Oooft this is fantastic - thank you. What’s your source? Would love to dig into this further and look at intercept marks and tackles as well What’s really interesting from this stats is Grundy’s rankings too.

100% agree! Was just referencing Gawn as I think he is the best ruck, a known player to us, and also Preuss moved from Melbourne to GWS so a relevant comparison to my previous point about GWS’ ruck coaching and recruiting.
  3. Not a problem at all and I know that wasn’t and would never be your intention!
  4. Hey WCW, just a note that noob is a bit more of a put down term and mainly comes from online gaming. Newbie might be a better term if you don’t want to offend!

He did do his shoulder in 2021 and back in 2023. Interesting stat for 2022 is that his average hit outs was 32.6 compared to Gawn’s 27.0

The first half of his season was fantastic but he dropped off a bit towards the end. Marshall would have been close to AA over him. Will be interesting to see how he performs this year. Alternatively could we pinch GWS’ ruck coach?! They never seem to have a shortage of good rucks. Mumford, Preuss and Briggs. All journey men towards the end of their careers and all have done well there.
  7. Thanks so much Picket. Loved reading this about McAdams. Do you know which position Kossy was playing?
  8. The context was what our midfield depth is without Oliver, so apologies for me referencing this exact problem in the most recent season. To your point above when we lost Oliver we didn’t use Dunstan once, we used Harmes as a sub/subbed 3 times and only played Jordan 4 times (including as a sub). So barely using these players which we’ve lost seemed to work?
  9. Good point. I’m excited to see Sparrow this year - he should be at his prime.
  10. Well said. He bump on McStay and losing him for the Carlton game when we were already lacking forward depth should hopefully be a good learning lesson for him. Looking forward to a more powerful and cleaner 2024.
  11. Oliver was injured for 10 games between R11 - 21, and we won 7 of those without him including against Collingwood, Carlton and Brisbane*^. That win ratio of 70% was higher than with him which was 60%. *The ones we lost were by an average of 8 points per game. ^Interestingly, we lost against those same three clubs when Oliver was in our team (Brisbane R2, Collingwood QF, Carlton SF). Perhaps not having him made us more unpredictable? Bit to think on that. Midfield depth or structure isn’t the issue, it’s been our goal kicking.
  12. Why don’t you think it was a coincidence?
  13. Hertz has had an amazing journey over the past 3 years. Gone from Chapter 11, $18bn in debt, then came from the grave back to the Nasdaq, ~$15bn market cap and now back down to $2.5bn!
  14. Apologies, delete
  15. Absolutely pumped with Windsor and Tholstrup. We need Windsor’s pace and their combination with some of the young guns coming through will be a great competitive mix for 2024. Really feel the club have got the ‘needs’ ticked and the balance of young vs experienced ticked. Bring it on!
  16. More like raspberry lemonades with extra sugar from the look of those kids during the live cross to Brownie!

  19. Melbourne #6 -> North North #2 #6 -> West Coast (= Curtain & satisfies their want for 2 top 10 picks) West Coast #1 -> North (= Reid) North & West Coast Future First Rounds -> Melbourne Would you?
  20. Love it!!
  21. Am I right in that we are tied with Collingwood for the most amount of games at our preferred stadium (at 14)?
  22. Sounds like we’ll need to make a “Visy Environmental Ambassador” for $500k pa type offer to get him back out!
  23. Hi WCW, The post was on 17-October. Whilst you didn’t attack their post, your response about the futility of lobbying was: “What’s the point though? What would lobbying achieve? A grand total of ZERO is the answer. Seems the only time we get something favourable is when it’s by happenstance, ie. something favours the Collingwoods and Carltons and we somehow are involved. Even then I’m sure it’s not through lack of the AFL trying to negate such.”
  24. Great draw. If we perform we have a real opportunity for a top 4 finish. Sure others have better, but who cares. Most of the time an easy draw is a hubris trap and you’re not competing against the teams you’ll be playing in finals!
  25. Went downhill after Unilever bought it
