  1. I hope PG thought this one through.
  2. Lock in Sampi for the PSD. According to the Sunday HUN, we're going to take the risk and select him. Great news if true. You can't overlook players who have kicked 4 and 5 goal hauls.
  3. Lock in Sampi at pick 3. I think we're going to take the punt on him, which is great! You can't overlook players who have kicked 4 and 5 goal hauls.
  4. Agree with you RR about the inevitable. James Brayshaw may look the hero now, but he may be the same man responsible for the death of the club.
  5. Kangaroos to finish lower than us is a sure bet. Seriously, I have no problems if people are picking us for the spoon. Clubs will not fear playing Melbourne in the opening rounds of 2008 and I reckon that could be an advantage to us, ie- mindset of other clubs. I can see where their coming from in tipping us for the spoon. If you read Big Footy, here are a number of reasons why the Dees will win the spoon: *New coach *Loss of TJ *Too much reliance on Neitz, Robbo, Bruce and JMac (too bad they forgot about 10 others ) *Won 5 games last year *No defence (too bad no opposition fans didn't factor our horror injury run of 2007) And here is why other teams won't win the spoon according to the same flogs: Richmond - Kids improved out of sight towards the end of the year, and started to win games (Coll and Ess) Carlton - The arrival of Judd and Hadley plus the return of Stevens and the emergence of No 1 draft picks Essendon - Llyod and Lucas alone will ensure the bombers avoid the spoon. My stance is that we won't win the spoon but we also won't make finals either. 9th-11th is a realistic target considering our past year.
  6. The only reason I don't think Neitz should be captain is due to the fact that I can forsee him only playing 8-10 games next year as the old bloke is so injury prone these days. Therefore we'd end having Green, Bruce and McLean sharing the duties every other week. I actually wouldn't mind Bruce taking it on. Might fix his kicking Unfortunetly McLean stuffed up his chances in Europe, as he would've been my first choice.
  7. Thats fine, but I'll be annoyed if another club picks him up and he ends up transforming his career - after we were the club to trial him. Unlike Pickett, Sampi has age on his side and this should be heavily factored into MFC's decision.
  8. Question for RR. If Yze plays all the NAB cup games and has a solid but unspectacular campaign, ie - averages 2 goals a game in a forward pocket, would you select him for round 1? Or would you keep him at Sandringham for the first 4-6 weeks on principle and make him earn his spot?
  9. Yep, rememeber that. Finished it off with a 50 mtr goal as well. I though Miller was in for a blinder that afternoon as he returned to his favourite venue. Alas he put in his typical 10 possession, 4 mark 1 goal game. And we got spanked by 10 goals. He finished off the season with 11 marks and 1 goal against the tankers in a game that may have saved his career.
  10. A bit harsh on Brown there mate. Overall, he had a good career and was in career best form by the end of 2007. A case could've been made to give him one more year.
  11. I'd probably say McLean will have the better career if injury is kind to him. Has special leadership qualities on-field (certainly not off-field at the moment) and is one of the rare MFC players that opposition fans highly rate. But for some reason, I hope Jones has the better career. We're lucky to have both players on the list.
  12. I also agree with you Nugget. You can never have enough class in the side. Especially now that TJ's gone. I hope he has a big year and proves most people around here wrong. ----------------------- Also, after reading this forum for over 4 years I've learnt something. Apparantly if you turn 30, you have no right to be playing AFL footy
  13. Geelong West Coast Collingwood Port Adelaide St Kilda Brisbane Fremantle Hawthorn
  14. Yze should be put on trial in all 4 NAB Cup games next year. I hope he's there for round 1 though. If you've seen MFC's latest DVD highlights, you'll realise how lethal Yze's left foot has been over the years and he has the potential to be a 45-50 per year goal kicker as a full-time forward. But as others have mentioned, I can also quite easily see him retiring or being delisted at the end of the year as Bailey overlooks him in selection all year.
  15. Gary Moorcroft, Ross Funcke and Brent Grgic would have something to say about this.
  16. I think the club will convince Neita to have 1 more year at the helm, if they want a young bloke like McLean or Jones to take over - due to extra 150th year commitments However if they want Bruce or Green to take over, then that would be a different story as their both experienced and well trained in the media etc..
  17. I can see this kid being a cult -figure already!
  18. Now we can take you seriously
  19. I got some more John Meeson - Polly Farmer Isaac Weetra - Chris Lewis Kyle Cheney - Cameron Ling Jack Grimes - Greg Williams
  20. If the following players have an awesome start to the season they could be selected: Davey (A) McLean (V) White (V) Green (A) McDonald (V) Bruce (V) Robbo (A) Jones (V)
  21. Whats in it for CAC to try his butt off for a successful rookie-draft for Melbourne, now that he's heading to the opposition? Reputation?
  22. I'd take him only as an insurance policy. As we found out last year, you can never have enough defenders on your list. Much rather Sampi though.
  23. Guys, hopefully these name will make you feel better: M Clark S O'Brien D Breese R Funcke L Molan A Rogers N Smith G Moorcroft C Hunter H Neville Lets face it, he's picked up some absolute lemons over the years.
  24. Some comparisons are half realistic but what the hell do Petterd and Matera have in common?
