  1. T Mac will kick 40 goals this year as our number 1 key fwd. Has 2 major attributes to achieve this: 1) one of the most methodical shots on goal in the league 2) will take a contested mark at any stage of the game.
  2. Hope the bloke has a happy ending. Absolute legend of a player.
  3. Adelaide or GC to take the spoon this year. However, if Goodwin can’t improve our inside 50 efficiency and maximising the most out of our talented players, then we’re a sneaky chance at 21-1.
  4. I'm happy for Geelong to host all 8 games if it means the protected species in Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond cop a game down there.
  5. I’ve got no issue if we move out there permanently. My only concern is it’s so bloody windy out there and would the players be happy to travel there day in day out?
  6. OUTS: Spargo, Brown and Bedford have to be dropped from round 1. Spargo had 8 kicks, and all 8 of them went to the opposition off memory. Brown did bugger all, so may as well play Weid who does next to bugger all most weeks but is 8 years younger. Bedford had 2 kicks in an entire game of footy (though played a part in one of Kozi's goal) Jetta has the runs on the board, but looked off the pace and might be in trouble if his form doesn't pick up. ANB probably survives as he's known to kick a goal out of nowhere, but is otherwise a poorly skilled footballer. INS Jones and Salem for sure. Hore, Jackson. Hannan, Petty and no doubt the Wagners will probably be around the mark.
  7. The question we need to ask - is Goodwin the type of reputable character that would fall on his sword should we win just 3-4 games, and put the club first before his hip pocket? If so, it gives the club a lot of flexibility as Goodwin would likely receive a far less pay out than getting sacked. From what I saw in round 1, it's not looking good, but the apologists will no doubt blame it on an external factor rather than judging the product that was delivered on the field. According to Lever, the club was fuming after its performance rather than patting themselves on the back for out scoring West Coast 2 goals to 1 in the last quarter. However, It's probably as good a time as ever to be an under performing coach with a few years of security. I don't think pay-outs are going to be very trendy over the next couple of years. Having said all that, Goodwin should be capable of winning at least 7 games this year which will ensure he goes into 2021, albeit under a little pressure. We should be splitting wins and losses over the Norths, St Kilda''s Sydney's and Essendons of the league to get us to 7 or so wins. As for Ross Lyon for 2021, I wouldn't rule him out.
  8. Last night, Mark Stevens from channel 7 said the club will not be playing Bennell in round 2 but he may return in the early rounds if things keep progressing.
  9. For anyone taking positives from the game, Lever suggested that the club were fuming after our round 1 performance and were bitterly disappointed after an encouraging Marsh Series. It's hard to take a positives when the margin hovered between 28 and 40 points for the majority of the second half. And the mistakes and turnovers we caused we every bit of 2019. We will likely be a better team than our round 1 showing once we start playing mediocre and rubbish sides.
  10. Round 1 was a garbage performance by the club. The loss didn’t bother me as West Coast have an 80% winning record at Optus. It was the way we lost. Nothing changed from last year. 1) Dominating the opening minutes of the game, only to kick a bunch of behinds and letting the opposition off the hook. Then proceed to concede an avalanche of goals. 2) Horrid and inefficient inside 50 entires. Kicks beautifully targeted to Hurn, McGovern and Barrass from minute 1 to final siren. 3) Bush league type errors and playing players that aren’t up to it. Eg- Spargo continually kicking it to the opposition all day. 4) Innaccurate shots for goal because we insist on kicking it wide to the pockets. 5) We held up the ball when we should’ve gone fast, and we went fast when we should’ve played tempo footy. 6) Letting the other side kick Coast to Coast goals because of our pathetic lack of pressure. 7) Our so called gun players such as Brayshaw and Petracca who just can’t get the best out of themselves under Goodwin. Brayshaw since round 1 2019 and Petracca throughout Goodwin’s tenure. It was essentially round 24 2019. Hoping to see a far different and more efficient side for round 2.
  11. I have to agree. It does seem the players are overly coached and overly structured. Footy in the 1990's and early 2000's was so pure and high scoring with far less coaches and staff. Is still love watching the Dees play as much as ever, but getting a little tired of watching neutral games when the losing side is struggling to kick 60 points in perfect conditions.
  12. That was the game we started to get an ounce of respect back after being bush league standard in 2013. I can recall other team's supporters being genuinely happy for Dees supporters after the hell we had to put up with under Neeld and then Craig. All 4 wins in 2014 were on the back of us being amazingly accurate and the other sides throwing the game away due to horrid inaccuracy. Last year was the complete opposite as it was us that threw the games away.
  13. 100% agree. Goodwin had 5 months to not just tinker with our game plan but to revolutionise it. What did we dish up in round 1? The same inefficient, inaccurate, sloppy and mistake riddled football that we copped as supporters in 2019, but with only two players out. Not good enough from a coach on an alleged $750-800K year. Lucky for him the game was quickly forgotten by the media and fans, amidst the beginning of the crisis.
  14. The coaches are worried about how the standard of footy might look like going forward , but the games it at its lowest ebb IMO. The low scoring has reached a crisis point. In 2000 we had 5 games by the end of round 1 where both sides scored 100 points. Last year we had 3 games - for the entire season!
  15. Pies v tigers would probably be the number 1 requested game to watch at the moment given both clubs are at the top of their game at the moment. Kind of glad it’s not us against Collingwood rd 2. However it might still be GWS which would just be as bad.
  16. He was so off the pace last year in his handful of games, because of injury. However, round 1 proved we have a very average forward line so his goal kicking nous will be required at some stage this year.
  17. Surprised the one against Adelaide in Alice last year didn’t feature. Missed the goal he should’ve got which then threw Weideman under the bus a minute later.
  18. Lyon for mine. I don't recall Lyon playing too many poor games and was extremely reliable. Neitz on the other hand was a bit of a barometer of our success. How often would we ask the question: "If Neitz is on today, we're a real chance". Lyon kicked back to back high 70's goals in 1994 and 1995. Imagine how many more goals he would've kicked had he been a permanent full forward.
  19. Given that most of the league are going to be as rusty as hell in round 2, and there is going to be extended benches, there may be a slight argument in favour of Bennell getting there for round 2 - If he really is tracking well. Play him on extremely limited minutes and hope his natural talent shows through.
  20. Solid start to the season holding Kennedy goalless with just 4 touches. Hopefully he, Lever and O Mac (yes O Mac) can form a rock solid defence this year.
  21. It should be Pert's number 1 goal to negotiate with the AFL to have next year's Queens Birthday and Anzac eve games as our home games next year or else seek compensation. So much of our revenue would be predicated on those two events. To miss out in 2020 because of COVID-19, and have Richmond and Collingwood enjoy the home gate spoils in 2019 and 2021 just can't happen in my book. As for Collingwood in round 2, it may be a great time to play them as they would have lost a lot of momentum from their excellent round 1 performance. On the other hand, we could be 0-2 and holding up the ladder if the Pies are serious and we continue on with GOODW-IN-EFFICIENT football as per 2019 and round 1 2020.
  22. Would the AFL schedule us to host Richmond and Collingwood in front of no crowds this year and make no money? Then next year Richmond and Collingwood host us for Anzac eve and QB day and they then get all the money. Pert can't allow this to happen if he's a half decent CEO.
  23. Eddie’s trying to get Melbourne V Collingwood to reopen the season for Queens-birthday.
  24. Schwarz at his best (1994 season) probably nudged Neitz at his best. Remember in 1994 the Ox kicked 9 goals in the final home and away game and then followed up with a dominant week 1 final against Carlton. That was the zenith of his career right then and there. However Neitz had the far better career, is an all time Demon legend and has to win this quarter final.
