  1. I did indeed. Not gonna say who told me about the post-match tirade, suffice to say it was from a reliable source who has never told me anything that turned out to be untrue. I’ve since heard the same thing from a totally different source.
  2. I’m not questioning going harder at the ball. I’m saying that being even partly mindful of “making Maynard feel every tackle” is an unnecessary waste of concentration.
  3. If any player is paying any mind to making *”Maynard feel every tackle” even for a couple of seconds, that’s a couple of seconds too long. Maynard’s a thug, it’s innate. He belongs at Collingwood where thugs thrive. We boast a great culture and that should include not fighting fire with fire. *making him feel every tackle isn’t terribly different from roughing him up. Almost forgot… IMHO.
  4. Dais, Turner is referring to the Ben Keays goal, Adel vs Syd., not the ANB non-goal. 👍🏽🙂
  5. So we should’ve focused on roughing up Maynard, thereby not 100% focusing on the game? With respect, that sort of thinking should be left in the past, where it belongs.
  6. I hate this ‘flying the flag’ [censored]. Who does it benefit? And how? Serious questions. You think it’s wise to have a bunch of our players run to physically retaliate against an opponent and risk being cited for an errant fist to the face or something? Is it wise to have our players hopelessly out of position when play resumes?
  7. The players have access to a psychologist 24/7 for personal issues. I don’t know about practical footy issues but you’d like to think the Club would have a sports psychologist for such.
  8. FWIW, our banner from last week… PASSIONATE AND POSSESSED WE LOVE YOU, GUS & HIBBO DEMONS AND DIAMONDS HARDER THAN THE REST WE SHINE UNDER PRESSURE IT’S WHAT WE DO BEST For mine, the best graphic we’d had all year.
  9. I was never a member of an elite level ballet company but I was forced to take ballet lessons for a couple of years as a child since my mum thought it would cure my clumsiness (it didn’t). I can tell you, my ballet mistress would strike fear into the heart of the toughest AFL player. She’d eat AFL players for breakfast. 😁
  10. … because there’s no shortage of past players from other clubs now in the media who’ll happily lay the boots in at any opportunity. It hurts so much more when one of our own does it. Personally, I can’t stand the way Garry never goes in to bat for us. Ever. I used to think it was just him overcompensating when trying to not sound biased. But now I believe that for whatever reason he just doesn’t value us. It would be so nice to have someone like a Cornes or a Buckley who (rightly or wrongly) overtly defend their clubs.
  11. Still a chance? STILL???? How can I put this nicely… not if you were the last grotty old bastard on earth.
  12. Re set shot kicking, before every match some of us are in our position directly behind the goals for two hours before game time. We watch the warmups and on most occasions we see our players nail shot after shot, from every angle and from various distances, only to see the same players during the match miss what should be easy shots on goal. Clearly this speaks to the psychological aspect of lining up for goal.
  13. Sweet baby Jesus, I can’t begin to imagine how you’d describe Hate. 😬
  14. Uhm… thanks (?) Not sure if you’re being sarcastic. I shared what I’ve been told. Emotions are clearly still running hot here and people generally don’t like what they hear after such a heartbreaking end to the season, no matter what’s said. 🙁
  15. How do you know he hasn’t owned it? Ignore what’s said and what’s not said in the token pressers. They’re not worth [censored]. For example, Round one this season, Voss was positively lambasted for saying he was happy to walk away with a draw vs Richmond. One of the rare times a coach has expressed his true feelings in a presser and he was shot down. It’s no wonder they stick to a script.
  16. So if he was to “own it” and he was to say things such as what you’ve suggested, you’d be satisfied? As his “employer” hearing him trot out the “humble mea culpa” would suffice?
  17. Goody like everyone else is only human. I’m sure he wouldn’t be comfortable having torn strips off the players immediately after the match. I hope the players know this and it doesn’t change the fact that they all love him so much, which they do.
  18. I deliberately neglected to say that he started his tirade against Kozzie by calling him a f****n !d!ot. Clearly he was overcome by emotion because by all accounts he’s not usually one to yell at them in anger let alone name-calling. I didn’t mention that part because I’m a huge fan of Goody and I was sad to hear that he’d caved in to his anger and had uncharacteristically insulted the boys.
  19. What’s to stop this happening again?! It’s absolutely outrageous. The goal umpire on this occasion was stood down; cold comfort for Adelaide.
  20. I don’t think he’s answerable to the fans. What do you think he should’ve said? He could say what the fans wanna hear - whatever that may be - but would that appease anyone? The pressers aren’t even important imo. What purpose do they serve? You only hear what the Club want you to hear.
  21. Who cares what Goody says in his pressers, or how he says it. He’s not obliged to tell anyone anything, our supporters included. It’s what’s said behind closed doors that matters, and we aren’t privy to that. On that subject though, I’ve been told by a reliable source that Goody unleashed a scathing verbal attack on the whole team straight after Friday’s match. He didn’t hold back, it was brutal, he ripped right through them, even singling players out, Kozzie being one such player. And it seems the players were told there’d be no Mad Monday for them, and that Goody is gonna get them “out on the track harder and earlier” this off-season.
