My goodness can the kids play. Great win, go Dees!

I always thought he did a great job as a second forward to Hogan. Often decoyed and created space for him. Was thinking about this the other day as we struggle to do this now.

This is a must win in my household, not just for me but for my little one. Wife and father in law are devout Essendon supporters. Many Essendon paraphernalia has been intercepted or thrown out, but I’ll struggle to keep this up if we lose. They’ll be too strong. Go Dees.

I think we need to bring a hard tag back. We don’t have the midfield quality to be able to let the opposition run free anymore. They’ve been using Berry, so wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to Viney. In turn we should put ANB on Neale who struggles to shrug attention. Would like to see Rivers spend more time in the midfield. Really not looking forward to it, but an opportunity to see what our coaching staff can come up with.

In the past four games we’ve been beaten by the wooden spooners, pumped by nearly 100 points and embarrassed on the big stage by a premiership fielding half their list. Genuine question, where to from here?

Great points. Only one I think could be a positive was that whist McAdams did spill a few chances, he did contest a few zero hopers and brought the ball to ground. A bit of contest we haven’t had!

Great win. Stocker was wearing Petracca like a glove. Barely looking at the ball and purely trying to take him out the play. Christian was getting quite frustrated in the third quarter, but what was really interesting was the body blocks Oliver was doing around the stoppages and Christians ability to speed out of play. Full credit to Goodwin playing him forward and Pickett in the midfield too, which is what helped change our second half a bit. Go dees.

Time to hang up the boots Ben. Very disappointing past three games. Just lumbers about and barely breaks a mild jog. West Coast: 99 minutes for 3 touches, 1 goal and 1 tackle. Brisbane: 97 minutes for 4 touches, 1 goal and 0 tackles. Adelaide: 82 minutes for 5 touches, 0 goals, and 1 tackle.

I think Carlton are close to #1 on goals for centre clearances, but 2nd worst at goals outside. Collingwood beat them by exploiting this by having goal side players and forcing stoppages. We just blatantly bombed it in to outnumbered forwards and got punished on the rebound.

Viney was the only one from start to finish. Thank goodness.

This is the most pathetic forward 50 display I’ve ever seen. Billings - 4 touches Fritsch - 3 touches Petty - 1 touch Pickett - 1 touch JVR - 7 touches and not one in our 50 Inside 50s - 28 to 20 our way, and not a single score from any of them. The ball is being walked out. Everyone else is pulling their weight. No matter how good your midfield and defence is you can’t counter the ball being rebounded out so quickly.

4 minutes into the game and he’s yet to touch it!! Up there with his mate Petty!!

The one thing that all my Essendon mates say is “we have a young list, what do you expect - we’ve just got to put games into them”. It’s rubbish. Shout out to @WheeloRatings, but Essendon are at the AFL mean (25.9 years) and only 0.2 years younger than us, which isn’t that impressive when you think we have Ben Brown (31), TMac (31) and Gawn (32) playing. Absolutely time for the focus and commentary on their culture to be turned up.

The AFL has completely butchered umpiring. Umpires have been calling to get rid of the bounce due to injuries and mental health since 2014, the AFL changed their training and they no longer train together or have access to a gym, and they abuse they cop is back because it’s clear that dissent is not a rule anymore this year. This is against the backdrop of footy being short of 6,000 umpires.

Spot on WYL. A lot of clubs don’t know how painful it is like we do. We had to endure two expansion clubs and free agency in our rebuild. If you’re rebuilding in 2027-29, it’s going to be very challenging. It’s tough to rebuild a list, it’s even tougher when all the available talent - young and old (like Scully and Frawley) - gets sucked out.

For some context, at the time he had 3 children under 2, including two with autism, and no family support.
