The team and coaches needs some fresh eyes and legs going into the preseason. This feels like an incredibly important 6 months if we're going to rise again next year and beyond. Get the draft wrong, have players not fit and fully bought in and a plan we can't execute seamlessly and we'll likely stay out of contention. Get it right and I'm a believer that we can push hard again for the foreseeable future.

This isn't ridiculous. If it gave us a top 10 pick but they're unlikely to part with pick 2 for Lever. Although I'd prefer Turner up forward. It's moot, it'll never happen.

He’s been talked about here
-
I’d play Turner forward but either way I think he’s going to be a good one.

Taurine Ah-Mu and Ricky Mentha

Is that what happens when staff outnumber patrons
-
I’d say the Pies will finish outside the 8 with us and their list profile is worse than ours.
-
Look at what else has happened this year. I also don’t think some of you realise how important he was to our structure.
-
He’s played a high impact style of game and he’s had his share of injuries. He’s looked sore and stiff since he broke his ribs. Probably needed a month off to get fully healed and mobile again.
-
We’re not moving May on but I’d guess next year is his last
-
We likely can’t have both but if Kalani Whote chooses us and our NGA prospects prove fruitful we could be back in a big way the next 4-6 years

I have but from bullish we’ve lost Jackson, Gus, Petracca, most of Oliver, a fair chunk of Viney and a whack of May and now Gawn’s hobbled as well. No coach goes top 4 with that. I do think our recruiting has been ordinary but look at what’s been available and what we’re giving up for these guys. We gave plenty for May and Lever but now we need those picks for youngsters. We’re transitioning and if we snare a couple of plug and play youngsters, have a solid preseason and get a good run with injuries I’m more bullish about 25 than I was about this year. Gawn, May and Oliver remain my biggest concerns for next year. We’re asking way too much of, and are way too reliant on Gawn and that’s my main issue with the coaching currently.

That’s worked really well for Dodoro and the Bombers

100% Agree

Personally I’d love the club to bring in Jason Akermanis as an assistant. Success follows him.

So because the Captain suggested something to the coach which then went well the coach is actually no good, the players alone won us the flag. Ok got it.🤦♂️

I wish we’d got JCameron

If Jefferson makes it, which although looking ever so slightly more promising atm, is still a fair way off he’ll play forward with JVR and Turner. Petty, May and Lever go back The reason we still want a key forward is Jefferson still looks unlikely. Waterman isn’t the answer IMO.

For a guy who's played 12 good games over his career
-
Thanks for writing that, I was thinking it but couldn't be bothered with all the typing.

Imagine the straits Carlton would be in if Cripps went down.
-
If Petty is to go back next year then Turner needs to play forward. I'll call him Disco when he starts showing some more moves.
-
I don't disagree but with Rivers and Mcvee slated for the middle, May looking not far from done our backline looks cumbersome.

This.....We've been missing tackles for awhile now which I find very frustrating. Clearly our confidence is way down and you and others have pointed out we look fatigued. Couple of concerns for mine remain....our continued over reliance on May and Gawn. I'm just hoping Stephen May can get his body right but it's a massive worry relying on that. Oliver needs to spend the preseason beside Petracca. He don't get 6 weeks off if I'm the club. We all want more mids, myself included but Maxy needs some back up and JVR needs to play forward. How do we make that happen? Or is JVR being groomed long term as a ruck/forward because that's what it looks like to me. It's going to be a fascinating off season because we need to bring in youngsters from the top end of the draft but I'd hazard a guess there's a few other clubs thinking the same.

Our ball movement is slow because he set us up to be a contested beast and won a flag doing it. We’ve then been top 4 and if it weren’t for injuries last year we’d have 2 flags and likely still have Gus running around. After the Carlton final I would have sacked everyone but this year has panned out pretty much how I expected. He’s now getting the talent together to speed up our movement. The unexpected positive is the quality of our youngsters. I think 25 will go ok.
