Hahaha I didn’t know that!

I reckon the final nail was him going to the races the night before the grand final.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Greene had a very solid year and I was surprised they delisted him too. He has been injured a fair bit over his journey previously with the Dogs and I wonder if his latest knee injury is a part of this. He would struggle to get a spot with a fully fit JVR, Fritsch, Petty and Melksham, but would be in front of BB and TMac and only 25/6 years old.

GAMEDAY: SF vs Carlton
And that win was last week, when we haven’t won one in 2 years! Historical stats like yours and mine can be abused. Objectively speaking, they’ve won 9 of their past 10 games which included beating Collingwood and Port Adelaide. As they sit right now they have a great midfield and defence, and therefore they are a great team. I genuinely believe that we are better. Still doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate who we’re against.

GAMEDAY: SF vs Carlton
I’ll caveat the following that I’m extremely nervous and that any team can honestly win it from here. Carlton are a great team, but with many threats from friends of 🎾 emojis (straight sets) incoming if we lose, I’ve got to believe the following… Dees by 36 Defence: May and Lever to dominate. McKay and Martin are massive outs. Martin is targeted more inside 50 than any other player. Midfield: We’ll have ruck advantage with TDK likely having to spend more time forward to fill McKay’s role. Carlton’s midfield has the tilt though. Forward: We’re down on stock, but if we can lower the eyes and stop the high entries, I think our strategy of playing small will beat their tall defence. Hoping the Dees to open strong in 1Q, expect an arm wrestle 2-3Q, then a blow out 4Q.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
I reckon he’ll get off. It’s moments like this that can galvanise a team. 12 quarters of footy. That’s all we’re asking for and left. Do it for Gus and beat them fair and square - unlike what they did to us.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Can you please limit the death (been over a few posts) references, torture and assaulting posters and Hitler. It’s offensive and in poor taste to some of the broader discussion of a players welfare. If you want to post about things other than Maynard like the upcoming Carlton game, there is already a seperate thread for this. Lastly, I’d suggest that if you're asking “who cares about Maynard” in a thread titled “Maynard must get 4 weeks”, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Move on mate.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
And for all of his line up and preparation, he couldn’t even touch the ball

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
He looked genuinely out of it when the team was singing the song in the rooms too.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
What I hate most from the commentators and media was them all saying that Maynard couldn’t delete himself when in the air. It’s pretty simple - don’t jump. The moment you jump you lose all ability to manoeuvre and that is why his action was careless. Tackling, bumping, spoiling are all footy actions. But the moment you jump and forgo any control of the situation or outcome, you’re being careless. Careless is after all defined as: “not giving sufficient attention or thought to avoiding harm or errors”. Lastly, about duty of care… watch the replay, Brayshaw had his head down to kick and the ball had started dropping before Maynard jumped…

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
My observation at the game was a lack of forward strategy / structure. Everyone was going to the same spot, no one was decoying and no one was trying to create space. We spoiled each other and on the occasion we blocked it was way too obvious (how can so many other clubs do it and get away with it?). I can’t see a KPF changing things. We need to go back to basics and get a new forward coach.

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Not a bad article from Howe in The Age: “I think the clubs, Melbourne and Collingwood, both got what they wanted. I wasn’t performing, I wasn’t enjoying my footy, and if I tried to stick it out, I don’t reckon I would have enjoyed it. There was a contract on the table, but I decided I needed a fresh start. I didn’t have to go too far – I shared the same carpark.”

What They Are Saying at Victoria Park: QF 1
You’re all forgetting the most important rule: Never get into a fight with a Collingwood supporter… because they all share the same DNA and have no dental records!

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
They’re ranked 16th & 17th for contested and ground ball gets, respectively. So on one hand the wet might stop their quick movement and best strength (scoring from their defensive 50), but on the other hand it might bring down the quality of our own contested footy and equalise things. I think our biggest advantage in the wet is that they will have to play Cameron and Cox. They’ve flirted through the back end of the season with just Cameron and subbed out Cox, but neither are up to a solo ruck contest against Gawn.

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Nick Daicos confirmed out (source: The Age) “He’s progressing really well, really happy with the progress so far. He’s completed a couple of runs and pulled up really well from both of those. The timing is just going to be a little bit short for the first final [qualifying final], so we will rule him out of that one” - Magpies high-performance boss Jarrod Wade
