PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 22nd January 2024
Thanks so much Picket. Loved reading this about McAdams. Do you know which position Kossy was playing?

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 19th January 2024
The context was what our midfield depth is without Oliver, so apologies for me referencing this exact problem in the most recent season. To your point above when we lost Oliver we didn’t use Dunstan once, we used Harmes as a sub/subbed 3 times and only played Jordan 4 times (including as a sub). So barely using these players which we’ve lost seemed to work?

Good point. I’m excited to see Sparrow this year - he should be at his prime.

2023 Player Reviews: #2 Jacob van Rooyen
Well said. He bump on McStay and losing him for the Carlton game when we were already lacking forward depth should hopefully be a good learning lesson for him. Looking forward to a more powerful and cleaner 2024.

Oliver was injured for 10 games between R11 - 21, and we won 7 of those without him including against Collingwood, Carlton and Brisbane*^. That win ratio of 70% was higher than with him which was 60%. *The ones we lost were by an average of 8 points per game. ^Interestingly, we lost against those same three clubs when Oliver was in our team (Brisbane R2, Collingwood QF, Carlton SF). Perhaps not having him made us more unpredictable? Bit to think on that. Midfield depth or structure isn’t the issue, it’s been our goal kicking.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Absolutely pumped with Windsor and Tholstrup. We need Windsor’s pace and their combination with some of the young guns coming through will be a great competitive mix for 2024. Really feel the club have got the ‘needs’ ticked and the balance of young vs experienced ticked. Bring it on!

Sounds like we’ll need to make a “Visy Environmental Ambassador” for $500k pa type offer to get him back out!

Hi WCW, The post was on 17-October. Whilst you didn’t attack their post, your response about the futility of lobbying was: “What’s the point though? What would lobbying achieve? A grand total of ZERO is the answer. Seems the only time we get something favourable is when it’s by happenstance, ie. something favours the Collingwoods and Carltons and we somehow are involved. Even then I’m sure it’s not through lack of the AFL trying to negate such.”

I reckon the final nail was him going to the races the night before the grand final.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Greene had a very solid year and I was surprised they delisted him too. He has been injured a fair bit over his journey previously with the Dogs and I wonder if his latest knee injury is a part of this. He would struggle to get a spot with a fully fit JVR, Fritsch, Petty and Melksham, but would be in front of BB and TMac and only 25/6 years old.

And that win was last week, when we haven’t won one in 2 years! Historical stats like yours and mine can be abused. Objectively speaking, they’ve won 9 of their past 10 games which included beating Collingwood and Port Adelaide. As they sit right now they have a great midfield and defence, and therefore they are a great team. I genuinely believe that we are better. Still doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate who we’re against.
