Or Somyurek to completely snooker them and a need to change the news cycle. Either way I don't care. Let's all get there and celebrate.

Surely lifting the premiership cup should have been in the season highlights for big Maxy.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Wrecker46 replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry if this an ignorant question but when you are heading towards a premiership I had much less focus on the draft this year. I imagine WA and QLD u18's played this year but Victorians would have played little in the last 2 years. Is that correct? -
Can someone who has watched young Woey more than me explain why he has explosive pace and his bio has a strength being a penetrating kick but an improvement (weakness) hurt factor?

Who needs a big preseason at the MFC?
Wrecker46 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we talk about strong preseasons we think about fitness and weight rooms. Weid needs a strong preseason between the ears. -
You don't win premierships unless you have the best players. It's no coincidence that Oliver won the coaches award the year we win a premiership.
-
@Skuitis the clear winner for pub fights or UFC. @WERRIDEE is the best team for mine but it hurts because doesn't have Oliver.

We nailed the 1986 Draft...or did we?
Wrecker46 replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
After this year I need to reasess my favourite MFC players. Alan Johnson is still up there. I am wearing number 9 in alot of childhood photos. It was before Neitz and clearly Johnson. -
POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Wrecker46 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't wait for our next grand final where a player kicks 6 and nobody thought he would win the Norm Smith. I'd be looking at Bailey's brother as a rookie this year who apparently kicked 20 in a game during the season. Or at least get him to Casey. -
You would be filthy if you were a Brisbane supporter and Casey Voss goes on to play for another club.
-
Let's be honest we all care more about the 20m sprint because of Taj Woewodins time. In horse racing you line up form based on sectionals at any given track. If you race at a different track you can't really compare the times. Young Woey is obviously quick and I'm pretty confident we will pick him up BUT there seems to be alot of WA boys featuring in the 20m times. Better deck?
-
JT seems to have an emphasis on drafting highly competitive players but also players who blossom late. He talks about it alot when interviewed and has said Taj Woewodin really showed improvement in the late part of the season, which is a dead giveaway we will pick him under F/son. Sam Peaa has clearly blossomed late. If he has a competivee streak in him he will be on our radar.

If we didn't get our culture, coaching and development right Sparrow and JJ could be on the scrap heat. Now they are waiting in the wings of a dominant midfield and can seriously look at becoming a part of a dynasty. You need alot to go right and the dees are ticking those boxes at the moment.
-
Dunstan can earn his spot. Sparrow already has.
-
We were gifted Petracca at pick 2, I think time will tell Sparrow was an inspired pick and everyone thought we went too early on Oliver. Bang, Bang, Bang.
-
Let's go back a few years there is no doubting who is the best player in the 2014 and 2015 drafts. We had early picks but Petracca and Oliver thank you very much. We also selected Mitch Hannan and Bayley Fritch in subsequent drafts with with much later picks and they both lit up the finals. Our recruiting is almost exact in an inexact science.
-
Not true. Nathan Ablett was a much better footballer pre AFL than Ablett jnr. He got there on merit and played well in Geelong's premiership.
-
He played an important role in our first premiership in 57 years and was selected in that team when we had basically no injuries. The only way he is not a permanent fixture in 2022 is if he gets injured or JT lands a superstar at pick 17.
-
Hopefully it is easier in a wet area.
-
They would have to let them in. I have a daughter under 12 as well in the same position. Got me thinking how would they prove it anyway? My daughter doesn't have a phone to show a vaccine passport even if she could get the jab.
-
Whoever we pick will be a competive beast regardless if they are inside, outside or in the middle.
-
In a podcast I listened to with Jason Taylor he alluded to thinking Daicos is the best player in the draft. He has proven to be a pretty good judge. I hope North bids on him. Melbourne have been very easy to deal with in the lead up to our first premiership in 57 years. I think there is argument to say getting deals done for needs is more important to a club than scrambling to get what looks like a win on paper. Essendon and Freo seem to have the opposite strategy thinking they need to win deals at all costs.
-
Slightly off topic but Casey is the pathway to play for Melbourne. You might even kick 6 in a GF. Culture - Casey is a destination club for aspiring AFL players.

Why can't people keep politics out of football threads?
-
The scary thing is our forward line is still a work in progress. Everyone has their role but that changes from week to week depending on match ups and structures. BBB will be much more consistent next year.
