If theyā€™ve started fundraising they must be relatively confident of getting the project the required go ahead.
  2. I donā€™t think anyone can suggest the players arenā€™t on a great wicket. Play the game you love, get payed very well to do it. On the downside donā€™t get fat, Injure yourself in the off season or do drugs in public. Anyone having sympathy for these guys because the club ā€œowns themā€ needs to take a look around at how most people earn a living. Sheesh!
  3. Spargo didnā€™t want the surgery he was recommended before last season. Playing around 0 made no difference to his injury. He still waited months before going under the knife in the hope his Achilles would improve. It was largely his decision to try and avoid surgery. Heā€™s now had it and the recovery is slow.
  4. Blues have offered TDK about a mill a year. Letā€™s get the cheque book out. Heā€™s exactly the player we need and to get him from the Blues would be golden.
  5. Iā€™d take him everyday of the week but heā€™s probably going to Freo

Indeed, weā€™re all hoping to see improvements in that front this season.

I think Johnson could just as easily play close to goal to help bring ball to ground from the more rushed forward entries. He could go alright with a mix of Pickett, Chandler, Spargo at his feet.

For mine thatā€™s like choosing vanilla over chocolate

Whatā€™s the cut off date for putting players on the LTI?
  10. Thats 5 examples in 5 years, so weā€™re averaging one mistake with an injured player per year. Now letā€™s look at each case. Spargo was determined not to have surgery on his Achilles and play the season. In mine and the clubs eyes heā€™s best 22 so he played. It did absolutely no further damage to his existing injury, none . So now weā€™re down to 4 in 5 years. To claim Oliver was mishandled without knowing what the club did with regard to his injury and state of mind is erroneous. Not to mention he was basically best on ground in round 1 so that kinda puts a hole in your theory. So weā€™re down to 3 in 5. Thatā€™s so low that I canā€™t even be bothered explaining the rest.
  11. With Kozzie and ANB missing I think Spargo will be very close to getting the nod in Round 1. If heā€™s fit then what heā€™s going to need is 10-12 matches to get his game back. For mine heā€™s best 22. love him forward of centre with ball in hand. I donā€™t have stats but I reckon this scenario ends up in a shot on goal in a good percentage of instances. He uses the ball well, is smart and if thereā€™s some pace on the ball and heā€™s kicking it to a leading target then weā€™re in for half a dozen score assists every week.
  12. Fritsch JVR Spargo/Sparrow Langford/Trac Turner Johnson/Chandler I am hoping that Kynan Brown, AMW, even Laurie all get a hit out forward this year. Jefferson remains the possible wildcard. Iā€™m assuming heā€™ll play against North. Heā€™s going to have to a good day out.
  13. Judd, Pickett and a first round pick for Harley Reid??
  14. Youā€™d have a lot of my posts on that list no doubt.

I imagine Petty will largely play back barring an injury to a tall forward. I think last year showed that having him in the ruck is diabolically bad. I doubt weā€™ll experiment with that again.
  16. Still not sleeping well and thatā€™s not helping
  17. Itā€™s also when players are ā€œin syncā€ with each other and the game plan. Things start to get on a roll and in that finals series we were ā€œin the grooveā€
  18. I donā€™t understand your response. Plus I was talking about guys recruited from other clubs at picks in the late 20ā€™s re number of games. Anyway, I just donā€™t see this as a massive mistake by the club. We rolled the dice and lost and that happens.
  19. Ferocious is the word. We were so hard to play against. God I loved watching us play

Do we need another inside mid right now? Can George become best 22 in the next 2-3 years? Who else is available? Where do we see our list holes and overall profile? Will Culley hold a best 22 spot for 5-10 years? Is Kentfield worth persisting with? The club will answer these questions and my hunch is George will get the spot.
  21. Ridiculous, if you buy an old car with some potential and youā€™re a great mechanic then of course you take the punt. Our fitness people had him on the verge of fulfilling his talent. His injury is a cruel blow for a kid whoā€™s apparently worked his backside off to give himself the best chance at success. Yes heā€™s likely a bust in the cruel light of day but pick 28 rarely gets you a 200 game player. The club will help him recover and heā€™ll likely be delisted and weā€™ll move on. He wonā€™t be the last pick in the late 20ā€™s to play very few games. Ranting about wasteful picks is hyperbole.

Iā€™m not saying youā€™re wrong as I donā€™t know but the magic of intuitive indigenous players has me a George fan.
  23. Unless the picks/players match thereā€™s no way Iā€™m letting him go. He wants to go to Darwin, has family in WA and SA. He stays if Iā€™m the head of footballā€¦.which just quietly I should be. I think Richo is an amateur.
