friday in order to get a game V Geelong.
  8. Good! Saw him at Chadstone the other week. His missus looked twice as good
  9. We need someone who will improve out bottom line. Is Waldron capabable of this?
  10. Maybe not last but bottom 4 is likely. Bad results usually follow bad bews, and we've had our fair share of that before the NAB Cup has even started.
  11. Certainly a sobering article. So if Brayshaw and the Roos are out seeking sponsorship, travelling Australia for donations and setting up an $8 million investment fund, why aren't we resorting to similar desperate measures. I hope our board isn't one of complacency who simply believe that we have the divine right to be in the AFL just because our name is 'Melbourne' and rely on the handout from the AFL for the next 20 years.
  12. Our figure is disapointing (15K) compared to everyone else. The price you pay for having the year from hell. Roos are on 20K. (I bet this won't be the case next year if they miss the finals) Lions are on 19K (they were lower than us last year) Dogs, Richmond and St Kilda are on about 17-18K The rest are over 20K
  13. Yeah the Melbourne fans were giving it to Yze even more than the Richmond fans - believe it or not. One of the first signs that 2007 wasn't going to be his year. FWIW, this is what I wrote about him in my post-match review of the Melbourne V Richmond trial game at Optus last year: Adem Yze - 2/10. The story of the day IMO. After having a 1 kick 1st qtr (which he messed up in a promising foward thurst) in the second qtr he accepted a pass in the forward pocket, only to hear 'footsteps' and more or less pulled out of the contest. Should of heard the throng of Richmond fans (and even some dees) giving it to him. To his credit he laid an important tackle just after that to make amends. Had a few cheap kicks/marks in the second half where he at least looked more comfortable at wing/half back. Needs a corker of a game next week to even gurantee him a rd 1 game. very concerning signs from the OOZe.
  14. ha ha gold It's a shame Melbourne's only 4 quarter performance last year was during a practice match at Princes Park
  15. I thought this thread was a load of crap until people started believing it:lol: He'd be trouble.
  16. Surely Harris is better than the "Snake-Skin Salesman". Remember that disaster
  17. You'd imagine they'll be pretty rusty for the NAB Cup game V Geelong if they've only had half a practice match as preparation.
  18. And yet Lions fans are ecstatic that they got TJ to the club and view him with rose coloured glasses ie - "he is an awesome kick so he'll be awesome for Brisbane". They've failed to realise that he has a number flaws including injuries aplenty.
  19. An AFL match being a curtain raiser for a VFL game Thats a first!
  20. It was. We turned a 6 goal deficit at 3 qtr time into a 5 point lead...only to blow it once again.
  21. Rather than start another Yze bashing thread (although I know it will turn into one ), I'd like to know where people think his best position is? It's fairly evident that Yze is part of Bailey's best 22, due to his elevation to the leadership group. Despite what most people have said, I actually thought Yze had a good season last year - when he actually stepped onto the park. Had hauls of 30+ possessions and still kicked some clutch goals. So where would you like him to play in 2008? Half back - setting up the plays Wing/On ball Forward pocket specialist. I think Bailey should seriously consider playing him on the wing. Apparently his fit and firing and he still possesses a lethal left foot - (after watching the Port and Bulldogs games on foxtel this weekend) so his service to Neitz, Robbo, bate etc will be silver! Too often the delivery to our forwards last year was total rubbish and too disorganised. I think Yze will have a solid year in 2008.
  22. Great game of footy that one! Sylvia, Davey and some bloke that wore no 16 for us were awesome. Loved some of Davey's work in the defensive 50, but also jagged 30 touches, 3 goals and 3 brownlow votes. That game was the most guttering of all 4 thrilling games. By the Essendon -Danhiher farewell game it was a given that we'd end up losing from any position. Hopefully this year, we learn to win the close ones!
  23. Put me in the 98% please.
  24. Sensational report and photos! So I guess Davey, Whelan and Bartram are the only blokes that will certainly miss the NAB CUP early weeks.
