Meh. Instead of doing a 7pm-3am session, they'll probably make it a 5pm-1am session and still come away with the same result. The story would've been more senstational if they were banning themselves from nightclubs during the season. Adelaide have sworn off grog - I think? As Rhino says, there has been a hell of a lot of talk from the boys but not much action on the field to back it up so far. *Cue for the apologists to remind us that its only practice matches*

membership nos. after family day
Bring-Back-Powell replied to True Believer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Getting very sick of all the North Melbourne 'nuff nuffs' on Bigfooty bragging about their 23,000 members, while we're 5,000 less than them. Lift your game people  -
I want Bailey to put Yze in the forward pocket to create a surprise mis-match for the Hawks defenders. If is fails, put him wing/half back.
-
Is Bruce any certainties to play either?

I think Lynden Dunne is ready for a breakout year.

I guess we'll find out how good Ratten is this year.

I love you blokes' optimism, but I can't see us making the 8. Campbell Brown OUT in round 1
Bring-Back-Powell replied to True Believer's topic in Melbourne Demons
But then again most supporters view reports of their own players with rose coloured glasses. Last week the Hawk fans were saying that Cambell Brown's report was rubbish. -

I like that idea! Newton playing in the pocket beside Neitz. Kind of like the dangerous Llyod/Lucas combo at Essendon. You're right in that Newton could provide a serious mis-match for the opposition as they certainly won't put their best defender on him. We could have a massive advantage in our fwd line for round 1 if Campbell Brown's suspension carries over for round 1. Go Crows this weekend! -

Wow, I can't believe that. Taller than Pavlich I guess Bate's one of those blokes the appears smaller than he is. My concern about Bate is his speed. He looked in slow motion against Geelong (NAB Cup) -

Still no Dunn or Wheatley. Also I hope Bruce returns the following week, and has a final hit-out for Sandringham during the week off. Despite the crap he receives on here and by opposition fans, he's still in our top 5 best players. And can we all just forget about Whelan. It will be a bonus if he plays a couple of games later in the year. My tip is Whelan to the long-term injury list and Valenti promoted. -
As long as McNamee is better than Steve Harris and the 'Snake Skin Salesman' I'll be happy!

I was thinking King Salmon, Alaska.

Sat Mar 8 I believe 2pm. Fantastic news. A full dress rehersal against a good side in the Kangaroos (who will be playing a full side according to Corey Jones) will provide good preparation for round 1, and tell us a bit of where we are at as a side. I was expecting us to fly to Canberra for the last weekend.

I agree with you as our membership is currently a disgrace compared to everyone else. MFC fans are so apathetic  In theory it would be nice to have a game at Princes Park the weekend after next, but the AFL makes the schedule not us. There is a game in Cranbourne and possibly Princes Park that weekend. However I'm sure we'll be shipped off to Broome or Mackay.

The problem Jack is that there is minimal practice games scheduled in Melbourne over the next two weeks. I believe 2 per weekend. So on the last week, it wouldn't surprise me if we head off interstate again because: -we've only been interstate once - There are only 2 or 3 practice games scheduled on the last weekend - one in Cranbourne , one at McLabour Park and one other if we're lucky. It sucks but I can see why we haven't played a game in Melbourne. -
What are your expectations of this season?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Anders's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly believe we will finish bottom 4 with 5-7 wins...which believe it or not will be an improvement on last year The pre-season is all about excitement and good vibes, and every club bar Richmond and Melbourne appear to be going places...although we all know 4 or 5 clubs will be in crisis by round 5!... Right now it's out of us and Richmond for the wooden spoon, if you listen to the average joe. It appears that our pre-season has been average at best, and the players that we've pinned our hopes on for a return from injury - Whelan, Rivers, Bartram appear no closer to returning while McLean and Bruce seem 'forever injured'. If we can somehow get our injuries in order, we'll climb back up the ladder...but thats a big if! We haven't got the worst list in the AFL, but I question whether it's finals material. Plus the introduction of a whole new coaching staff will get a hell of a lot of getting used to. Look at Ross Lyon for example - took the talented Saints to 9th would you believe. We will have some solid wins at the MCG against the bottom 8 sides, and maybe upset a Hawthorn, Kangaroos or Collingwood along the way. But I can't see us getting out of the bottom 4 or 5. -
Excellent work boys!!! Hopefully this is the year when people who are in two minds actually take up memberships. We need them more then ever! I'm sick of hearing how well the Kangaroos are going in the membership stakes.

Plenti to like about Valenti
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Spin-it-to-Goodwin-it's topic in Melbourne Demons
He reminds me of the "sherminator" off the American Pie movies. Very pleased with his debut (21 touches). Had an appetite for the footy and will play round 1 if he keeps up his form...as I can see Whelan or Bartram being unavailable for the first half of the season. -
Luke Williams is also rumoured to be making a late charge in the field.

No Sir Brock either? Disapointed Buckley's not playing. I guess players who show a bit of skill won't be tolerated <_<
