  1. Can you please limit the death (been over a few posts) references, torture and assaulting posters and Hitler. It’s offensive and in poor taste to some of the broader discussion of a players welfare. If you want to post about things other than Maynard like the upcoming Carlton game, there is already a seperate thread for this. Lastly, I’d suggest that if you're asking “who cares about Maynard” in a thread titled “Maynard must get 4 weeks”, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Move on mate.
  2. And for all of his line up and preparation, he couldn’t even touch the ball
  3. He looked genuinely out of it when the team was singing the song in the rooms too.
  4. What I hate most from the commentators and media was them all saying that Maynard couldn’t delete himself when in the air. It’s pretty simple - don’t jump. The moment you jump you lose all ability to manoeuvre and that is why his action was careless. Tackling, bumping, spoiling are all footy actions. But the moment you jump and forgo any control of the situation or outcome, you’re being careless. Careless is after all defined as: “not giving sufficient attention or thought to avoiding harm or errors”. Lastly, about duty of care… watch the replay, Brayshaw had his head down to kick and the ball had started dropping before Maynard jumped…
  5. My observation at the game was a lack of forward strategy / structure. Everyone was going to the same spot, no one was decoying and no one was trying to create space. We spoiled each other and on the occasion we blocked it was way too obvious (how can so many other clubs do it and get away with it?). I can’t see a KPF changing things. We need to go back to basics and get a new forward coach.
  6. Who cares about Maynard. Angus going down wasn’t our issue. The fact that we had 32 more inside 50s is the issue. I’d be focusing on that next week. How on earth are we going to overcome a compete lack of forward strategy?
  7. This one will take a while to digest. I’m incredibly disappointed by our forward structure in the first half. Things looked better later, but you can’t give them such a head start. This is comes down to coaching and is bordering on hubris.
  8. Interesting to see Noble has been dropped by Collingwood in favour of a slightly taller Markov. Must be worried about the match up against TMac, but interesting to see if this destabilises them a bit noting Noble has played all 23 games this year. Dees by 14
  9. Not a bad article from Howe in The Age: “I think the clubs, Melbourne and Collingwood, both got what they wanted. I wasn’t performing, I wasn’t enjoying my footy, and if I tried to stick it out, I don’t reckon I would have enjoyed it. There was a contract on the table, but I decided I needed a fresh start. I didn’t have to go too far – I shared the same carpark.”
  10. You’re all forgetting the most important rule: Never get into a fight with a Collingwood supporter… because they all share the same DNA and have no dental records!
  11. I’ve just walked down to the $2 shop and bought a poncho. … disappointingly was $5
  12. Good note re the small forwards. This will shape up as one of the all time selection decisions for both clubs!
  13. Agreed. He was great for the highlight reel, but his high bombs and kicking into the man on the mark were constant issues.
  14. They’re ranked 16th & 17th for contested and ground ball gets, respectively. So on one hand the wet might stop their quick movement and best strength (scoring from their defensive 50), but on the other hand it might bring down the quality of our own contested footy and equalise things. I think our biggest advantage in the wet is that they will have to play Cameron and Cox. They’ve flirted through the back end of the season with just Cameron and subbed out Cox, but neither are up to a solo ruck contest against Gawn.
  15. Nick Daicos confirmed out (source: The Age) “He’s progressing really well, really happy with the progress so far. He’s completed a couple of runs and pulled up really well from both of those. The timing is just going to be a little bit short for the first final [qualifying final], so we will rule him out of that one” - Magpies high-performance boss Jarrod Wade
  16. Very high quality packaging and not too much wastage. Scarf is a bit simple, and would have liked to see the years of membership stitched, but trade offs I guess!
  17. Not a problem Luci - it was a fair question! I’ve always had a lot of respect for your posts.
  18. Luci, the Neeld/Davey allegations were completely false. Nothing was leaked. From memory Davey refuted this immediately once the one article was published and he was quite upset at the allegations. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/false-race-claim-leaves-afl-red-faced-as-davey-denies-involvement-20120403-1wb4j.html Austin left after his fathers passing and his role in his community changed. Jurrah’s circumstances are well documented. It was good seeing him at Alice Springs supporting the club where no ill will was mentioned. You’re asking fair questions under the topic, but be conscious of unfair conclusions and comments.
  19. Congratulations, we’ve hit 200 pages of speculation!
  20. It’s better than turning 16 and getting a letter from Prince Andrew
  21. Did I hear Brisbane supporters booing Petty?
  22. I’m weirdly excited for this game. Not confident, but genuinely excited because this game will help to answer so many questions around our loading, fitness, game plan, predictability and selection consistency.
